Triplet And Scott Repeating Carbine

Lot # 202 (Sale Order: 201 of 514)      

Firearm.Serial no. 3100, .50 caliber, scarce 22-inch barrel with standard military sights. Wooden tompion. Blued finish. Seven-shot magazine. Swivel-breech marked: Kentucky. Extractor. Case-hardened frame, triggerguard and buttplate. Frame marked: Meridien Manfg. Co./Meridien, Conn. Standard walnut stocks with sling mounts.
Condition: Excellent to mint. 95-100% finish with slight wear to some relief edges. Vibrant case-hardening. Wood mint.
Notes: 5000 of this model were issued under a contract with the state of Kentucky for use by General William T. Sherman's troops during the Atlanta campaign. They were produced too late for use in the Civil War.

Spencer Repeating Carbine Made In 1864

Lot # 203 (Sale Order: 202 of 514)      

Firearm.Serial no. 49324, 52 caliber, 22-inch round barrel with standard military sights. Six-groove rifling. Case-hardened hammer, frame, lever and buttplate. Saddle ring and bar. Walnut stocks with faint cartouche present behind saddle ring bar. Sling mount.
Condition: Fine to excellent. Barrel retaining 90-95% finish, now fading to a rich plum brown. Traces of case-hardening remaining in protected areas. Buttstock with stable hairline crack on left side. Minor dents and bruises. Two tiny holes drilled in front of fore-end, use unknown.

Firearm.Serial no. 20851, .50 caliber [chambered for the famed .56-50 Spencer cartridge], 20-inch round barrel with standard military sights. Blued finish. Marked at breech: M 1865/European crown V proofs. Case-hardened hammer, frame, lever and buttplate. Stabler cut-off. Walnut stocks with crisp EAW and DAP cartouches.
Condition: Excellent to mint. Retaining approximately 95-99% finish with minor wear to relief edges. Exceptionally vibrant case-hardening. Wood near mint with only minor marks.

Rare And Exceptional Peabody Breechloading Carbine Made By The Providence Tool Company, Providence,

Lot # 210 (Sale Order: 209 of 514)      

Firearm.Unserialized. .52 caliber, 20-inch round barrel with pedestal front sight and two-position flip-up rear sight. Blued finish. Saddle ring. Case-hardened barrel band, hammer, saddle ring, frame, lock, breech lever and buttplate. Standard walnut stocks with left side of wrist marked: W.C.
Condition: Excellent to mint and possibly unfired. Vibrant case-hardening, A few insignificant fine scratches present on frame. Wood near mint with no visible blemishes.
Notes: The caliber is the largest of any Peabody known; Flayderman notes the .50-70 caliber but does not recognize the .52 caliber [see Flayderman 9B081]. These weapons were made in the 1860s and 70s; there is no proof that any were purchased by the U.S. Army but some were supplied to the New York and Massachusetts militias.

Firearm.Serial no. 1194, .45-70 caliber, 22-inch round barrel with standard front sight and two-position rear sight. Proper G.W. Morse address. Two barrel bands. Seven-shot magazine. Blued finish. Saddle ring. Case-hardened hammer, fore-end cap and buttplate. Serpentine lever. Walnut stocks with cleaning rod reservoir in butt. Cleaning rod present. Crescent butt.
Condition: Excellent to mint. Approximately 90-95% finish with scattered light wear to relief edges. Minor fading to case-hardening. Wood excellent.
Notes: Only 500 of these carbines were manufactured. This example is one of the only third models known and was manufactured in 1880s.
