Firearm.Serial no. 1933, .40 caliber 9-shot cylinder, top of 7-inch octagonal barrel, inscribed in olde English: ""Systeme Le Mat Bte s.g.g.d. Paris""; center barrel of 16 gauge; N on left side of hammer. Blued finish. Checkered walnut grips.
Condition: Fine. 85% blue on barrel, traces on shotgun barrel; balance turned brown; cylinder with 85% blue; frame with traces blue, balance brown; light pitting. Grips with light wear, marks. Mechanism needs adjustment; cylinder does not properly lock into position at full cock.

Firearm.Serial no. 37, .54 caliber percussion smoothbore, 8 1/2-inch round barrel; barrel finished bright, as was brass frame; left side of round barrel at breech with stamping: US/NWP/P; varnished walnut grips. 37 stamped on left side of grip frame, visible when left panel removed.
Condition: Very good. Gray and brown patina to steel, old cleaning and light surface pitting; mellow patina, nicks, to brass; grips with 95% varnish, nicks and wear.

Condition: Fine. Gray and brown patina; blue on hammer and lever; Engraving sharp. Barrel and cylinder cleaned. Grips fine.
Notes: Only about 50 manufactured; believed by Hopkins & Allen. If so, the IXL is likely that firm's earliest production.

Firearm.No visible serial number, .36 percussion caliber, 5 shot cylinder, 4-inch octagonal barrel, blued with case-hardened trigger and hammer; varnished rosewood grips; silver-plated brass gripstraps. Profusely engraved barrel, loading lever, cylinder, frame and gripstraps. Standard three-line barrel marking. Mahogany case lined in green velvet, with accessories of steel mold, eagle and shield powder flask, empty tin UMC caps, L-shaped screwdriver/nipple wrench, miscellaneous projectiles and key.
Condition: Fine. 65% blue, flaking, primarily on cylinder; balance turning brown and gray; 55% case-hardening; tracking lines on cylinder; 97% silver, tarnished. Grips fine. Case fine, worn, crack in bottom; accessories very good.

Firearm.Serial no. 14, .40 percussion caliber, 6-shot cylinder with etched decoration, cylinder revolves counter-clockwise. 6-inch barrel, scroll and border engraved lock; SPRINGFIELD ARMS CO. engraved on topstrap; steel gripframe, with scroll and border engraving, matching that on lock, hammer, triggerguard and topstrap Blued finish, nature of remainder of finish difficult to assess due to condition.
Condition: Very good. Gray patina; pitting; cylinder with scene fading, wear and brown patina. Replacement screw on rear of topstrap.
Notes: One of the firearms subject of the successful landmark patent infringement suit brought by Colt's against the Massachusetts Arms Co., 1851.
