Condition: Very good to fine. Gray patina to steel; pitting, most pronounced near touch hole and at muzzle; stock with wear, nicks and cracks, small repair to wood rear of lock.

U.S. Martially Marked Model 1836 Flintlock Pistol By Springfield Armory, One Of Small Number Of Prot

Lot # 27 (Sale Order: 27 of 514)      

Firearm..54 caliber smoothbore, 8 1/2-inch round barrel, with US/JM/P on breech; LS on left side at flat of barrel at breech; lock with American eagle and shield marking forward of hammer; steel mountings, marking appearing to be J on triggerguard strap and sideplate; brass flashpan; blue and case-hardened lock; oil-finished walnut stock with L on left side above sideplate.
Condition: Very good. Gray patina, with pitting; some nicks. Stock with nicks and light wear.
Notes: Believed to be one of the 25 or 30 prototypes or models. Identical to Waters and Johnson pistols, other than markings.

Firearm.Overall length 11-inches; brass buttcap in place, triggerguard with trigger and triggerplate, missing forward tang of triggerguard; with sideplate, rear ramrod escutcheon and forward brass stock band.
Condition: Very good. Missing rear tang of main ramrod ferrule; and front tang of triggerguard. Smooth patina to stock; light dents; needs careful cleaning; mellow patina to brass. Wood repairs to both sides of stock and adjacent to triggerguard.

Firearm..69 caliber, 45-inch barrel with bayonet lug and three iron bands. Breech marked: US[within oval]/eaglehead over P[within oval]/Ohio. Lock marked: [eagle with US shield]/Harpers/Ferry/1815. Last year of production for this configuration. Marked GC behind lower tang. Standard walnut stock with V/JS cartouche. Also marked: V.
Condition: Fine. All original and in exceptional condition for this model. Metal cleaned and showing minor pitting at breech. Frizzen screw replaced. Wood very good, showing light wear and bruises.

Firearm..69 caliber, 44 1/2-inch barrel with three iron bands and bayonet lug. Breech marked: P/[eaglehead]/V/US(faint). Deep cartouche. Lock marked: Springfield/[eagle]/US. Standard walnut stock with faint cartouche, letter A and a numeral 3 stamped opposite lock. Buttplate dated:1800. Steel ramrod. Sling mounts.
Condition: Very good to fine. Metal with rich brown age patina with large patch of pitting near breech. Wood with light, even wear and scattered minor dents and bruises present. A fine example of this model.

Standard walnut stock with LS inspector mark opposite lock. Counterplate marked: V. Marked behind lower tang: SBD. Buttplate marked: 1808. Steel ramrod. Sling mounts.
Condition: Very good. Metal lightly cleaned, now showing a mottled grey patina with scattered light pitting overall. Wood with wear and light marks throughout. Missing front sling mount.

Condition: Very good. Metal showing brown patina and minor pitting near breech. Wood very good, showing scattered wear; dents and blemishes. Minor hairline cracks in buttstock and in front of lock. No sling mounts present.

Firearm..70 caliber, 41-inch unmarked round barrel secured by three wedges. Engraved hammer and lock marked: Allport/Latewth/Ketland & Co. Engraved brass counterplate. Walnut stock with vacant pewter oval wrist escutcheon surrounded with silver wire inlay. Engraved brass furniture and buttplate. Steel ramrod. A fine example of the New England militia-style musket. Made between 1800 and 1830 [see Flayderman, 9B013].
Condition: Fine. Metal with mottled grey patina with scattered light pitting near breech. Wood with light wear and minor marks.

Lock with small eagle over US/Harpers/Ferry/1819. Standard walnut stock with brass furniture and patchbox. Stock with N.E.B. inspector cartouche and ""V"" marking opposite lock. C.F.C. cartouche behind lower tang. Steel ramrod.
Condition: Fine to excellent for this model. All original with metal showing brown patina and minor pitting. Triggerguard lightly sprung from wood. Excellent wood with only minor wear and marks in evidence.

Scarce U.S. Model 1808 Contract Flintlock Musket By T. French

Lot # 46 (Sale Order: 46 of 514)      

Firearm..74 caliber, 44 5/8-inch barrel with three iron bands. No bayonet lug. Breech marked: [oval with eaglehead/CT (for contract)]/US. Lock mechanism marked: American spread eagle over US in an oval appearing in front of hammer; aft of hammer, marked vertically: 1809/Canton[in a curve]/French. Standard pattern cherrywood stock, the left side with a trefoil cartouche marked: V/CW (Charles Williams). Steel ramrod marked US. Sling mounts.
Condition: Very good. Metal showing dark age patina with pitting near lock. Wood excellent for this model, showing wear with minor dents and bruises.
Notes: This scarce musket is in outstanding, untouched original condition. The marking on the lockplate slightly differ from the six variations described in Reilly, page 83. This is one of the early martial muskets as shown by the date and markings and obviously was used by the U.S. Army.

Gold-inlaid flintlock mechanism marked: unVaiodlos [?], Roller-type frizzen spring. Ornate relief-carved walnut stock with copper alloy wrist escutcheon with white metal triggerguard and buttplate. Bone inlays in front of buttplate. Steel ramrod. Sling rings.
Condition: Very good. Steel elements with dark age patina. Front barrel band an early replacement. Scattered minor losses to gold inlay. Wood very good with wear and patina.
