Denver Tribune - 1881 - Gunfight at the OK Corral

Lot # 8489 (Sale Order: 495 of 506)

Denver Tribune, dated October 28th, 1881. Page 4 contains a brief article headed: "Cowboys killed" mentioning a Tombstone dispatch tells of "...four cowboys - Ike and Billy Clanton and Frank and Tom McLowery - have been parading the town for several days drinking heavily and making themselves generally obnoxious. The City Marshal arrested Ike Clanton... ordered them to give up their weapons when a fight commenced.. both the McLowery boys were killed..." and a bit more. Relatively few newspapers of the day reported this event, which in more recent history has been romanticized in several movies. Some light browning, a few edge tears but no loss.
