Speech on War Against Mexico 1846

Lot # 8839 (Sale Order: 321 of 548)      

Speech of Hon. L. Severance of Main on the war against Mexico. Bound in hard covers. Pages browned with light stain otherwise very good. Probably an off print for private distribution. Severance was a Whig Represenative. In this speech delivered on May 28, 1846 he argues that despite the benefits of a military academy, it tends to make the nation warlike. He favors a pending resolution of thanks to Gen. Taylor but condemns the war calling for immediate peace.
