The rifle has a 29" barrel with a ramped blade front and military tangent style rear sights, 8 x 57 cal., manufactured on Steyr equipment at the Mukden arsenal. The rifle is a Mauser with Arisaka characteristics including the double gas vent holes on the receiver and ovoid bolt handle. The rifle retains 90-95% blue finish on the barrel with the receiver in the white. There is a crisp Mukden emblem on the front ring and the dust cover is missing. There are light scratches and handling marks, the rifle rates very good overall condition. The smooth wood stock is very good with indentations and scratches, missing the cleaning rod. There are sling swivels with an Arisaka Type 99 sling. The butt ends with a smooth steel but plate with another small Mukden emblem. There are no visible import marks noted. The bolt is in the white. The finely checkered walnut stock is very good with a Schnabel fore end, grip cap, deluxe slinge eyes and ends with a checkered steel butt plate with widow's peak, there is a light burn scar on the right side of the forearm. The bore is very good with strong rifling and the action functions smoothly on this desirable sporter by the iconic American gunsmith R.F. Sedgley. (C+R).

The rifle retains a significant amount of toning blue finish with edge wear and scratches. The front sight is an adjustable, open top globe style with a single thin post. The rear sight is an adjustable, micrometer aperture sight with engraved mount. There are multiple German proofs and acceptance marks including crown over "B" "U" and "R" symbols with a German eagle, on the breech block and barrel. The receiver shows silvered, toning color case hardening with elaborate engraving in scroll and vine with a cherubic angel holding a target on the right panel. The top of the receiver is gold inlayed, "ORIGINAL SYSTEM AYDT". The left side of the breech block is marked, " ORIGINAL / SYST. - AYDT" with the serial number, 4427.
