FABULOUS HIGH ORIGINAL CONDITION PARKER VHE 410 GAUGE SKEET GUN

Lot # 1 (Sale Order: 1 of 298)      

SN. 241395. Cal. 410ga. Made with 26” Vulcan Steel brls, 3” chambers, that have matted concave top rib with twin white beads. Rib without brl legend which is appropri...moreate for this very late gun. Brl flats with SN, unstruck brl weight of 2lbs. 13oz., stamped “SKEET IN SKEET OUT”, and Parker overload proof marks. Left side of brl lug stamped “V GRADE .410 GA. / FOR 3” SHELLS”. Gun built on a 000 frame. The original slim beavertail forend is checkered in point pattern with lightly engraved and case hardened Deeley latch release. As is appropriate and original on 410 gauge Parker beavertail forends, this gun does not have the reinforcement bolt at the muzzle end. Casehardened boxlock action with zig zag border engraving and engraved “PARKER” at front of bottom. Watertable with appropriate lightening cuts, SN, “VH”, and “ILION, NY”, makers address. The blued long tang trigger guard with zig zag border pattern and SN at center. Gun made with original Parker SST, auto ejectors, auto safety. The nicely figured straight grip walnut buttstock is checkered in point pattern through the wrist and terminates with its original checkered butt. WEIGHT: 5lbs. 13oz. Bore Diameter: .412(Rt) .415(L). Bore Restriction: .005(Rt) .007(L). DAC: 1-3/8". DAH: 2-1/4". LOP: 15". CONDITION: Excellent and investment grade. Brls with more than 97% of their original blue. Forearm and buttstock are both excellent and sound, retaining more than 95% of their original finish with a couple of small areas of finish added for preservation and minor handling marks. Frame retains about 90% of its vivid original Parker case color with thinning at front of frame and on forend latch but mostly strong throughout. Trigger guard with about 90% of its original blue. Checkered butt is crisp and original. Ejector stop with original polish blue and faint original polish marks on breech ends of brls can be seen indicating this as a lightly used original Parker. Brl flats are stamped with SN, Parker overload proofs, as well ...moreas choke marks Mod. /Full and unstruck weight of 2lbs. 14oz. Grade, gauge, and chamber information are on left side of lump. Slim beavertail is checkered in point pattern with proper original reinforcing rod at muzzle end. Small casehardened boxlock receiver with zig zag border engraving and “PARKER” on bottom of frame. Watertable with lightening cuts. Blued trigger guard with zig zag border engraving on bow, SN on tang. Gun made with Parker SST, auto ejectors, auto safety. Nicely crotch figured American Walnut capped pistol grip is checkered at grip in typical V Grade pattern, has unengraved nickel shield on toeline, and terminates with its original “PARKER” DHBP. Gun is not listed in the PARKER GUN IDENTIFICATION & SERIALIZATION ledger. Included with gun is a letter from Parker Gun Works Ilion dated Jan. 29, 1941 to Mr. Carl Hamilton, Rural Rte no. 2, Sandpoint, Idaho, stating “Dear Sir, I’ve entered your order for the Parker VHE 28 gauge. The “Beavertail” style forend and single selective trigger are noted on your order.” Also included are plaque from 2007 NRA show, original hang tag, with specifications and a price of $182.35; and orig confirmation letter, and cardboard shipping box with end label having Ilion address, outer sleeve with shipping label to Mr. Hamilton. SN. 206770. Cal. 28ga. Made on a 00 frame with 28” Acme Steel brls, 2-3/4” chambers, that have matted concave top rib with small brass front bead. Brls with usual Acm...moree Steel rib legend and ring of punch dot engraving at breech ends. Watertable with grade stamp, unstruck brl weight of 2lbs. 9oz. and original inspector stamps. Original splinter forearm is checkered in near full coverage pattern with casehardened and engraved tip, Deeley latch release, and iron. Interior of forearm with engraved screws and SN stamped. Casehardened boxlock action is beautifully engraved in typical “B” grade pattern of the era with 2 Pointers on the left, two Setters on right, both in oval game scene with near full coverage scroll and “PARKER BROS” in horizontal banner on both sides. Trigger plate with 3 well executed pheasants in game scene and near full coverage scroll engraving. Brl bolsters with single bead and top lever with sculpting at center and scroll engraving. Top tang with bursts of scroll and appears to have silver inlaid “SAFE” ahead of the checkered safety slide. Blued trigger guard with panel of rose and scroll on bow, SN at tang. Gun has period of use Infallible SST (selector on left side of top lever), auto ejectors, non-auto safety. Watertable with lightening cuts, SN and grade designation. The beautifully figured European Walnut gold capped pistol grip buttstock with finely checkered side panel, carved fleur-de-lis, and mullered border checkering through the wrist terminates with its original blued and lightly scroll engraved skeleton buttplate. The pistol grip cap with unengraved gold oval. WEIGHT: 5lbs. 4oz. Bore Diameter: .550(Both). Bore Restriction: .012(Both). DAC: 1-1/2”. DAH: 2-5/8”. LOP: 14-1/8”. CONDITION: Excellent. Brls with more than 95% of their original toning blue. Buttstock and forearm are excellent as expertly refinished with some minor handling marks noted. The frame and trigger plate retain about 75% of their original case color with crisp engraving. Trigger guard has been expertly restored and retains nearly all of that blue. The Infallible trigger appears to have been with the gun for much of its life and shows appropriate aging and tone, mostly likely to have been added to this gun during its early period of use. Bottom of frame engraved “PARKER” surrounded by scroll and the trigger plate is near full coverage engraved with scroll at top and bottom and fabulously detail and well excited mallards at flight in center. The blued long tang trigger guard with scroll on bow, SN at tang. Gun made with double triggers, auto ejectors, auto safety. The nicely fiddleback figured walnut buttstock with carved teardrops behind receiver is checkered in wave mullered border pattern through the wrist, has silver oval at toeline engraved with initials “HDR”, and terminates with its original blued and engraved skeleton buttplate. Accompanied by a PGCA research letter identifying the gun as found today. WEIGHT: 7lbs. 12oz. Min. Wall Thickness: .030(Both). Bore Diameter: .733(Both). Bore Restriction: .030(Rt) .032(L). Trigger guard with about 90% of its original inky blue with flaking at grip area. Skeleton butt with more than 85% of its original blue and crisp screws. The casehardened boxlock receiver is zig zag border engraved and engraved “PARKER” on bottom. Blued trigger guard with zig zag border on bow and at tang, SN at center. Gun made with double triggers, auto ejectors, non-auto safety. The lightly figured walnut buttstock is checkered in 2 point pattern through the wrist, has unengraved nickel shield on toeline, and terminates with its original Parker DHBP. WEIGHT: 5lbs. 12oz. Extraordinary creation engraved by legendary engraver Geoffroy Gournet. Brl Set 1 is 28” long with 3” chambers, made with matted concave top rib that has small brass front bead. Rib legend reads “PARKER REPRODUCTIONS BY WINCHESTER EAST ALTON IL. USA. MADE IN JAPAN”. Brls with 2-1/4” scroll wedges at breech ends. Engine turned brl flats with SN, Mod./Full choke marks and overload proof stamps. Top of forend lug stamped “1”. Brl Set 2 is 26” in length, same as Set 1 with desirable “Q1/Q2” chokes and “2” on top of forend lug. Single beavertail forend is near full coverage finely checkered in fleur-de-lis pattern. Casehardened Deeley latch release and iron are nearly full coverage scroll engraved. Interior of iron is engine turned and reinforcement bolt at muzzle end is also scroll engraved. Casehardened boxlock receiver is beautifully engraved in later production AAHE Grade pattern with scroll oval at center of frame and fine scroll engraved in about 90% coverage throughout. Buttstock with carved fleur-de-lis, checkered side panels, and have second fleur-de-lis behind receiver. Stocks are checkered in flowing wave border pattern through the wrist and terminates with its near full coverage scroll engraved blued skeleton steel buttplate. Brl Set 2 same as Set 1 except 26” in length and “Q1/Q2” choke stamps. Single splinter forearm with fleur-de-lis mullered border checkering pattern in near full coverage. Forearm with casehardened and engraved steel tip Deeley latch release and iron. Interior of forearm iron is nicely engine turned.
