Wang, "Biking Brothers" Hand Painted LE, Bas Relief Sculpture, #d 1/5, JC #11251, $150 SHIP

Lot # 303

Hand Signed and Letter of Authenticity. Wang, "Biking Brothers" Hand Painted Limited Edition Bas Relief Sculpture, Numbered 1/5, Hand Signed and Letter of Authenticity. ...more "Biking Brothers" is a hand painted limited edition, dimensional art, bas relief sculpture by Wang. This piece is numbered 1/5, is hand signed in verso, and comes with a letter of authenticity. Measures approximately 39" x 19.5". As a child growing up in China, Wang ZhiWu inherited his love of art from his father, a sculptor, landscape artist, and wood craftsman. Growing up on his parent's farm, Wang's talents were enthusiastically cheered on by family and friends, including some of the master artists that happened to be his neighbors. After graduating from Meizhou Wan Arts and Crafts College in Fujian, China in 2006, Wang began his professional career as a contemporary artist, in which he focused on human figures that reflected the trials and tribulations of life. Although financially successful, this subject matter brought him no joy, leading to a difficult year-long hiatus. When he emerged from this time self-reflection and re-awakening, he shifted his artistic focus from capturing the hardships of the human condition to that of the unconditional love of animals. Growing up on a farm, Wang always had a deep connection to animals, but his connection to his pets during his artistic hibernation became a growing and ongoing source of inspiration. He began to use animal images as reflections of himself and his interpretation of life. He styles his animal subjects to suggest their independent character and uniqueness, while capturing their essential nature. With watchful eyes that almost come alive, his animal images stir an emotional rhetoric that inspires onlookers to approach the art with more soulful intuition than calculated analysis. Although the subject matter is generally simple, the art represents something more. Wang’s work has been collected internationally by both professional and private collectors, and internationally exhibited.

Fabian Perez "Glamour III" Hand Embellished Limited Edition Canvas; Hand Signed, JC INV #8443

Lot # 305

Fabian Perez "Glamour III" Hand Embellished Limited Edition Canvas; Hand Signed, with COA. "Glamour III" is a hand embellished limited edition giclee on stretched canvas...more by Fabian Perez. The piece is numbered and hand signed by the artist and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. Measures approx. 14" x 18" (image). This item requires special handling and may have a longer than usual turnaround. Born in 1967 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Fabian Perez was fascinated by both martial arts and fine arts growing up. Karate in particular, taught Perez discipline, but also the grace and fluid movements that can be seen in his artwork. But before that, times were rough for the young man. With both parents dead by the time he was 19, Perez lived as a gypsy on the streets of Argentina for a few years, until finding his mentor and sensei, Oscar Higa, whom he eventually followed to Italy. He spent seven years learning to paint while he traveled, taught martial arts and even wrote a book entitled "Reflections of a Dream", which has also been published in the United States. Perez then moved to Japan to further his studies in Karate, not realizing that there were in fact deep ties between martial and Fine arts: he discovered the art of "Shodo", a philosophical and meditative practice followed by Samurais and monks, of sitting before a blank sheet of rice paper with nothing but a brush and Chinese ink. "When a stroke is made on the paper, the artist cannot turn back. If he is unhappy with what he has created, he must start all over. Even when I’m going backward and forward with my colors, the important thing is the determination of each stroke." Today Perez is based out of Los Angeles where he lives with his wife and children, but he travels extensively to show his work, with more than 210 international one-man exhibits under his belt, and counting. He does not like to categorize his work, because he feels that adding labels limits an artist’s creativity. In this same vein, Perez paints primarily with acrylic, a faster-drying paint than oil, which allows him to be more impulsive with his work. He also creates exquisitely detailed watercolors in shades of black, white and grey that rise to and far above the inherent challenge of a difficult medium. Always, his creations are sensuous, moody, enchanting. “I am constantly fighting for a more romantic world, one where the woman and the man have defined roles and power isn’t always the goal.” Pausing, he says, “I would like to say that it is not important what you have, but how you enjoy it.”

Bizarro! "Dog Goes Out" Numbered Limited Edition Hand Signed by creator Dan Piraro, JC #1131, Tube

Lot # 323

Bizarro! "Dog Goes Out" Numbered Limited Edition Hand Signed by creator Dan Piraro; Letter of Authenticity. "Dog Goes Out" is a limited edition giclee on paper by Dan ...morePiraro, creator of the critically acclaimed and award winning comic strip, Bizarro! This piece is numbered and hand signed by the artist and includes aletterof authenticity. Measures approximtely 8" x 15" (image). Dan Piraro has been a cigar-smoking vegan, animal rights activist, atheist, NRA hating, ex-husband, father, stand-up comedian, painter, former host of FOX TV’s "Utopia," philosophizing cartoonist who makes his living writing and drawing a new cartoon every day, 365 days a year. His humor is inspired partly by his own real-life situations and partly by the eccentric thoughts that pop into his overly-active mind. Dan has a rare talent for ruffling feathers with scathing commentary on the mindlessness of modern life, then smoothing them down with his disarming humor, charm and self-deprecating humility. His intriguing perspective on life easily flows beyond the boundaries of one-panel cartoons and into a comedic and interesting conversation about a plethora of topics. He stirs up controversy, inspires revelations, and pokes fun at everyone along the way, including himself. Bizarro entered syndication in 1985 with Chronicle Features, then was part of Universal Press Syndicate and is now distributed internationally to more than 350 daily and Sunday newspapers by King Features Syndicate. Piraro was a recipient of The National Cartoonists Society’s "Best Panel Feature" an unprecedented three consecutive years in 2000, 2001 and 2002, and again in 2016. He also received the prestigious Reuben Award for "Outstanding Cartoonist of the Year" in 2009. Engaging with almost a million fans a month, it is clear that Piraro’s cartoons are loved. His blogs and social media sites receive tens of thousands of visitors each day.
