David Willardson, "Hair of the Dog" Limited Edition Serigraph, JC INV #3211, TUBE

Lot # 334

David Willardson, "Hair of the Dog" Limited Edition Serigraph, Numbered and Hand Signed with Certificate. With careful details, loyalty to original Disney creations, and...more a unique, personal flair, David Willardson's artwork is perfect for the casual fan or the avid collector. "Hair of the Dog" is a limited edition serigraph on deckle-edge paper, numbered and hand signed by Willardson. Includes Certificate of Authenticity! Measures approx. 18" x 24" (no border). San Diego native and self-proclaimed California Boy, David Willardson, enjoyed a successful career in design and illustration before teaming up with Disney. He had always loved all things Disney--from the first time he visited Disneyland as a kid in 1955, to working there as a cast member throughout high school--but he never considered a professional relationship until he received a call from Jeffrey Katzenberg (head of animation at Disney) in the 80’s. Katzenberg had seen an illustration of Goofey that Willardson had done for a national ad spot, and asked if he would be interested in creating an entirely new look for the animated movie poster campaigns that featured the reissued classics and new movies. Then for the next 17 years, Willardson was the artist of choice for those Disney campaigns. Lurking behind his beloved Disney characters, Willardson discovered a team of animation geniuses that had left an indelible mark on American culture. He sought about learning their craft in order to figure out what made his heroes tick. "As a young kid, I studied them in minutiae," Willardson remembers. The first poster Willardson created for Disney (and Katzenburg) was for the re-release movie poster for "Bambi." His fully rendered images for the Disney animated movie posters are still the most widely used to date and include such well-known movie posters as: "The Little Mermaid," "Aladdin," "The Lion King," "Pocahontas," "The Hunchback of Notre Dame," "Robin Hood," "Beauty & The Beast" as well as Classics, such as "Snow White," Cinderella," "Pinocchio", "Jungle Book" (to name a few), earning him a permanent place in animation history. Willardson had a long run at Disney, but when computer graphics took over much of the former hand illustration work, he decided to make a change and closed his design studio in 2003 to embark on a bold new venture as a Disney fine artist.

Bizarro, "Go West Young Man" Numbered Limited Edition Hand Signed by Dan Piraro, JC INV1139, tube

Lot # 335

Bizarro, "Go West Young Man" Numbered Limited Edition Hand Signed by creator Dan Piraro; Letter of Authenticity. "Go West Young Man" is a limited edition giclee on paper...more by Dan Piraro, creator of the critically acclaimed and award winning comic strip, Bizarro. This piece is numbered and hand signed by the artist and includes a letterof authenticity. Measures approximtely 12" x 10" (image). Dan Piraro has been a cigar-smoking vegan, animal rights activist, atheist, NRA hating, ex-husband, father, stand-up comedian, painter, former host of FOX TV’s "Utopia," philosophizing cartoonist who makes his living writing and drawing a new cartoon every day, 365 days a year. His humor is inspired partly by his own real-life situations and partly by the eccentric thoughts that pop into his overly-active mind. Dan has a rare talent for ruffling feathers with scathing commentary on the mindlessness of modern life, then smoothing them down with his disarming humor, charm and self-deprecating humility. His intriguing perspective on life easily flows beyond the boundaries of one-panel cartoons and into a comedic and interesting conversation about a plethora of topics. He stirs up controversy, inspires revelations, and pokes fun at everyone along the way, including himself. Bizarro entered syndication in 1985 with Chronicle Features, then was part of Universal Press Syndicate and is now distributed internationally to more than 350 daily and Sunday newspapers by King Features Syndicate. Piraro was a recipient of The National Cartoonists Society’s "Best Panel Feature" an unprecedented three consecutive years in 2000, 2001 and 2002, and again in 2016. He also received the prestigious Reuben Award for "Outstanding Cartoonist of the Year" in 2009.

1957 Original Artwork for Ben Hogan's "Five Lessons: The Modern Fundamentals of Golf" Book $100 SHIP

Lot # 339J

1957 Original Artwork for Ben Hogan's "Five Lessons: The Modern Fundamentals of Golf" Book. A timeless classic, with nearly one million copies in print, Ben Hogan's Five ...moreLessons: The Modern Fundamentals of Golf (1957) is still the most important golf book ever written by one of the most important golfers who ever lived. One of only five players to have won all four major championships, Hogan turned pro at eighteen (1930) and toiled for a decade before capturing his first pro tournament as an individual at age twenty-eight (1940). That same tenacity helped him make a miraculous recovery from a near fatal and career threatening injury in 1949 and register his watershed Triple Crown season in 1953. Known to practice more than any other golfer in his time, he was also widely acknowledged as one of the game's greatest strikers and tacticians. Ben Hogan's premise in his seminal work was simple and straightforward: "The average golfer is entirely capable of building a repeating swing and breaking 80." Practically overnight, the book became gospel for every amateur golfer and required reading for every professional golfer across America and beyond, Featuring Hogan's detailed analyses and illustrated demonstrations, the masterpiece outlined the building blocks of golf - grip, stance, posture, and the two basic components of the swing. With its clear and timeless text and illustrations, the book remains the cornerstone of every golf library. Offered here is original artwork by the book's illustrator Anthony Ravielli, which he created as a study for Hogan's famed swing and mechanics which were so vital in the appeal and success of the book. In addition to Ravielli's five pencil depictions of Hogan during different stages of his swing, the artwork also contains the illustrators interesting notations such as "Large opening drawing, Hogan at finish," "Add hips pulling, arms down sketches," "Delete here, possible add later," and "Many of nature's asymmetrical forms." Measures (23.5x18.5") on gray drafting paper. Americana.

It comes hand signed by the artist, numbered out of 195, and with a Certificate of Authenticity from Disney Fine Art! The piece measures approximately 18" x 36". Michelle St.Laurent was born and raised in New Jersey, the oldest of four children in a large Italian family. At a young age, Michelle was inspired by Italian Renaissance painters Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci. She began painting at the age of 6 and asked for a new paint set on every birthday. In the first grade she entered a poster contest creating a painting of all the Disney characters marching in a parade. The judges disqualified her because they could not believe she had done the painting by herself without tracing. Her disappointment fueled her determination to become an artist. Filling many sketchbooks by the age of ten, Michelle began working with pastels drawing portraits of singers and movie stars. She won first place in a local art show and her piece was displayed in the town’s City Hall. Michelle made it her goal to become a Disney Artist when her family moved to Florida at the age of 16. She worked in the Magic Kingdom throughout high school then attended the Art Institute in Ft. Lauderdale, majoring in Advertising and Design. During college, Michelle created artwork for night clubs and radio stations. Continuing to fill her sketch books and grow as an artist, Michelle began working as a scenic artist for theme parks and production companies, painting murals, show sets and props. After gathering years of experience, Michelle was hired by Disney Design Group where she has spent the last ten years creating artwork for Disney’s Theme Park Merchandise and special events.

"DMC The All-Time Great" is a Chromatic Pigment Ink Limited Edition, Numbered and Hand-Signed by "DMC". "DMC The All-Time Great" is a chromatic pigment ink limited editi...moreon on paper from the DMC Homage Editions. The cover artist for this issue was Courtland Ellis. The piece is numbered, hand-signed by creator Darryl "DMC" McDaniels, and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. Measures approx. 23" x 35.5" (image). Born in 1964 in New York City, Darryl "DMC" McDaniels is a founding member of the legendary hip hop group Run–DMC, and is considered one of the pioneers of hip hop culture. McDaniels continues to make music but In 2014, his lifelong love of comics led him to venture into the industry with his own publishing imprint, "Darryl Makes Comics". McDaniels explains: "Growing up a mild-mannered, Catholic school kid, all I did was go to school and read comic books. I was strictly a Marvel Comics head; Avengers, Iron Man, Captain America, The Hulk, Iron Fist, you name it. I loved Marvel because it was the city; it was all New York. The same backdrop I was living in in this universe was in the Marvel Universe. Comics did for me what hip hop did for me as I got older; it empowered me, inspired me and educated me. I learned about Nazis, space exploration, everything from comics." Darryl Makes Comics' first book is DMC, a 90-page anthology graphic novel set in 1985 that features McDaniels as a superhero who confronts both criminals and other superheroes whose recklessness threatens innocent lives. The comic's version of DMC wears McDaniels' signature Adidas sneakers, fedora and rope chain, along with an elongated turtleneck that masks his face. DMC defends the city's marginalized citizens against super villain and super hero alike, leaving no traces besides the imprint of his knuckle rings on his opponents' faces. (By day, though, he teaches junior high school English.) Darryl Makes Comics is dedicated to the idea that every walk of life has heroes and stories worth telling. "Hip hop was always based on creativity," DMC says, "So what we're trying to do with this comic book is not trying to create anything that's new; we're just going to show the world what's already there… the beauty and the creativity of it.

Part of the Disney Silver Series, this limited edition featuring 101 Dalmations imagery comes framed and ready to hang. It is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity from Disney Fine Art. The edition is limited to just 500 pieces and measures approximately 28.25 x 16.25 (frame), 24 x 12 (image).

Pino (1939-2010), "Midnight Tango" Framed LE Artist-Embellished Canvas. #d & Signed JC10138 $74 SHP

Lot # 388

Pino (1939-2010), "Midnight Tango" Framed Limited Edition Artist-Embellished Canvas. Numbered and Hand Signed; COA. Pino's portraits allow glimpses into intensely person...moreal, intimate spaces, conveying emotion through rich, warm color and sensual brushwork. "Midnight Tango" is an artist-embellished limited edition giclee on canvas by Pino (1939-2010). The piece is numbered, hand signed, custom framed, and includes certificate of authenticity. Measures approx. 25.5" x 31.5" (frame), 18" x 24" (image). Born Guiseppe Dangelico in Bari, Italy on November 8, 1939, Pino began his studies at the city's Art Institute. He attended Milan's Academy of Brera in 1960 honing in on his talent for painting the human figure. During his two years at the academy, he was influenced by the the Pre-Raphaelites and Macchiaioli. His work was featured in numerous major exhibitions all over Italy and Europe from 1960 to 1979. Two of Italy’s largest publishers, Mondadori and Rizzoli, commissioned him to do book illustrations. However, despite his rising success and new opportunities, Pino felt restricted in Milan. Seeking complete artistic freedom, Pino ended up in the United States in 1979. He was sponsored by the Borghi Gallery, where he held many shows in New York and Massachusetts. Nonetheless, moving to the United States turned out to be quite a challenge. His sponsorship barely supported him and his family, which was only made more complicated by the fact that he barely spoke English and his sole method of transportation was a bicycle. After many failed attempts at finding gainful employment, Pino finally got a break in February of 1980 when Zebra Books Publishers gave him the job of creating a book cover. The success of his illustrations was so great that he was soon able to network with many prominent publishers of romance novels. His popularity blossomed within the literary community. Pino dedicated 13 years to illustrating book covers, but never lost his desire to someday return to fine art. His passion for creating pieces that break free of all outside restrictions fueled his undying dedication to fine art, which he continued to create with much success until his passing in 2010. Pino's multitude of exquisite creations continue to be ardently collected and admired by fans worldwide.

The Civil War Confederate Battle Flag of Company C 13th Alabama Infantry Brigade. Nicholas Carnochan

Lot # 426W

72" on The Fly and 48" on the Hoist. Framed under glass measuring 74"x50". No Shipping. We have an abundance of information in the links provided. Link#1 Link#2 Link#3 Link#4 A Confederate battle flag that was never surrendered or seized by the Union is a rare find. This flag is just such a rarity. This Historic Icon is from the Judge W.M. Williams Estate (Montgomery County, Texas) was presented in 1913 as a gift from Mr. Nicholas Carnochan. Mr. Carnochan identified as a Confederate War veteran who had served as a musician (band leader) in the Army of Northern Virginia, Stonewall Jackson Division, 13th Alabama, where he had come into possession of The Flag while at The Battle of the Wilderness, May 6th 1864 and captured as a prisoner. We will never know how Mr. Carnochan concealed The Flag from Union soldiers, perhaps he sewed it into the lining of his coat. Mr. Carnochan was later released from Elmira Prison, New York after the war on June 16th 1865. We suggest you do research on Elmira Prison. Many years after the war ended and then living in Montgomery County, Texas, Mr. Carnochan sought Judge Williams' assistance in a legal matter involving his Confederate pension. In appreciation Mr. Carnochan presented the Judge with The Flag. After 108 Years in the family, The Judge W.M. Estate has commissioned Hradil Auction Co. to sell at public auction The Flag to a special person to preserve a paramount specimen of American History....more
