Ma...moreny were redeemed and melted after Hawaii acquired U.S. territorial statusPer Maurice Gould and Kenneth Bressett writing in Hawaiian Coins, Tokens, and Paper Money (1961): "In 1883, Claus Spreckels, a banker, sugar planter, and power behind the throne, approached the King on the subject of having a silver coinage struck for the Islands. Application was made by the Hawaiian Government for the coinage at the San Francisco mint, of one million dollars in silver denominations to correspond with the silver coins of the United States of America in fineness and weight, regulations of the 9th of November, 1883, by the Secretary of the United States Treasury." 1929 $5 National Currency 'Iowa-Des Moines National Bank & Trust CO Des Monies, Iowa' Type 1 Grades

Lot # 903 (Sale Order: 734 of 850)

1929 $5 National Currency 'Iowa-Des Moines National Bank & Trust CO Des Monies, Iowa' Type 1 Grades vf+. Series of 1929 national bank notes come in two varieties. ...more Collectors call these type 1 and type 2 varieties. Type 1 1929 $5 national bank notes have a serial number that ends with the letter A. Type 2 1929 $5 national bank notes have a serial number that ends with a number. The charter number is also printed in brown ink twice on type 2 1929 $5 bills. Backed by bonds deposited with the Federal Government, this kind of money says “National Currency” at the top center of the note. These notes were issued by banks who received a Charter from the United States government allowing them to issue money. The Government Printing Office printed these notes with the same design except for the name of the banks, signatures of the bank officers and the Charter number. National Currency notes were made from 1863 to 1929. These notes were a way of creating confidence in an always shaky banking system. Member banks were required to deposit bonds with the government. The bank could then issue currency equal to 90% of the amount of the bonds. The financial panic of 1929 destroyed many of the National Banks and put an end to this system. There were more than 14,000 banks that issued National Currency and there are large numbers of avid collectors. The 1929 issue was the only “small size” issue, that is to distinguish from the “horse blanket” size notes of years previous to 1929.

***Auction Highlight*** Old Casino 50c Roll $10 Halves Las Vegas Casino The Mint 1935 Walker & 'P' F

Lot # 909 (Sale Order: 740 of 850)

***Auction Highlight*** Old Casino 50c Roll $10 Halves Las Vegas Casino The Mint 1935 Walker & 'P' Franklin Ends. Up for auction is a Consignment I have secured a ...morecollection of old 1960’s Las Vegas Casino Half Dollar Shot Gun Rolls from various Casinos. These Rolls contain 20 Half Dollars. They have tight ends and are wild!. I opened three rolls to examine the contents and what I found was mostly Circulated Walkers, a few Franklins and a Seated coin or two and a couple of Barbers. But after I opened the rolls, I wished I hadn’t as they were so cool as antique Las Vegas Half Rolls. I have only seen a handful of these ever. The consignee has given us some additional rolls. We estimate the rolls to be worth $2000 each as a collectable antique, but if the roll is opened and has a rare date, who knows the value, a 1921 Walker even in low grade is worth over $500, and several other dates are worth over $200 each. But who knows, maybe a rare 1878-s Seated is inside. ($35k in g4), or an 1892-o Barber ($5k in G4). In any event the rolls themselves are amazing collectibles of a bygone era of the Rat pack and Las Vegas. From the rolls we have received there are 10 different casinos. Good Luck.

***Auction Highlight*** 1893-cc Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms64+ By SEGS (fc)

Lot # 910 (Sale Order: 741 of 850)

***Auction Highlight*** 1893-cc Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms64+ By SEGS. A beautiful snowy-white example with subtle reflectivity in the fields. Just the most trivial mar...moreks show under a glass and the complexion is remarkably close to Gem preservation. Overall sharp and particularly frosty on the reverse. The 1893-CC is the final Carson City Mint silver dollar. It is also a key date issue in the Morgan series, being one of the most challenging issues of its type to locate in high grades and with strong eye appeal. For starters, the mintage is limited to just 677,000 pieces, and survivors are scarce in an absolute sense. Additionally, many 1893-CC dollars are poorly struck in the centers, and most Mint State survivors are also heavily abraded. The present example is clearly superior, and it would serve as a highlight in an advanced collection of Morgan dollars or Carson City Mint coinage. Only 15 coins have ever been certified finer. I am including the ms65 from NGC that sold in 1/2021 for $51,600. Even though NGC graded that coins as GEM, I feel our coin is finer. I am also including an ms64+ PCGS that sold in 9/2019 for $30,000, again I like our coin more. Please use them to compare and formulate a bid that will be high enough to secure this superb coin for your collection. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

Rare September 2nd 1862 $10 T-46 Confederate States of America CSA Richmond, Virginia Graded vf25 By

Lot # 911 (Sale Order: 742 of 850)

Rare September 2nd 1862 $10 T-46 Confederate States of America CSA Richmond, Virginia Graded vf25 By PMG. This $10 Confederate note shows a woman (Commerce) leanin...moreg against some cotton bales with sailing ships in the center. In the lower right corner of the note is a picture of M.T. Hunter. This note was printed with black ink. There is no design on the back of the note. After the Civil War broke out in 1861, the newly established Confederate government began to issue it's own money as legal tender to the citizens of the South. The gamble was that if the South won the war, the money would be redeemable. The 1st note from the Government of the Confederate States of America was issued in April of 1861. From then on, notes were issued on through 1864. Almost every Confederate note was painstakingly hand signed and numbered. It is not uncommon for these notes to have uneven, or rough borders since scissors or shears were used to hastily cut the sheets of notes apart.

1925 Fort Vancouver Old Commem Half Dollar 50c Grades Choice Unc

Lot # 914 (Sale Order: 745 of 850)

1925 Fort Vancouver Old Commem Half Dollar 50c Grades Choice Unc. One of the four different commemorative coins issued during the year was the 1925 Fort Vancouver Centen...morenial Half Dollar. This coin featured designs by Portland, Oregon artist Sidney Bell, which were modeled by Laura Gardin Fraser. The occasion commemorated was the 100th anniversary of the founding Fort Vancouver, Washington. This outpost had served as a trading center for settlers and Native Americans within the territory. The coins were issued as part of a week long local celebration and sold for $1 each.Dr. John McLoughlin is depicted on the obverse of the coin. He had established Fort Vancouver on the Columbia River in 1825 and later went on to found Oregon City. The reverse of the Fort Vancouver Half Dollar portrays a pioneer holding a musket with the Fort and a mountain peak in the background. Authorized production was set at 300,000, which proved far too optimistic. A quantity of 50,000 coins was struck at the San Francisco Mint (although the coins did not carry the “S” mint mark) and after unsold coins were returned for melting, net distribution was a paltry 14,994 coins.

Military Payment Certificate (MPC) Series 651 $1 Grades Choice AU

Lot # 919 (Sale Order: 750 of 850)

Military Payment Certificate (MPC) Series 651 $1 Grades Choice AU. Series 651 military payment certificates are a strange issue. Only about 53 million in face valu...moree was even issued. They were initially released on April 28th, 1969. They were withdrawn in Japan just twenty days later. The withdrawal date in Libya was June 11th, 1969. However, they were allowed to circulate in Korea until November 19th, 1973. Those are also the only three countries in which series 651 MPCs were issued. The strange thing about these is that the fractional notes are actually rarer than the whole dollar amount notes ($1, $5, and $10) However All Series 651 are all scarce. Apparently fractional notes were only issued in Japan and Libya.
