***Auction Highlight***1889-cc Morgan Dollar $1 Graded au55 By SEGS

Lot # 582 (Sale Order: 462 of 850)

***Auction Highlight***1889-cc Morgan Dollar $1 Graded au55 By SEGS. The Carson City Mint was reactivated for coinage operations late in 1889 and a small mintage o...moref 350,000 Morgan dollars was accomplished, with all the coins delivered in the last quarter of the year. Few high-quality examples were saved by contemporary collectors and few were ever released from government storage, making the 1889-CC the most elusive Morgan dollar from the Carson City Mint. This impressive Choice AU specimen shows only light wear on the sharply struck design elements and the lightly abraded surfaces retain much of their original mint luster. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

***Auction Highlight*** 1936-s Bay Bridge Old Commem Half Dollar Near Top POP! 50c Graded ms68 By SE

Lot # 585 (Sale Order: 465 of 850)

***Auction Highlight*** 1936-s Bay Bridge Near Top POP! Old Commem Half Dollar 50c Graded ms68 By SEGS. The opening of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge was commemora...moreted with the issuance of a silver half dollar. Commonly referred to as the Bay Bridge Half Dollar, the issue proved to be one of the most popular from the plethora of commemorative coins released during the same year. The coins were designed by San Francisco artist Jacques Schnier. The obverse features a grizzly bear, as a symbol of California, in three-quarter view. The reverse design depicts the Bay Bridge, with Ferry Tower in the foreground, Yerba Buena Island and East Bay Hills in the distance. The design is intriguing in the virtual lack of any completely smooth fields. Both the water and sky are presented in a modernistic pattern. The maximum authorized mintage for the issue was 200,000 pieces. The Coin Committee of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge Celebration ordered 100,000 coins and indicated that it was their intention to only issue this amount. Coins were struck at the San Francisco Mint.Sales took place at a cost of $1.50 per coin by mail and through the booths at the bridge entrances where people could drive-up to buy the coins. In 1937, sales were ended and an unsold quantity of 28,631 coins were melted. This resulted in a net distribution of 71,424 pieces for the 1936 Bay Bridge Half Dollar.Because of the unique design, the obverse is more prone to displaying contact marks and abrasions. The complex and intricate design of the reverse tends to protect or obscure any such marks. 0 ½ of 1 point from the finest known. A captivating piece, both sides sport smooth, billowy mint frost to overall brilliant surfaces. Only in isolated peripheral areas on the obverse do we see some subtle orange-russet highlights, which are notably more extensive around the entire reverse border. The Bay Bridge Opening is a scarce to rare commemorative half dollar at and above the MS-67 grade level that represents a significant find for the advanced collector when such coins are offered in today's market. Tonight’s offering is a stellar ms68, a coin just ½ a point from the finest known

***Auction Highlight***1793 Wreath Vine & Bars Flowing Hair large cent 1c Graded vf25 By SEGS

Lot # 590 (Sale Order: 469 of 850)

***Auction Highlight***1793 Wreath Vine & Bars Flowing Hair large cent 1c Graded vf25 By SEGS. A satisfying example of this popular one-year type. The obverse is w...moreell preserved, with bold devices and a lack of distracting abrasions. The reverse devices are also well defined throughout. Largely gratifying in hand, and important for circulated type purposes. First year of issue of the Large cent, and this is the second major design type struck, soon enough the Liberty Cap style would be adopted in late 1793, so these Wreath cents remain a single year type and of considerable rarity in high grades today. Rare September 2nd 1861 $20 T-18 Confederate States of America CSA Graded f12 By PMG

Lot # 591 (Sale Order: 470 of 850)

Rare September 2nd 1861 $20 T-18 Confederate States of America CSA Graded f12 By PMG. This $20 Confederate note shows a seated woman (Industry) behind a large 20 w...moreith cupid and a beehive in the center. On the right side of the note is a seated woman (Hope) with an anchor and a palm tree. In the lower left corner of the note is a drawing of Alexander Stephens, Vice- President of the Confederate States. This note was printed with black ink on either plain or watermarked paper. After the Civil War broke out in 1861, the newly established Confederate government began to issue it's own money as legal tender to the citizens of the South. The gamble was that if the South won the war, the money would be redeemable. The 1st note from the Government of the Confederate States of America was issued in April of 1861. From then on, notes were issued on through 1864. Almost every Confederate note was painstakingly hand signed and numbered. It is not uncommon for these notes to have uneven, or rough borders since scissors or shears were used to hastily cut the sheets of notes apart.

***Auction Highlight*** 1891-cc Gold Liberty Double Eagle Near Top POP! $20 Graded ms62+ By SEGS (fc

Lot # 592 (Sale Order: 471 of 850)

***Auction Highlight*** 1891-cc Near Top POP! Gold Liberty Double Eagle $20 Graded ms62+ By SEGS. With just 5,000 pieces struck, the 1891-CC is a bonafide rarity a...moremong Carson City twenties and the long-running Liberty Head double eagles alike. Mint State examples are rare even within the low Uncirculated levels. The finest 1891-CC tops out at MS63. The issue is only slightly more available at MS61, with just a dozen pieces known and five finer pieces. This is a virtually unabraded, sharply struck MS62+, 2nd finest known example, with frosted, yet slightly muted mint luster and light-orange coloration. Liberty's hair strands are individually defined, and the star centers are all sharp. The virtually unabraded surfaces are more in line with an ms63-ms64 level, and I can only surmise the slightly muted mint luster is the reason for the coin not attaining a higher grade. Only the famous 1870-CC double eagle has a lower mintage (3,789 pieces struck) than the 1891-CC in the entire Carson City twenty dollar series. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation
