Buffalo Nickel Shotgun Roll in Old Bell Telephone Bank Wrapper 1919 & d Mint Ends

Lot # 85 (Sale Order: 53 of 850)

1936 Norfolk Old Commem Half Dollar 50c Grades Select Unc. The Norfolk Half Dollar Honors the Bicentennial of Norfolk, Virginia's elevation to the status of Borough...more in 1736. This Commemorative marked an event of purely local interest, and realized poor sales at the time of issue. In the irony that often accompanies such initial failure, it is now among the Scarcer and More Costly Coins in the old commemorative series. This bill authorized the coining of not more than 25,000 half dollars, to be coined at a single mint and with a single design. The entire mintage of 25,013 Norfolk halves was coined in September at the Philadelphia Mint (the odd 13 pieces were reserved for assay and later destroyed). Points to check for wear include the lower left of each sail and the highpoints of the mace.

***Auction Highlight*** 1838 Capped Bust Half Dollar B-1 50c Graded ms64+ By SEGS (fc)

Lot # 92 (Sale Order: 59 of 850)

***Auction Highlight*** 1838 B-1 Capped Bust Half Dollar 50c Graded ms64+ By SEGS. Exceptional quality and eye appeal that will appeal to high grade type collecto...morers and advanced Capped Bust quarter enthusiasts alike. Virtually Untoned with satin surfaces, both sides also offer razor sharp striking detail to the focal devices. The final year 1838 is a plentiful issue for its type in terms of total number of coins known, but we caution bidders that the vast majority of survivors are well worn from years of commercial use. Mint State examples of even marginal quality are scarce, while in near-Gem and higher grades this issue is rare. Amongst the Finest Known.

These shotgun rolls are all from a new consignee. They are all frrom one Estate. This particular Roll shows a 1909-s on one end and a VDB reverse on the other end.

***Auction Highlight*** 1935 Connecticut Old Commem Half Dollar Near TOP POP! 50c Graded ms67+ By SE

Lot # 94 (Sale Order: 61 of 850)

***Auction Highlight*** 1935 Connecticut Near TOP POP! Old Commem Half Dollar 50c Graded ms67+ By SEGS. A commemorative coin issue was approved to celebrate the 300th an...moreniversary of the founding of the colony of Connecticut. The design for the 1935 Connecticut Tercentenary Half Dollar would be quite striking art Deco representations of an oak tree and bald eagle. The famous Charter Oak appears on what is usually considered to be the obverse of the coin. This is where the colonists hid their royal charter when King James II sought to confiscate it. The representation of the tree is based on a painting by Charles DeWolf held by the Connecticut Historical Society. The proportions of the leaves are expanded for dramatic effect. The reverse of the coin (which Mint records actually refer to as the obverse) features a bald eagle with particularly stark and minimalistic features. Both sides of the coin were designed by Henry Kreis. The 1935 Connecticut Half Dollar had a relatively modest maximum authorized mintage of 25,000 coins. The net distribution including coins struck for assay was 25,018 after the entire issue sold out. When evaluating this issue, attention should be paid to the broad, flat area of the eagle’s wing, which tends to have hairlines or friction marks.

Up For Auction is a $1...more0 National Currency On A Plack Presented TO Mary Roebling on august 23, 1981 'The 1st National Bank & Trust CO Of Roebling, NJ' Mary Gindhart Herbert Roebling was The first woman to serve as president of a major US bank. Mary Roebling was the first woman to run a major U.S. bank. She made history in 1937 when she became president of Trenton Trust Company, now part of Wells Fargo. The woman who would one day be known as one of the most powerful women of the century wasn’t even allowed to attend college during the day. Instead, Mary Gindhart Herbert Roebling, a merchandising and business administration student at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School during the 1920s, studied at night. Having been married at 17 and widowed by 19, she was determined to learn the skills necessary to make her way independently in the world.Roebling had worked at a Philadelphia investment firm. In 1933, she married Siegfried Roebling, whose business interests included two of the leading companies in Trenton, New Jersey: John A Roebling & Sons wire rope plant and Trenton Trust Company (today part of Wells Fargo). When Siegfried Roebling died suddenly, he left her with a large holding of Trenton Trust Company stock. Roebling’s father and father-in-law encouraged her to take a shot at running the bank. Despite her limited business experience, the two men assured her that she had plenty of the most important qualification for a banker: common sense.Roebling became the first woman to serve as president of a major commercial bank in America. Under her leadership, Trenton Trust’s assets rose from $17 million to $137 million over three decades. Along the way, Roebling became a role model for growing ranks of women bankers. A Corey's Pick
