1929 $20 National Currency Type 1'The 1st National Bank & Trust Co Of Oklahoma City, OK' Grades xf

Lot # 136 (Sale Order: 102 of 850)

1929 $20 National Currency Type 1'The 1st National Bank & Trust Co Of Oklahoma City, OK' Grades xf. Series of 1929 national bank notes come in two varieties. Coll...moreectors call these type 1 and type 2 varieties. Type 1 1929 $20 national bank notes have a serial number that ends with the letter A. Type 2 1929 $20 national bank notes have a serial number that ends with a number. The charter number is also printed in brown ink twice on type 2 1929 $20 bills. Backed by bonds deposited with the Federal Government, this kind of money says “National Currency” at the top center of the note. These notes were issued by banks who received a Charter from the United States government allowing them to issue money. The Government Printing Office printed these notes with the same design except for the name of the banks, signatures of the bank officers and the Charter number. National Currency notes were made from 1863 to 1929. These notes were a way of creating confidence in an always shaky banking system. Member banks were required to deposit bonds with the government. The bank could then issue currency equal to 90% of the amount of the bonds. The financial panic of 1929 destroyed many of the National Banks and put an end to this system. There were more than 14,000 banks that issued National Currency and there are large numbers of avid collectors. The 1929 issue was the only “small size” issue, that is to distinguish from the “horse blanket” size notes of years previous to 1929.

NGC Ancient Roman Empire AD 254 - 268 Original Augusta Salonina Bi Double Denarius Coin Graded XF BY

Lot # 146 (Sale Order: 112 of 850)

NGC Ancient Roman Empire AD 254 - 268 Original Augusta Salonina Bi Double Denarius Coin Graded XF BY NGC. Julia Cornelia Salonina was an Augusta, wife of Roman Emp...moreeror Gallienus and mother of Valerian II, Saloninus, and Marinianus.Salonina's origin is unknown. According to a modern theory, she was born of Greek origin in Bithynia. She was married to Gallienus about ten years before his accession to the throne. When her husband became joint-emperor with his father Valerian in 253, Cornelia Salonina was named Augusta. Cornelia was the mother of three princes, Valerian II, Saloninus and Marinianus.] Her fate, after the murder of Gallienus, during the siege of Mediolanum in 268, is unknown. It is likely that either her life was spared or that she was executed together with other members of her family, at the orders of the Senate of Rome. Her name is reported on coins with Latin legend as Cornelia Salonina; however, from the Greek coinage come the names Iulia Cornelia Salonina, Publia Licinia Cornelia Salonina, and Salonina Chrysogona

***Auction Highlight*** 1800/79 Draped Bust Large Cent 1c Graded ms62+ bn By SEGS (fc)

Lot # 147 (Sale Order: 113 of 850)

***Auction Highlight*** 1800/79 Draped Bust Large Cent 1c Graded ms62+ bn By SEGS. 0 Up for Auction is a rare 1800/79 Draped Bust Large Cent. Any offering of an 180...more0 large cent in or near Mint State is truly an important opportunity for a wide range of collectors. This splendid cent has subdued medium brown surfaces with traces of underlying lilac, faded from original red. Olive-brown color may be seen on the devices. While not flawless, the surfaces of this, one of the finest known examples are fully appealing. It is far and away the finest 1800 large cent we have ever brought to auction and we wish you good luck in obtaining this great example. I will note that in all publc auctions, in all uncirculated grades, a total of 7 auction appearances have occurred in the last 20 years. Of those, several are the same coin. In fact in 2005, only 1 mint state example was known. Today there are less than 10, half of which are ms61 and some likely used to be au58. I am including the ms62 example that sold in 6/14 and realized $19,388. Please note its subdued price was likelt due to its very dark color. Our coin is a pleasing medium to chocolate brown. And that’s milk chocolate, not Special dark, lol. Good Luck

Lot # 149 (Sale Order: 115 of 850)

Indian cent 1c orig roll, 1909 end S other end. Indian cent 1c original Shotgun Roll, 1909 on one end, S reverse on the other. Actual roll pictured is the roll you...more will get. A great original bank shotgun roll with very tight ends. From the feedback we have been receiving, people are happy with these rolls, nearly half the roll seems to be teens, all the rolls have a few Indians, most of the rolls have some steel cents, and a lot of the wheaties are mintmarks. These shotgun rolls are all from a new consignee. They are all frrom one Estate. This particular Roll shows a 1909 on one end and a S reverse on the other end.
