Military Payment Certificate (MPC) Series 651 $10 Grades xf+

Lot # 168 (Sale Order: 133 of 850)

Military Payment Certificate (MPC) Series 651 $10 Grades xf+. Series 651 military payment certificates are a strange issue. Only about 53 million in face value was...more even issued. They were initially released on April 28th, 1969. They were withdrawn in Japan just twenty days later. The withdrawal date in Libya was June 11th, 1969. However, they were allowed to circulate in Korea until November 19th, 1973. Those are also the only three countries in which series 651 MPCs were issued. The strange thing about these is that the fractional notes are actually rarer than the whole dollar amount notes ($1, $5, and $10) However All Series 651 are all scarce. Apparently fractional notes were only issued in Japan and Libya.

***Auction Highlight*** Old Casino 50c Roll $10 Halves Las Vegas Casino Sands 1942 Walker & 1912 Bar

Lot # 173 (Sale Order: 137 of 850)

***Auction Highlight*** Old Casino 50c Roll $10 Halves Las Vegas Casino Sands 1942 Walker & 1912 Barber Ends. Up for auction is a Consignment I have secured a coll...moreection of old 1960’s Las Vegas Casino Half Dollar Shot Gun Rolls from various Casinos. These Rolls contain 20 Half Dollars. They have tight ends and are wild!. I opened three rolls to examine the contents and what I found was mostly Circulated Walkers, a few Franklins and a Seated coin or two and a couple of Barbers. But after I opened the rolls, I wished I hadn’t as they were so cool as antique Las Vegas Half Rolls. I have only seen a handful of these ever. The consignee has given us some additional rolls. We estimate the rolls to be worth $2000 each as a collectable antique, but if the roll is opened and has a rare date, who knows the value, a 1921 Walker even in low grade is worth over $500, and several other dates are worth over $200 each. But who knows, maybe a rare 1878-s Seated is inside. ($35k in g4), or an 1892-o Barber ($5k in G4). In any event the rolls themselves are amazing collectibles of a bygone era of the Rat pack and Las Vegas. From the rolls we have received there are 10 different casinos. Good Luck.

1935A $1 Silver Certificate North Africa, Signatures of Julian & Morgenthau Grades vf, very fine

Lot # 176 (Sale Order: 140 of 850)

1935A $1 Silver Certificate North Africa, Signatures of Julian & Morgenthau Grades vf, very fine. 1935a $1 Silver Certificate North Africa, Signatures of Julian & ...moreMorgenthau. It was the darkest days of World War II, just after Pearl Harbor. Were the Nazis under Field Marshall Rommel preparing a massive push through North Africa? If they did, and succedded, they could use the millions of dollars in currency the seized to buy war material. To thwart this, these Silver Certificates were sent to North Africa. Each has a yellow seal on the front. If the Nazis did succeed to over run our expeditiary force, the currency would be demonetized. After the threat passed, most of these "North Africa" Notes were destroyed. Today they're hard to find. This special 1935A $1 Silver Certificate was printed for use during Operation Torch, the Allied invasion of North Africa. It bears the usual 1935A Julian-Morgenthau signatures. However, this note bears a yellow Treasury seal instead of blue, to assure instant recognition (and devaluation) in the event of defeats by the enemy, or enemy capture of large quantities of cash. Known as a "yellow seal" Silver Certificate, this historic World War II currency note is highly sought after by collectors.

1998 Proof American Silver Eagle 1 oz coin

Lot # 182 (Sale Order: 144 of 850)

1998 Proof American Silver Eagle 1 oz coin. The American Silver Eagle is considered by many to be the most beautiful coin in production today. It takes its design...more directly from one of the most popular and iconic coins in U.S. history, Adolph A. Weinman’s Walking Liberty half-dollar of 1916-1947. Lady Liberty is depicted striding confidently toward a rising sun, draped in the security of the American flag, and carrying laurel and oak branches that symbolize American civic and military power. The reverse of the coin features a new design created expressly for the American Silver Eagle by John Mercanti, the chief engraver at the U.S. Mint. It depicts a proud heraldic eagle placed directly beneath thirteen stars representing the original thirteen colonies.

***Auction Highlight***1894-p Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms65 By SEGS

Lot # 188 (Sale Order: 150 of 850)

***Auction Highlight***1894-p Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms65 By SEGS. This brilliant and attractive Gem 1894 displays uniform, frosty luster across both sides. It is...more sharply struck for the issue and very attractive under scrutiny. At just 110,000 pieces produced, the 1894 has the lowest mintage among circulation strike Morgan dollars from the Philadelphia Mint. It is a key date issue in this widely collected series, and is the rarest Philadelphia Mint Morgan in Mint State after only the challenging 1901. When offered in Mint State, the 1894 is usually found in MS-60 to MS-64 grades and often has subdued luster and/or (numerous) detracting marks. Very few examples possess the strong technical quality and eye appeal that confirm the specimen at hand as one of the finest 1894 dollars that we have ever handled A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation
