1875 US Fractional Currency 10c Fifth Issue fr-1265 Long Key Grades vg, very good

Lot # 490 (Sale Order: 454 of 730)

1875 US Fractional Currency 10c Fifth Issue fr-1265 Long Key Grades vg, very good. Fractional or postage currency has a rich history. At the beginning of the Civil...more War people starting hoarding coins for their precious metal content. Coins became difficult to find because of the hoarding. People started to try to use stamps instead of coins as a means of commerce. The government decided to help ease the hoarding issue by issuing “paper coins” also known as postage currency or fractional currency. Fractional currency was first issued on August 21, 1862 and they were last issued on February 15, 1876. Three cents, five cents, ten cents, twenty-five cents, and fifty cents notes were all issued. Fractional currency is physically smaller than other United States money. It also does not have a serial number. William Meredith is pictured on the front.

***Auction Highlight*** 1927-s Standing Liberty Quarter 25c Graded Choice AU By USCG (fc)

Lot # 492 (Sale Order: 456 of 730)

***Auction Highlight*** 1927-s Standing Liberty Quarter 25c Graded Choice AU By USCG. The 1927-S quarter is the lowest mintage (by a large margin) Type 2 Standing ...moreLiberty quarter. In fact, it is the second lowest mintage of the entire series as only the very rare 1916 had a lower mintage. This issue is very interesting in terms of the distribution of grades of the survivors. Basically, 95 percent or more of the survivors grade AG03 to GD06. VG, Fine, VF, and EX examples are really rare. And, of course, choice AU examples are incredibly rare and highly sought. The attractive example at hand has the vast majority of original mint luster remaining and just a bit of wear at the very high points. It is very attractive with gold and russet rim toning covering both obverse and reverse. This choice AU Example is sure to please. I have included a pcgs graded au55 for comparison, I think you'll agree ours shows similar wear at the high points and is accurately graded. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin

***Auction Highlight*** 1858 C Charlotte Gold Liberty Half Eagle $5 Graded Unc Details By USCG (fc)

Lot # 493 (Sale Order: 457 of 730)

***Auction Highlight*** 1858 C Charlotte Gold Liberty Half Eagle $5 Graded Unc Details By USCG. With a production figure of 38,856, the 1858-C half eagle is one of...more the more readily available examples of the denomination from the Charlotte Mint. As a mainstay gold denomination and the largest produced at this North Carolina facility, the entire issue experienced much use in circulation. Most are found in lower to middle level circulated condition and are often damaged, scraped, or abraded. While a small number of AU examples are known, there are few that have been found to be truly Mint State - perhaps 10 to 15 at most. For the advanced specialist in Southern gold, the chance to acquire such a coin is quite rare indeed.

Series 641 10 Cent Military Payment Certificate Grades Choice AU/BU Slider

Lot # 495 (Sale Order: 459 of 730)

Series 641 10 Cent Military Payment Certificate Grades Choice AU/BU Slider. Military payment certificates, or MPC, were a form of currency used to pay U.S. milita...morery personnel in certain foreign countries. They were used in one area or another from a few months after the end of World War II until a few months after the end of U.S. participation in the Vietnam War – from 1946 until 1973. MPC utilized layers of line lithography to create colorful banknotes that could be produced cheaply. Fifteen series of MPCs were created. However, only 13 series were issued. The remaining two were largely destroyed, although some examples remain. Among the 13 released series a total of 94 notes are recognized.

***Auction Highlight*** Old Casino 50c Roll $10 In Halves Aladdin Hotel Las Vegas 1918 & 'D' Walker

Lot # 498 (Sale Order: 462 of 730)

***Auction Highlight*** Old Casino 50c Roll $10 In Halves Aladdin Hotel Las Vegas 1918 & 'D' Walker Ends. Up for auction is a Consignment I have secured a collecti...moreon of old 1960’s Las Vegas Casino Half Dollar Shot Gun Rolls from various Casinos. These Rolls contain 20 Half Dollars. They have tight ends and are wild!. I opened three rolls to examine the contents and what I found was mostly Circulated Walkers, a few Franklins and a Seated coin or two and a couple of Barbers. But after I opened the rolls, I wished I hadn’t as they were so cool as antique Las Vegas Half Rolls. I have only seen a handful of these ever. The consignee has given us some additional rolls. We estimate the rolls to be worth $2000 each as a collectable antique, but if the roll is opened and has a rare date, who knows the value, a 1921 Walker even in low grade is worth over $500, and several other dates are worth over $200 each. But who knows, maybe a rare 1878-s Seated is inside. ($35k in g4), or an 1892-o Barber ($5k in G4). In any event the rolls themselves are amazing collectibles of a bygone era of the Rat pack and Las Vegas. From the rolls we have received there are 10 different casinos. Good Luck.

***Auction Highlight*** NGC 1801 Lm-2 R4 Draped Bust Half Dime 1/2 10c Graded vf30 By NGC (fc)

Lot # 500 (Sale Order: 464 of 730)

***Auction Highlight*** NGC 1801 Lm-2 R4 Draped Bust Half Dime 1/2 10c Graded vf30 By NGC. Up for Auction is a Fantastic 1801 Draped Bust Half Dime. It is ridiculo...moreusly under graded. I have included pictures of a cac vf35 and a pcs xf40. Ours is clearly better than the vf35 and equal to or better in many regards than the xf40. One of the most horribly undergraduate coins I've seen. Easy upgrade at PCGS IMHO. This LM-2 example is struck with an early state of the dies, without the massive cracks and crumbling obverse die that characterize later die states. All 1801 half dimes are scarce, yet the date is not fully appreciated for its scarcity compared to others in the series. This example is glossy and well-struck on both sides of the coin. Vestiges of a full strike are visible in Liberty's hair and especially in and around the eagle's wings on the reverse. The surfaces are smooth and attractive, richly toned with bronze like hues, apple-green, and golden highlights.

***Auction Highlight*** 1886-p Morgan Dollar $1 Graded Gem++ Unc By USCG (fc)

Lot # 501 (Sale Order: 465 of 730)

***Auction Highlight*** 1886-p Morgan Dollar $1 Graded Gem++ Unc By USCG. This is a bright, virtually brilliant example with intense satin to flashy frosted luster...more. Sharply struck with smooth and appealing surfaces. At 19,963,000 circulation strikes produced, the 1886 has the highest mintage for a silver dollar of any design type produced up to that time. Thanks to the release of large numbers of examples from government storage throughout much of the early to mid-20th century, the 1886 is one of the most available Morgan dollars in Mint State. As with so many issues in this series, however, the 1886 becomes scarce to rare in the finest Mint State grades, which for the 1886 means MS-67+ and finer. Among the nicest examples that we have offered in recent sales, this virtually pristine beauty would do justice to any high quality collection. Tied for 16th finest. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

***Auction Highlight*** 1893-s Morgan Dollar $1 Graded Choice AU By USCG (fc)

Lot # 502 (Sale Order: 466 of 730)

***Auction Highlight*** 1893-s Morgan Dollar $1 Graded Choice AU By USCG. An issue that is eagerly sought at all levels of preservation, the present lot offers an ...moreexceptionally well preserved survivor that will appeal to advanced Morgan dollar enthusiasts. Minimally toned in light gold near the rims, the surfaces present as brilliant and slightly reflective at most viewing angles. Ample satin luster and bold to sharp definition readily uphold the validity of the assigned grade. A legendary issue that ranks as the absolute rarity among circulation strike Morgan dollars, the 1893-S represents a particularly important find in the finest circulated and Mint State grades. The present Choice AU will certainly have no difficulty finding its way into an advanced collection. I have included two other au55 examples for your comparison. I think you will see ours is equal to or actual superior to both.
