***Auction Highlight*** 1916-p Standing Liberty Quarter 25c Graded xf40 BY SEGS (fc)

Lot # 5884 (Sale Order: 5 of 22)

***Auction Highlight*** 1916-p Standing Liberty Quarter 25c Graded xf40 BY SEGS. The 1916 Standing Liberty quarter is the first issue in the series. These coins we...morere not struck until the last two weeks of 1916, and they were released in January, 1917. The mintage is consequently very low, a mere 52,000 coins, making this issue the lowest mintage by far in the Standing Liberty quarter series and indeed one of the lowest mintage U.S. coins of the 20th century. The 1916 Standing Liberty quarter is rare in all grades and has always been a very high demand coin. Today, even extremely low grades sell in excess of $1,000. A Key Date's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

***Auction Highlight*** 1808 Classic Head Large Cent S-279 1c Graded ms61 bn By SEGS (fc)

Lot # 6260 (Sale Order: 13 of 22)

***Auction Highlight*** 1808 S-279 Classic Head Large Cent 1c Graded ms61 bn By SEGS. Each side of this piece balances warm chocolate Brown with dark chocolate bro...morewn color beneath a dusting of pearlescent luster. The surfaces are overall smooth and untroubled, with just a few trivial marks on the obverse. Evidence of a late die state is apparent near the rims, though the design elements are bold and the eye appeal is delightfully strong. This example represents the first year of the Classic Head series from dies made by John Reich, an accomplished German immigrant who did outstanding work in his era, most notably on various historical medals. His Capped Bust design initiated in 1807 on the half dollar is well known, as is the Classic Head motif inaugurated this year on the cent and in 1809 on the half cent. The Classic Head cents present a challenge in terms of surface quality. Porosity and dullness are the rule, this extending through the end of the series in 1814. Supplies of copper became a problem, especially after the War of 1812 cut off shipments from England. The offered 1808 cent is ideal as an example of the variety and, probably even more likely in terms of bidding activity, as the first year of the design type. I have included another ms61 BN example. Note the poor strike quality which plagued the s-279. Less than 10 known in Unc. A Key Date's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

***Auction Highlight*** 1916-d Mercury Dime 10c Graded ms62 FSB Details By SEGS (fc)

Lot # 6592 (Sale Order: 18 of 22)

***Auction Highlight*** 1916-d Mercury Dime 10c Graded ms62 FSB Details By SEGS. Per David Hall oF PCGS: "The 1916-D Mercury dime is one of the most heralded key dates o...moref 20th century numismatics. If you collected coins in the 1950s or 1960s, you dreamed of finding a 1916-D dime...or a 1909-S VDB or 1914-D Lincoln cent, or 1932-D or 1932-S quarter...in circualtion. And I certainly did have that dream as a young pre-teen coin collector. The 1916-D is rare in all grades. Walter Breen has written that mint production of dimes in Denver in 1916 was stopped so that personnel could devote full time to making quarters. The original mintage of 264,000 for the 1916-D is by far the lowest of the Mercury dime series. For comparision, the mintage of the 1916 was 22,180,080 and the mintage for the 1916-S was 10,450,000. The 1916-D is an extremely high demand coin in all grades and even very low grade examples sell for in excess of $1,000." A Key Date's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

***Auction Highlight*** 1793 Wreath Vine & Bars Flowing Hair large cent S-10 R-4 1c Graded au53 By S

Lot # 6644 (Sale Order: 22 of 22)

***Auction Highlight*** 1793 Wreath Vine & Bars S-10 R-4 Flowing Hair large cent 1c Graded au53 By SEGS. This 1793 Wreath cent offers superior quality and eye appe...moreal for this design from the first year of regular issue U.S. Mint coinage The S-10 Wreath cent is an elusive variety in higher grades, and seldom encountered with nice surfaces. While Chain cents often attract the most interest for their position as the first made, there is not a collector alive who would assert that Chain cents are more beautiful than their Wreath reverse counterparts. Breen boldly suggested that the elegance of the Wreath cents "was Director David Rittenhouse's answer to the newspaper criticisms" lodged against the Chain cent. Though no evidence exists to support this, the fact remains that the Wreaths represented a substantial step up in both design artistry and engraving execution. The details of this fine style design are lost with even light wear, making high grade Wreath cents such as this the crown princes of the early copper world. The Noyes Census of the 12 best examples reaches down to VF25, and eight of those 12 have Average or below average surfaces A Key Date's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation
