Lot # 445 (Sale Order: 304 of 618)

***Auction Highlight*** 1884-cc vam 2 I2 R3 Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms67 By SEGS. VAM-2. The 1 and 8 in the date are repunched. The 1884-CC is a Carson City type ...morecoin, and will never be rare in lower Mint State grades. Superb Gems, however, are rare, and numerically finer examples are virtually unobtainable. This lustrous and nicely struck CC-mint dollar shows only traces of tan and gray toning. Booming cartwheel luster sweeps splendidly smooth surfaces. Unlikely to be surpassed, and an important opportunity for the alert specialist.

**HIGHLIGHT OF MONTH* PCGS 1882-s Gold Liberty Half Eagle $5 Graded ms62 pl By PCGS (fc)

Lot # 446 (Sale Order: 305 of 618)

***Auction Highlight*** PCGS 1882-s Gold Liberty Half Eagle $5 Graded ms62 pl By PCGS. HIGHLIGHT OF THE MONTH - Up for Auction is the only 1882-s $5 Liberty Head G...moreold Piece to EVER grade PL, Proof Like, by any of the major Services. PCGS graded ms62 PL, and in my opinion it looks more like an ms63, or even 63+. But regardless of the numerical grade, the real value here is that it is a POP 1, none ever graded PL besides this one coin. We have estimated the trends based on other coins where a lone example has been graded PL and it came to auction. I wish you good luck in becoming the only owner of a Proof Like 1882-s $5 gold piece.

***Auction Highlight*** 1891 $10 Large Site Treasury Note General Sheridan Fr-370 Graded vf20 By PMG

Lot # 448 (Sale Order: 307 of 618)

***Auction Highlight*** 1891 $10 Large Site Treasury Note General Sheridan Fr-370 Graded vf20 By PMG. This exceptional $10 Treasury Note has large even margins fra...moreming a sharply printed design. The "Open Back" design displays bold green inks with original overprint embossing clearly evident. This note offers superb technical attributes and wonderful aesthetic appeal. Major General Philip Sheridan is portrayed on the center of the note. Sheridan was a career United States Army officer and one of the most important Union generals during the Civil War. Sheridan's cavalry vigorously pursued Lee's struggling army in 1865 and was instrumental in forcing Lee's surrender at Appomattox, effectively ending the war. Sheridan died in 1888 shortly after his promotion to General of the Army. General Sheridan was one of the few Civil War generals to remain with the army after the war. He was involved in the American Indian Wars and was influential in the founding of Yellowstone National Park. General Philip Sheridan, who was known as "Little Phil," stood 5'4" tall, and there are several good-natured Lincoln quotes (Lincoln was well over 6' tall) poking fun at his diminutive General. His portrait on this note has a photographic-like quality that is simply amazing for a 19th century engraving

***Auction Highlight*** 1910-s St. Gaudens Gold $20 Graded ms66 By SEGS (fc)

Lot # 453 (Sale Order: 312 of 618)

***Auction Highlight*** 1910-s St. Gaudens Gold $20 Graded ms66 By SEGS. The 1910-S double eagle has a healthy mintage of 2.1 million coins and remains collectible in ...moreMS62 through MS64 condition. A few hundred Gems are certified, but the issue becomes genuinely rare in MS66. This is a spectacular example in every regard. Pristine, finely textured surfaces feature thick, frosty mint luster and rich orange-gold color. Eye appeal is exquisite. Liberty's face, torch hand, and the Capitol dome exhibit full strike definition. This is a terrific opportunity for advanced collector. A coin as nice as this would be extremely difficult to upgrade. Tied for 5th finest known, I have included another ms66 for your comparison. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

***Auction Highlight*** 1807 Draped Bust Half Dollar 50c Graded ms65+ By SEGS (fc)

Lot # 454 (Sale Order: 313 of 618)

***Auction Highlight*** 1807 Draped Bust Half Dollar 50c Graded ms65+ By SEGS. A supremely attractive Gem with apple-green borders and violet-red centers. Hints of gol...moreden-brown accompany LIBERTY and AMERICA. Highly lustrous, Satiny surfaces are exceptionally smooth and fully defined from a razor sharp strike. A notably well-struck example of a type and date usually found with overall weakness. Worth a sharp premium accordingly! This coin is sure to appeal to advanced early half dollar specialist or high grade type collector alike. The 1807 represents the final year of Draped Bust half dollar coinage, supplanted later in the year by the new Capped Bust series. The 1807 was produced in large enough numbers that pleasing specimens can be obtained today in lower grades without much difficulty. In Mint State the date is elusive; in Gem Uncirculated, the date is a rarity to be reckoned with. Indeed, we can't help but wonder if the number of grading events for the date at MS-65 might represent one or more resubmissions of the same coin. We suggest a strong bid if you want this in your type set or early half dollar cabinet. I have included the only other ms65 example for your comparison. I will note that the finest known is the m66 Pogue example, which I am also including for your comparison. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

*HIGHLIGHT OF THE AUCTION* 1890-o TOP POP Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms66+ By SEGS (fc)

Lot # 455 (Sale Order: 314 of 618)

*HIGHLIGHT OF THE AUCTION* 1890-o TOP POP Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms66+ By SEGS. HIGHLIGHT OF THE AUCTION – Up for Auction is a TOP POP, Tied for Finest Known 1890-o Mor...moregan. Also none of the other 2 graded as such have ever come to auction. This strike and condition rarity is a very appealing representative of this challenging New Orleans Mint Morgan dollar issue. Central high point detail ranges from bold (obverse) to sharp (reverse), and the coin is free of the extreme softness seen in these areas on most examples of the issue. The luster is full and frosty, and the surfaces are brilliant with an exceptionally smooth texture. The rarity of the 1890-O as a sharply struck Gem has long been recognized by numismatic writers. Wayne Miller (The Morgan & Peace Dollar Textbook) states, "As with all of the 'O' mint dollars from 1887-1897, most specimens [of the 1890-O] are poorly struck." Q. David Bowers (1993) writes: "Most Mint State coins are weakly struck..." Due to this feature, the typical Uncirculated example is confined to lower certified grades through MS-64+, even if the surfaces are lustrous and overall smooth. A noteworthy departure from the norm, this premium quality Gem would do justice to the finest Morgan dollar set. I have included an ms66 for your comparison as no ms66+ has ever come to auction. I think you will agree based on that coin, ours clearly deserves the plus. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

***Auction Highlight*** 1839-c Charlotte Classic Head $2 1/2 Gold Graded au58 Details By SEGS (fc)

Lot # 456 (Sale Order: 315 of 618)

***Auction Highlight*** 1839-c Charlotte Classic Head $2 1/2 Gold Graded au58 Details By SEGS. Winter-2, Variety 22, R.4. The 3 and 9 in the date are noticeably recut...more north on this variety, one of the scarcer varieties for the issue. Doug Winter estimates as many as 300 to 400 examples survive from a mintage of 18,140 coins, although the population thins considerably in the upper AU range, and true Mint State coins are rare. Moreover, high-grade examples of this issue are highly sought-after by Charlotte gold specialists due to its status as the more readily obtainable of the two Classic Head C-mint issues. This nearly Mint State example showcases delightfully original color, with deep coppery-orange hues highlighting medium olive-gold patina overall. A touch of friction slightly mutes the luster, but no mentionable wear is present. We note trivial striking softness on the upper-left portion of the shield, not unusual for the type. The connoisseur will appreciate this piece's old-time appeal. I have included another au58 for your comparison A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. *HIGHLIGHT OF ENTIRE AUCTION* 1909-p TOP POP Gold Indian $2 1/2 Graded ms66+ By SEGS (fc)

Lot # 460 (Sale Order: 319 of 618)

***Auction Highlight*** 1909-p TOP POP Gold Indian Quarter Eagle $2 1/2 Graded ms66+ By SEGS. HIGHLIGHT OF THE ENTIRE AUCTION - Up for Auction is a TOP POP Tied fo...morer Finest Known ms66+ 1909 $2 ½ Gold Indian Quarter Eagle. The sunken relief of Bela Lyon Pratt's Indian quarter eagle design was a first on circulating U.S. coinage. The design lacked a protective rim, leaving the fields exposed to easy abrasion. Soon after the Indian quarter eagle's debut in 1908, the coins became little used in commerce and spent a large portion of their existence in bank vaults or cash drawers, receiving regular coin-to-coin contact. The slightest friction between two Indian quarter eagles could impart surface grazes and hairline scratches that today would limit a grade to no better than MS64. At the MS66 level, even the most plentiful Indian quarter eagle issues become condition rarities, save for the 1908, which was saved in quantity as a first-year novelty. The 1909 is rare in MS66 and not a single coin is known in MS67. There are only two ms66+ Examples, This coin and one other. This coin displays satiny straw-gold luster that appears pristine under magnification. Razor-sharp detail in the headdress feathers and the eagle's wing complements the luminous glow from the recesses. Eye appeal is outstanding for a 1909. A The importance of this top-grade 1909 is exceptional. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

Lot # 461 (Sale Order: 320 of 618)

***Auction Highlight*** 1892-cc vam 10 I3 R4 Morgan Dollar $1 Graded Choice Unc DMPL By USCG. Lot # 462 (Sale Order: 321 of 618)

***Auction Highlight*** 1797 B-1 BB-73 Draped Bust Dollar $1 Graded xf45 By SEGS. This handsome Draped Bust dollar is toned in a blend of dove-gray and lavender-bl...moreue shades. Ample sharpness of strike is noted for both sides. With a well centered strike and few outwardly distracting abrasions, there is much to recommend this coin for inclusion in a high grade circulated type set. BB Die State I. Bowers-Borckardt 73 is the sole die marriage associated with the Stars 9x7, Large Letters Guide Book variety of the 1797 silver dollar, and it is the median scarcity among the three known die pairings of the issue. Q. David Bowers (2013) estimates that 1,300 to 2,100 BB-73 dollars are extant in all grades. Most grade no finer than VF, however. At and above the XF level the conditionally challenging nature of this die variety comes readily to the fore, the present example among the most eye appealing I have seen.

Lot # 465 (Sale Order: 324 of 618)

***Auction Highlight*** 1898-o Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms67+ By SEGS. A brilliant and smartly impressed beauty drenched in satiny mint luster. The history of the 1...more898-O Morgan dollar is similar to that of the more widely promoted 1903-O. From the year of striking nearly into the middle of the 20th century the 1898-O was a phantom among silver dollars, especially in Mint State. It is likely that much of the mintage was included among the 270,232,722 silver dollars destroyed in 1918 under provisions of the Pittman Act.The availability of the 1898-O in Mint State did not change until the silver dollar releases of the early 1960s. And change it did, in dramatic fashion. Thousands of 1898-O dollars, along with 1903-O, 1904-O, and other dates were released. The eventual number of 1,000-coin bags involved is unknown but obviously substantial given the fact that the 1898-O is among the most plentiful Morgan dollars in Mint State. As one of the finest known, this MS-67+ is an impressive condition rarity, equally well suited for a high grade type set or an advanced Morgan dollar collection. There is only one coin graded finer, an GC ms68. Tied for 2nd finest known. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. Lot # 466 (Sale Order: 325 of 618)

***Auction Highlight*** 1923-p Near Top POP Peace Dollar $1 Graded ms67 By SEGS. This enchanting Superb Gem is drenched in smooth, frosty mint luster. Fully struck...more with brilliant bright-white surfaces, it is difficult to imagine a more inviting Peace dollar of the low relief design type. The 1923 is the most plentiful Peace dollar in Mint State, and the issue is readily obtainable in all grades up to and including MS-66. This type as a whole is conditionally rare in MS-67, however, and much more so than the preceding Morgan silver dollar series. The present example is among the finest certified, and it is sure to be of keen interest among both advanced Peace dollar collectors and high grade type collectors.
