The “Doc Abe” Collection is exceptional. Doc Abe was a physician in Alaska for 40 years. He came out of retirement when he heard there was a need and came down to work in a hospital in Tennessee. White he was a lifetime collector, the vast majority of his collection was put together in Tennessee. His family remained in Alaska, so he put a great deal of his new free time towards his collection.

In honor of Doctor Abes long service in 2 states, we present you with the Alaskan “Gateway to the South” Collection.

1878-cc Morgan Dollar Near Top Pop! $1 ms66+ SEGS

Lot # 12981 (Sale Order: 80 of 835)

1878-cc Near Top Pop! Morgan Dollar $1 ms66+ SEGS. This is a beautiful example from the first year of Morgan dollar coinage at the Carson City Mint. Exceptionally ...morewell preserved, both sides are virtually pristine and even under close inspection with a loupe there is little to disturb the smooth, frosty surfaces. Sharply to fully struck throughout, it is difficult for us to imagine a more appealing example of either the type or issue. The Carson City Mint's initial Morgan dollar mintage was 2,212,000 coins in 1878. Unlike many later CC-Mint Morgans (the 1883-CC and 1884-CC, for example), the 1878-CC saw considerable commercial use at the time of striking. In circulated grades it is among the more obtainable CC-Mint Morgans, with most such examples well worn in grades from Good to Fine. Even so, enough of the mintage was retained in government vaults that releases during the 1950s resulted in a temporary glut of coins in dealers' inventories. As significant as they were, those releases were dwarfed by others affecting the 1882-CC, 1883-CC and 1884-CC beginning in the 1960s. The conditionally challenging nature of the 1878-CC comes to the fore in grades above MS-65. In MS-65+ and MS-66 this issue is scarce by Morgan dollar standards, while in MS-66+ and higher grades it is rare. A find for the discerning Carson City Mint or Morgan dollar specialist, we anticipate keen bidder interest in this lovely premium Gem. A Key Date's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin

Original sealed 1959 United States Mint Proof Set Tennessee Valley Hoard

Lot # 12988 (Sale Order: 86 of 835)

Original sealed 1959 United States Mint Proof Set Tennessee Valley Hoard. Once in a lifetime collection We are proud to bring to auction the greatest proof collec...moretion of the late 1950s and early 1960s. This collection may contain some of the only unopened mega boxes of unopened proof sets still in existence. In all my years in numismatics I have never seen a collection like this one. Finding cameo and deep cameo proofs from this era is near impossible u less you pay full retail and buy them already holdered. All of the sets at coin shows have been examined and have virtually no cameos. The only way to get the same odds of finding one of these valuable cameos is to buy an unopened set. Many sets today that are purported to be unopened have a actually been opened and resealed or put into a fresh envelope and sealed. This 100% original lot is guaranteed to be unopened from the day it left the mint. We will cover your laboratory costs and pay you 10x your cost of the set if the carbon dating on this set shows that the glue is not from the late 1950s 1960s. A true once in a lifetime opportunity

1924 Huguenot Old Commem Half Dollar 50c ms67 USCG

Lot # 12995 (Sale Order: 91 of 835)

1924 Huguenot Old Commem Half Dollar 50c ms67 USCG. Issued to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the settlement of New Netherlands, the 1924 Huguenot Walloon Tercentenar...morey Half Dollar was the only commemorative coin released for the year. The following year would see the issuance of coins under four different programs, the greatest number to date, although it would later be exceeded. The subject of commemoration was the founding of New Netherlands, now New York, by a group of Dutch colonists in 1624. A church group known as the Huguenot-Walloon New Netherland Commission sought the commemorative coin program, which was eventually approved. There was some controversy about the role of government in creating a fund raiser for a private church group, although the program proceeded. The obverse of the 1924 Huguenot Half Dollar featured portraits of Admiral Coligny and William the Silent. Although they were not involved in the settlement, they were viewed as leaders in the struggle for religious freedom. An image of the New Nederland is shown on the reverse. This is the ship that brought the settlers to the New World. Both the obverse and reverse were designed by George T. Morgan.

High Value! - Covered End Roll - Marked "Unc Morgan Reserve" - Weight shows x10 Coins (FC)

Lot # 12996 (Sale Order: 92 of 835)

High Value! - Covered End Roll - Marked "Unc Morgan Reserve" - Weight shows x10 Coins (FC). Up for auction is a (10 coin roll marked “Unc Morgan Reserve” and havin...moreg two covered ends and weighing 270.4g), one roll amongst the 2700+ roll hoard which after seeing it can only be described as the Long Island Vault Hoard. Inside the vault are hundreds upon hundreds of dollar rolls. Some are 10 coin rolls some are 20, most are hand marked as to what’s inside and most have covered ends. We have opened about 20 of the rolls and have not found any that were mismarked. The vault at one point I believe had the rolls separated into three sections. The markings standard, premium, limited were marked on the sections. Additionally there was a small safe inside the vault marked “Reserve”. But when we first the saw the hoard, the sections were empty as was the small safe. It appeared that at some point the rolls were all put into canvas bank bags, which bags were all lying on the floor of the vault. The agreement with for the Consignee is that we wire on Friday their portion of the funds for any rolls paid that week and on Mondays we will send our runner up to Long Island to retrieve the rolls for shipment that week from our offices as well as photographing the rolls for the next weeks auction. We hope you enjoy these rolls as much as we have bringing them to you.

1899 $1 large size Silver Certificate "Black Eagle" Grades vf+ Signatures Speelman/White. FR-236 Ranked #16 in the 100 Greatest American Currency Notes, the Series 1899 ...moreBlack Eagle note is from an era when paper money was backed by precious silver, as the issue bears the statement ONE SILVER DOLLAR PAYABLE TO THE BEARER ON DEMAND. It doesn’t take much work to figure out the nickname of the 1899 $1 silver certificate. A quick glance shows three vignettes, an eagle, Ulysses S Grant, and Abraham Lincoln. Somewhere along the way the collecting world decided that this note should be called a “black eagle.” The name has stuck. Whether you have been collected for a week or your entire life, you certainly know what a black eagle is. Grant and Lincoln often get overlooked. That might be for the best since both men are closely associated with several other large size pieces of currency. There are 12 Different Signatures combinations For this Type of note

1881-o Morgan Dollar TOP POP! 1 ms65+ DMPL SEGS

Lot # 13005 (Sale Order: 99 of 835)

1881-o TOP POP! Morgan Dollar 1 ms65+ DMPL SEGS. Frosty and fully struck, the devices appear to float atop highly reflective fields. Brilliant surfaces further enh...moreance the eye appeal, and both sides are exceptionally smooth for this conditionally challenging New Orleans Mint issue. Although the 1881-O is fairly plentiful in Mint State, only a small percentage offer richly contrasting Deep Prooflike fields. These were usually early strikes from the dies when the dies retained the most polish. While these highly contrasting Morgan dollars have long been popular with collectors, they also attract bagmarks in their delicate mirror-like fields, hence high grade Deep Prooflike coins are quite elusive of most dates A Key Date's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation
