**Star Note** 1953A $5 Blue Seal Silver Certificate Choice AU/BU Slider

Lot # 2923 (Sale Order: 377 of 1682)

**Star Note** 1953A $5 Blue Seal Silver Certificate Choice AU/BU Slider. The year 1953 was the last year that the US printed the five dollar silver certificates. T...morehese bills were printed in three different years, so there were three different series: 1953, 1953A, and 1953B,. The 1953 $5 silver certificate looks very similar to the earlier 1934 issues except that the “5” on the left hand side of the note is in blue, and the seal on the right hand side is smaller. Once redeemable for silver coin or bullion, these notes and the redemption option were discontinued by Act of Congress in 1963. Silver Certificates, with their distinctive blue Treasury seals and serial numbers, are among the most sought-after U.S. currency notes. This Series 1953A $5 Silver Certificate bears Priest-Anderson signatures.

***Auction Highlight*** 1907 High Relief, Wire Edge Gold St. Gaudens Double Eagle $20 Graded ms63+ B

Lot # 2935 (Sale Order: 385 of 1682)

***Auction Highlight*** 1907 High Relief, Wire Edge Gold St. Gaudens Double Eagle $20 Graded ms63+ BY SEGS. Per David Akers Of PCGS "The 1907 High Relief Double Ea...moregle is, in my opinion, the most beautiful coin the United States ever issued for normal circulation. Unfortunately, it was not as practical as it was beautiful; the high relief of the standing figure of Liberty and the eagle made the coin impossible to stack properly and thus unpopular and unsuitable for commercial purposes. Minting was also impractical since it reportedly required five blows of the minting press to fully bring up the design making high speed, mass production impossible.Of the 11,250 High Reliefs minted, it is my estimate that 2/3 to 3/4 of this total were the Wire Rim variety since the Flat Rim is at least two to three times as rare as the Wire Rim. The difference between the two varieties was unintentional, i.e. the Mint did not purposely set out to make one variety and then alter the design to make a second variety. (In this regard, the Wire Rim and Flat Rim Double Eagles are not analogous to the Wire Edge and Rolled Edge Eagles which were totally different coins.) The Wire Rim and Flat Rim Double Eagle varieties resulted from the use of different collars. in the case of the Wire Rim variety, the collar was not sufficiently tight and the pressure of the repeated blows forced metal up where the edge of the coin meets the collar to form a very thin wire rim. On most Wire Rims, this raised metal encircles the whole coin, both obverse and reverse, while on the Flat Rim variety, the edge is flat, if not beveled." A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

The 1995 The five coins from the Philadelphia Mint and the related token were packaged in a cello wrapper bordered in blue. The Denver Mint coins and token were in a separate wrapper bordered in red. Along with a certificate of authenticity, the coins were placed within an illustrated envelope. The 1996 Mint Set was highlighted by the inclusion of a specially produced coin to mark the 50th anniversary of the Roosevelt Dime. As the coin was only available through the annual set. The 1996-W Roosevelt Dime was struck at the West Point Mint and carried the “W” mint mark. This extra coin was included in addition to the Kennedy Halves, Washington Quarters, Roosevelt Dimes, Jefferson Nickels, and Lincoln Cents struck at the Philadelphia and Denver Mints. The 1996-W dime was significant, because unlike the other coins it would not be issued for circulation. Packaging for the set highlighted the 50th anniversary of the Roosevelt Dime and the special 1996-W issue on the outer envelope, certificate of authenticity, and an additional insert. The ten regular coins and two mint tokens were sealed within cellophane packs in the usual format. The separate 1996-W Roosevelt Dime was placed within its own smaller individual pack. “The United States Mint Uncirculated Coin Set with D and P Mint Marks”.
