sale of historical artifacts and collectibles, many of which have been featured in numerous historical exhibitions and institutions. Headlining the sale are selections from the General Samuel Houston Collection, victor of the Battle of San Jacinto and first President of the Republic of Texas. These lots include not only artifacts from his early military career including a militia officers chapeau (Lot 72), his field desk (Lot 79), and saddle pad (Lot 77), but also the sword belt (Lot 75), silver spurs (Lot 78) and presentation saber (Lot 74) worn by Houston at San Jacinto. Another artifact from the Battle of San Jacinto, a Mexican General Officer’s Coat attributed to Santa Anna (Lot 91) comes from the collection of James Sylvester, the only color-bearer at the battle as well as the soldier credited with Santa Anna’s capture. **Fair to good condition. Barrel has a mixed plumb and oil stained finish with dulling of brass along with some verdigris. Moderate wear to German silver fittings. Some minor splits and repairs around buttcap. Mechanically functional.**

**Fair condition overall. Barrel has some scattered moderate oxidation and rust scaling. Stock shows an old stable crack throughout the circumference of the grip with some additional old splitting around pins. Action is non-functional.**

American Kentucky Flintlock Pistol

**Very good condition overall. Barrel has a light plumb patination leading to nearly black near breech. Lockplate has a dusty plumb color with some handling marks and blemishes to stock, including a small sliver of replaced wood on the left side of the piece along the barrel channel. Action is functional but has a weak sear. Good bore.**

**Good condition. Barrel has an untouched dark gunmetal patination with smooth even pitting throughout. Some minor sections of missing wood with some wear to sharp edges from age and possible refinishing. Action holds at half and full-cock but does not release upon trigger pull. Bore is good with some old grime and scaling.**

**Good condition. Some dulling of brass with visible case hardening to locks. Stocks have some handling marks and blemishes including one pistol showing some insect damage and one with an old stable crack through the wrist that has previously been repaired with a screw. Actions are functional.**

Pair of Percussion Pistols by Theophilus Richards & Co., London (1771-1874)

Theophilus Richards & Company was a family business involving Theophilus Richards Sr. and his sons Theophilus Jr. and William. The firm made both guns and fittings, and enjoyed a lucrative contract with the British Army. Theophilus would also operate a mercantile firm known as "Theophilus Riachards & Co.".
**Very good condition overall. Barrels show a light gunmetal coloration with some scattered oxidation and good patterning remaining on Damascus. Some visible case hardening on locks. Stocks show some minor handling blemishes. Actions function normally. Bores are bright with some old oil. A nice pair indeed.**

Pair of German Percussion Pistols by Franz Ulrich, Orbendorf (1771-1845)

Franz Ulrich had a tumultuous career in gunmaking, being made the Director of the arms factory in Oberndrof in 1812, being terminated from that position in 1820. In 1823 he was named the Supervisor of Ludwigsburg, only to be released permanently from government service a year later. Shortly after, he opened his own shop in Stuttgart. He filed for and received two patents, one for a fuse and one for a concealed-lock percussion action.
**Good condition overall. Barrels have an overall pewter patination with scattered moderate pitting and original twist steel pattern being somewhat difficult to discern. Stocks show some handling marks and blemishes as well as retaining the original varnish. Actions are functional with bores showing some old grime and dusty oxidation.**

19th Century Kentucky Flintlock Pistol with Long Barrel

**There is a sliver of wood 13" long missing on the left side of the stock. Stock has some nicks and dings. Nice tight lines around the lockplate. Original flint. The lock and barrel has a nice even dark patina. Overall very good.**

Rare Snider Conversion Pistol
Lot # 163 (Sale Order: 163 of 429)
Ramrod, ramrod pipe, saddle ring, saddle ring bar, triggerguard, lockplate, and buttcap all marked with "7" numeral. Lock internals marked with matching "[crown]/E" inspection marking, as is ramrod. This piece was likely a British Pattern 1856 Carbine before being converted to the Snider breechloading system.
**Good condition overall. Bluing has thinned to a dark streaked gunmetal patination with some oxidation to breech. Lockplate has been cleaned internally and externally. Some handling marks and blemishes to stock. Action is tight and functional with a good bore.**
