One engraved with a 24 star America flag, used from 1822 - 1832, 10" through the curve, wood base with a turned ring and flats on the spout.  Wood plug.  Excellent condition with nice untouched patina.  13.5"  through the curve, one iron ring on the spout, Wood base with ring. no engraving just a plain powder horn in very nice untouched condition.

French And Indian War Engraved Powder Horn

Lot # 29 (Sale Order: 29 of 293)      

9.25" length. French and Indian War Powder Horn inscribed with the initials E.l.R near the butt and with incised initials W.B/ on the wooded base plug. The owner is unidentified appears to be French and Indian War period c 1760.  The wider part of the horn engraved all around with a stylized view of the town of Albany, a sailboat, birds, and stylized plants: cow horn, left thicker at the butt end, fitted with domed wooden cover on the butt, centering a post and loop suspender. 

Provenance:  From an estate of a Maryland Collector purchased by Bill Guthman October 1989.

War of 1812 Engraved Powder Horn

Lot # 30 (Sale Order: 30 of 293)      

A beautiful horn that measures 9" through a slight curve.  The base measures 3.5" in width with carved geometric pattern and finials outlined by a small piece of colored glass fitted to the geometric design.   The body of the horn with several engraved scenes that include a ship, house with fence surrounded by trees and moon, several farm animals and floral vines.  Near the base of horn with circular pattern and Masonic square and compass.  Marked with initials "M.F." next to "Jun".  Dated "1812".  President James Madison signed the Declaration of War against Great Britain.  Good condition overall with the base and spout with a dark brown patina.  The body with a nice yellow to mustard patina.  There is a crack from base to Masonic symbol.  The horn is original and in  Overall very good condition.

A French Indian War Engraved Powder Horn Belonging to John Marble

Lot # 31 (Sale Order: 31 of 293)      

English, 18th century. An engraved powder horn, carved within horn states John Marble his horn 1765, housed within geometrical shaped patterns, length of horn is 12 inch. 

John Marble, born in Sutton, Massachusetts in 1759, was a soldier who served in the Revolutionary War. He enlisted in the Continental Army in 1776 and served in Captain Adam Martin's Company in Colonel Jonathan Holman's Regiment. He was later transferred to Captain James Bancroft's Company in Colonel Benjamin Tupper's Regiment, where he served until his discharge in 1780.

During his service, Marble participated in several significant battles, including the Battle of Saratoga and the Battle of Monmouth. He was also present during the winter encampment at Valley Forge.

After the war, Marble settled in Maine, where he lived for the rest of his life. He passed away on May 30, 1830, and is buried in Dixfield, Maine, at the East Dixfield Cemetery.

Marble's service in the Revolutionary War is commemorated by the Daughters of the American Revolution, who have placed a marker at his grave. His contributions to the cause of American independence are remembered and appreciated by those who honor his memory.


Overall in good condition. Octagonal carved spouted tip, original butt plate and nails.

12" clip point blade and marked on the ricasso "Ames Mfg Co, Chicoppee Mass". The reverse marked USN over D.R. and dated 1863. Brass guard and backstrap with wood handle. Marked in the top of the brass pommel a cartouche of DR in an oval. Leather scabbard with brass tip and brass throat. Blade is excellent untouched with original polish marks. The brass tip scabbard in excellent condition. Pattern 1853 British Enfield Rifled Musket with Bayonet

.577 bore diameter, 39" barrel length, NSN.  Top of the barrel marked with "VR" over crown.  Lock marked with crown over "VR".  Just in front of hammer a faint marking which appears to be "Tower".  British unit markings on top of the butt plate.  Rear sight is a period replacement.  3 band stock.  Polished barrel and hammer with case color lock that is blending to a plum patina with oxidation.  Stock with a crack near butt plate and lock.  Nicks and dings throughout.  Brass on butt plate and forend cap with yellowing patina.  Complete with bayonet and leather sling.

Rare Model 1853 Sporting Rifle

90 bore or 36 caliber, 21" barrel, S/N 10698, rear sporting barrel sight with sporting front blade. Iron mounted furniture and patchbox. Double set triggers. Lockplate marked Sharps Patent and dated 1852.  The barrel marked Sharps Rifle Co Hartford Ct.  Varnished stock and forearm  The barrel retains some of the original blue finish smooth and turning a nice brown.  The frame is smooth and a nice untouched brown.  Stock and forearm still retains a lot of the original varnished finish.  The bore is very good.  An excellent rifle overall in this rare configuration.

Very rare being one of three thousand produced.

This is a Finnish captured rifle.  Excellent bore and overall excellent condition.  These original sniper rifles are rare.

The bolt numbers and receiver match. The stock is sharp and crisp, has some nicks and dings.and is almost mint.  This is an outstanding Japanese WWII rifle.

**Japanese Type 99 Short Rifle GI Bring Back From WWII

7.7 MM caliber, 26" barrel, S/N 82491, Izawa arsenal a subcontractor for Nagoya.  Wood stock and handguard. Still has the mum, and all markings are sharp and crisp.  This rifle retains a lot of the original finish.  The most interesting part of this rifle has seen action as it has been hit by shrapnel in three different areas with one penetrating just above the floor plate and two in the wrist on the left side. A truly great GI bring back from WWII and specifically the South Pacific.  This rifle tells a story.

The bolt is marked D-6528287 IHC.  The safety is marked IHC, the triggerguard is marked 6528290IHC.  The bore is sharp and crisp with deep rifling and is bright and shiny.  The metal has a nice even look.  The wood has a nice even dark look with excellent eagle cartouche.  Overall an excellent IHC M-1 Garand .

**Exceptional U.S. Model 1903 Mark I Rifle

30-06 caliber, 24" barrel, S/N 1111401, Receiver marked Mark I, The barrel marked behind the front sight SA flaming Bomb SA 9-19.  The left side of the receiver has a milled slot where the Pederson Devise can be inserted.  The rifle was parkerized.  Walnut stock and handguard.  This rifle is in mint condition.  The barrel and the receiver retain all of the parkerized finish.  The stock and handguard has a nice untouched open grained wood.  A mint cartouche on the left side WJS in a rectangular box.  A mint firing proof behind the triggergaurd.  If you have a great Pederson devise this is the rifle you need.

30-06 caliber, 24" barrel, S/N 623957, barrel marked behind front sight SA over flaming bomb over 2-16. 2700 yard rear barrel sight, front sight cover.  Walnut stock and handguard.  One stock bolt which is proper for this rifle. The triggerguard has the NRA and flaming bomb markings on the forward part.  of the triggerguard.  The receiver still retains a most of the arsenal blue finish.  The barrel still retains nearly all of the arsenal blue finish.  The stock has a mint JFC cartouche in a rectangular. The stock and handguard have a nice untouched mint open grain look with sharp and crisp finger grooves.  This rifle is is exceptional.

Nepalese Gahendra Rifle

Lot # 46 (Sale Order: 46 of 293)      

.450/.577 caliber, 33.25" barrel, NSN. Blued finish with military stock retained by two barrel bands. Blade front sight with elevator rear sight. Top of receiver marked with Nepalese markings and date.

These rifles were domestically made under the direction of General Gahendra Rana. While it resembles the venerable British Martini-Henry, the internal mechanisms are quite different, and are more closely based on a Westley Richards design.

**Very good condition overall. Barrel retains its original blued finish with some thinning on edges and working parts. Stock shows some handling marks and blemishes from age and use. Action is functional with a mostly bright barrel showing visible rifling.

British Snider-Enfield Cavalry Carbine

.577 caliber, 19.25" barrel, S/N 6231. Blued finish with walnut stock secured by single barrel band. Blade front sight with ladder rear sight graduated from 100-600. Barrel marked throughout with proofs and War Department acceptance markings including " [crown]/V.R.". Lockplate marked with Victorian crown rear of hammer and " 1871/ENFIELD" forward, along with Indian " [upwards arrow]/I" stamp. Stock has been hand-carved on the left side of butt " W. HOPE". Right side of stock shows "DC" in diamond stamp indicating use by Canadian Militia. Enfield stock roundel shows " I/[downwards arrow]".

**Good condition overall. Barrel has an overall untouched plumb patina with some thinning on high areas and working parts. Stock shows some scattered marks and blemishes from age and use. Action is tight and functional.**
