Description

Lewis and Grant's May 24th Arms and Armor Auction presented an exceptional assortment of historic firearms and rare weaponry. Featured items included an Important Texas Presentation Fullstock Percussion Rifle, a Rare 1st Pattern Confederate National Flag, and a Rare Carl Heinemann 1929 Test Rifle for US Military Trials. Enthusiasts also vied for an Excellent Antique Deluxe Casehardened 1886 Winchester and a Civil War Sharps New Model 1863 linked to Buffalo Bill. Notable pieces such as a Museum Quality Reproduction of an 1876 Gatling Gun, a Factory Case Colored Model 1892 Winchester, and an Extremely Rare Vintage Westley Richards Shotgun were highlights. Additionally, a Magnificent Factory Presentation Savage Model 99 and a Martini Action Relief Chiseled Schuetzen Rifle from Germany drew considerable interest. This auction epitomized the enduring fascination and historical significance of arms and armor collectibles.

Deluxe Colt Army Mahogony And Brass Banded Case

16.375" X 6.75" 2.25", Mahogony with brass bands on the top of the case, partition for a flask and Mold and balls and a compartment for packets of Skin cartridges, red lined.  The case has an oiler and some conical balls. Comes with the key for the case.  The box is in excellent condition with the lining lightly faded, but all original.  This would fit an outstanding pistol.

Remington Long Range Rolling Block Rifle

44-100 caliber, 34" Octagonal to round barrel, S/N 6512, front spirit level sight, long range rear tang sight, the base on the heel of the stock.  Blue barrel, case colored frame and nose cap.  Checkered pistol grip with plain forearm with metal tip. The barrel retains nearly all of the blue finish.  A little wear to the high edges and some thinning to a plum.  The frame retains most of the bright case colored finish..  The sight have nearly all of the bright blue finish.  The stock and forearm are excellent.  The bore is bright and shiny.  Overall this is a excellent long range rifle.

Heavy Barrel Bufflo Sharps Rifle

.40 caliber. 30" octagonal barrel, S/N C 20687, Heavy barrel 1.250" across the flats of the barrel.  This a factory conversion of a civil war carbine action.  They installed a new barrel and replaced the forearm with a new two screw forearm.  The barrel Has the Sharps markings, made in Bridgeport. A rear Springfield Buffington rear barrel sight and front folding beach sight.  The barrel has a lot of the original blue finish, the frame retains a lot of the case colors.  The stock and forearm with nice feathered untouched  look.  The bore is bright and shiny with five lands and grooves.

Colt Burgess Lever Action Rifle

.44-40 caliber, 25" octagonal barrel, S/N 4498, full magazine, German silver blade front sight, notched rear sight with elevator, blue finish with walnut stock and forearm. Colt two line markings on the top of the barrel.  Rampart Colt on the left side of the frame. The barrel and magazine still retains a lot of the original blue finish.  The frame is mostly light patina with blue in protected areas.  Stock and forearm still retains most of the original varnish.  The bore is bright and shiny excellent. This is a hard rifle to find in this condition.

Ballard Deluxe Pacfic Rifle No 5

45-70 Caliber, 30" octagonal barrel, S/N 12446, Wood ramrod under the barrel, Left side of the frame with Marlin markings.  Double set triggers, Rear Ballard tang sight, front folding beech, rear barrel dovetail has a nicely made blank seat. , Checkered forearm and checkered stock,  original varnish finish.The barrel retains a lot of the original bright blue with wear to the high edges.  The frame is mostly mottled gray with some colors showing.  The bore is excellent.  Overall this is a very sharp and crisp rifle with lots of finish remaining.  One of the outstanding Ballard Pacific No 5 rifles known.  .

**Winchester Model 1894 Carbine

Lot # 148 (Sale Order: 148 of 403)      

30 WCF caliber, 20" round barrel, S/N 167221 (circa 1902).  Full magazine. Blue finish with case colored lever and hammer.  The carbine retains nearly all of the original  bright blue finish, the loading gate retains all of the water blue finish.  This carbine is just a bout mint condition.  A little wear on the bottom of the front band. A slight mar on the left side of the frame cause by the saddle ring. The bore is bright and shiny.  The stock and forearm has that nice untouched orange look with open feather grain.

.30 WCF caliber, 26" round barrel, S/N 49914 (ca. 1896). Blued finish with walnut stock and iron rifle-type butt. Blade front sight with folding leaf rear sight and aperture tang sight.

**Fine condition overall. Barrel retains nearly all of its original blued finish with some wear on underside of frame and light scratches on receiver. Some very minor handling marks and blemishes to stock. Bore is bright with very good rifling. A very attractive gun in an excellent state of condition for being over a century old.**

12 gauge, 30" barrel, S/N 59443, Made in 1898, blue finish, plain walnut stock with rounded knob style pistol grip.  Early three screw grooved forearm.  This early shotgun is in excellent condition retaining nearly all of the original blue finish.  A couple of light minute scratches to the frame on the left and right side.  The stock and forearm retain nearly all of the original varnished finish.  The bore is bright and shiny.
