Description

Lewis and Grant's May 24th Arms and Armor Auction presented an exceptional assortment of historic firearms and rare weaponry. Featured items included an Important Texas Presentation Fullstock Percussion Rifle, a Rare 1st Pattern Confederate National Flag, and a Rare Carl Heinemann 1929 Test Rifle for US Military Trials. Enthusiasts also vied for an Excellent Antique Deluxe Casehardened 1886 Winchester and a Civil War Sharps New Model 1863 linked to Buffalo Bill. Notable pieces such as a Museum Quality Reproduction of an 1876 Gatling Gun, a Factory Case Colored Model 1892 Winchester, and an Extremely Rare Vintage Westley Richards Shotgun were highlights. Additionally, a Magnificent Factory Presentation Savage Model 99 and a Martini Action Relief Chiseled Schuetzen Rifle from Germany drew considerable interest. This auction epitomized the enduring fascination and historical significance of arms and armor collectibles.

**German Three Barrel Drilling Shotgun/Rifle

16 gauge, rifle chamber TBA, 26.5" barrels, S/N 5837, German maker marked on the top of the barrel, The sidelocks beautifully engraved with stag, Dog and water fowl, foliage and trees. Finely Checkered forearm, Finely figured walnut checkered pistol grip stock with horn pistol grip cap.  Horn triggerguard.  Rubber recoil pad. Engraved cartridge holder in the bottom of stock. Barrel still retain a slightly dull blue finish.  The frame is a dull gray, sharp and crisp.overall. Stock and forearm has some nicks and dings, The bores are bright and shiny.  A very nice drilling.

375 HH Magnum, 25" barre, S/N 369027, circa 1956-1957.  Blue finish with Checkered walnut stock and Winchester rubber recoil pad.  Hooded front ramp sight, express rear barrel sight.  Mounted with a scope , the mount is on the left side of the receiver and by Paul Jaeger,  A kollmorgen scope 23/4 X.   Retaining nearly all of the original blue finish.  The receiver was finish in a satin look, retaining all of that finish.  The bore is excellent.

Cased Pair Of Belgium Percussion Pistols

.44 caliber, 10.5" octagonal barrel, Barrel have a etched gray finish. Finely engraved Patent breeches.   Top of breeches marked with 1 and the other with 2.  Finely engraved forward action percussion locks. Deep relief engraved Silver hardware.  Engraved with Gothic figures.  Fluted and carved fancy figured walnut stocks.  Cased in a finely figured wood case,  French style case  with original accessories. This a beautiful set, the barrels are sharp and crisp, the locks are in excellent condition.  The stocks are excellent.  The furniture is excellent with nice deep relief engraving.  The case has some nicks and dings one repaired crack on the rear of the lid.  Overall this a excellent set.

Factory Engraved Silver And Gold Marlin Model 1887 DA Revolver

.32 caliber, 3.25" barrel, S/N 10161, The barrel, cylinder and frame are finely engraved with scrolls and finished with silver plating.  The hammer, triggerguard, trigger and screws are finished in Gold.  Pearl grips.  Overall this revolver retains almost all of the original plated finish.  The silver has turned to a high dark blue patina.  Retains all of the gold finish.  Overall excellent condition for this factory engraved Marlin Revolver.  An outstanding small revolver with special features.

38 S&W caliber, 3.5" barrel, S/N 13094.  German silver blade front sight.   Factory engraved.  The frame, barrel and cylinder have nice tight scroll work, finished in blue, the hammer, triggerguard and trigger are finished in gold.  Pearl grips.  This revolver retains nearly all of the blue finish and the gold finish.  One of the best Factory engraved Marlin revolvers known. Custom Finished Antique Colt Single Action For Major H K Milks

Lot # 190 (Sale Order: 190 of 403)      

.45 caliber, 5.5" barrel, S/N 116726, The frame, barrel and hammer finished in nickel finish, The cylinder, backstrap and triggerguard are finish in blue then finely engraved or cuts, and gold damascene fill into the engraving or cuts.  The backstrap is engraved and gold Damascene with his name Major H.K. Milks AO -361665.  Two-piece pearl grips.  Overall very artistic item, retaining most the new finish. 

Major Harold K. Milks was known as the Associated Press Havana Bureau Chief. Milks had a turbulent time in Cuba having to take cover for 6 weeks in a friendly embassy during the Bay of Pigs as well as being kicked out of Cuba. Milks also reported on the loss and the recovery of hydrogen bombs in Palomares, Spain. Later in his career Milks was Latin Affairs editor for The Republic in Phoenix.

**Custom Engraved Colt 1911A1 22 Conversion For Major Harold K Milks

22 caliber, 5" barrel, S/N 261363-C, Marked on the left side of the slide Conversion Unit, Colt Automatic 22 caliber.  Engraved on the top of the slide Major Harold K. Milks AO-361665.  This pistol has been customized by blue finish and then use of engraving with Gold Damascene.  Custom plated grips with gold designs.  Target sights.  This pistol is completely covered with gold Damascene and fully engraved.  Overall the condition is excellent retaining nearly all of the finish and gold.
