Colt Model 1860 Army, Fluted Cylinder, 3 Digit Serial Number

Lot # 10

Colt Model 1860 Army, Fluted Cylinder, 3 Digit Serial Number, SN: 360

From the Very Rare and Desirable First Production Run of the Colt Model 1860 Army Revolver Accompanied with Letter from Colt Expert, R.L. Wilson.

This Gun Offers the Following Distinguished Features:

The Low Serial, Number
The Revolver Being the 360th Made Out of Over 200,000 Specimens of the 1860 Army,
Fluted Cylinder Marked with the Serial Number is one of the Flutes and with Rare Feature Lacking Patent Date Roll Marking
7.5" Barrel with the Top Marking ADDRESS SAM COLT HARTFORT CT, Four Screw Frame Cut for Third Type Attachable Shoulder Stock,
Army Size Grip of Varnished Walnut, COLTS/PATENT Marking on Left Side of Frame,
Silver Plated Iron Backstrap,
Silver Plated Brass Trigger guard Strap
Case Hardened Frame
Loading Lever and Hammer Blued Barrel, Cylinder, Screws and Wedge with High Polish, High Gloss Finish.

Early Serial Number Guns (pre-dating April 15 1861) are Regarded as Probable Pieces for Southern Shipment, and Therefore, are Likely to have Confederate States of America Associations.

This Revolver Retains Much of it's Factory Quality High Blue Finish with the Balance of Blue Flaked Off as Opposed to Worn Off- This is Typical for this Finish.

The Hammer, Loading Lever and Frame Have a Remarkable Amount of Vivid Case Hardened Color Finish Still In Tact. The Trigger guard and Backstrap Also Retain Most of their Silver Plated Finish and Excellent Throughout.

Grips are Excellent, Retaining Nearly All Finish and Showing Only Very Minor Wear at the Edges of the Heels.

Serial Numbers on Frame, Cylinder, Trigger guard, and Backstrap are all Matching. All Screwheads are in Excellent Condition.

Mr. Wilson Noted in His Letter, A Comment is in Order Due to the Unusually Fine Condition of Serial Number 360 Colt Army: Because of the Demand for These Arms in the Civil War Effort, In America's Westward Expansion, For Export Sales, and So Forth, Specimens are Seldom Found with the Excellence of Condition of this Revolver. That is Particularly Noteworthy due to the Low Serial Number, the Majority of Early Arms Being Subjected to Harsh Use, and Therefore, Usually Noticeably Lacking in Blue, Case Hardening, Silver Plating and Varnish.

Serial Number 360 Colt Model 1860 Army Revolver is a Superior Specimen of the Type, and Worthy of the Finest Private or Museum Firearms Collection.
