Spectacular Carved Flower Study By Manfred Wild Idar-Oberstein, Germany
A Virtuoso flower study of very large scale. It incorporates 5 separate stems, each with a different flower set into a removable rock crystal vase having an everted rim, engraved with a floral decoration. It is raised on a carved vase of Argentinian rainbow flourite above a circular plinth of polished rock crystal, having an engraved band of 18K yellow gold. The Varied flower stems are as follows: one with three lilies carved of fine quality amethyst, the stamens composed 10 oval faceted orange spessartite garnets , weighing a total of 2.03 carats, having 10 polished nephrite leaves; one with two carved amethyst irises and a bud, together having five oval cut spessartite garnets forming the stamens, weighing approximately 1.01 carats and 7 nephrite leaves; a third designed as a spray of lilacs with 126 yellow aragonite flowers and 5 saussirite leaves (saussirite is a mineral aggregate composed of a microscopic mixture of several other minerals including zoisite, epidote, sericite, albite, and scapolite. Named after the Swiss explorer Horace Benedict de Saussure, it was discovered on the slopes of Mont Blanc); the fourth, a lilac spray with 50 white frosted rock crystal flowers and six saussirite leaves, and the fifth, a stem composed entirely of 18K yellow gold
