Early Savage Model 1899 lever action rifle, .303 Savage caliber, Serial #34004. The rifle is in very good overall condition with a 26” round barrel with a Beeches fol...moreding front sight and rear sight removed with the dove tail filled. The barrel retains a significant amount of toning blue finish with areas of light surface erosion and wear at the muzzle. The receiver retains the majority of the flaking blue finish with the remainder drifting to brown/grey patina. The rotary magazine works well with the brass cartridge counter on the left side of the receiver and a period tang sight has been added. The lever assembly shows muted case hardening particularly in the protected areas. The smooth wood stock is in good condition with mars and compressions. The bore is good, the action is crisp and the markings are sharp on this early Model 99. Est.: $600-$1,200. (C+R).

Winchester 1892 Lever Action S.R.C. in .32-20 caliber remaining in very good plus original condition and made about 1914, S/N 759979. 90%-95% plus original blue on mag...more and barrel with sharp markings and crisp edges. Extra proof on the barrel (H.P.?). Normal P.W. moved forward and “P.W.” on the frame. The frame has drifted to 20%-40% blue with balance light gray metal. The stocks are crisp but marks in butt and scratches knock rating down to good to very good from near fine impeccable wood to metal fit. Great action and very good plus bore. 20IU-1 PRESENTATION GRADE U.S. MILITIA OFF. SWORD

Lot # 203 (Sale Order: 256 of 1164)      

Presentation Grade U.S. Militia Officer’s sword circa 1850’s to Civil War era with a fancy etched and gilt blade with “Nashville” in the center panel. The sword is 38...more ½” in overall length with a 32” straight blade. The sword is richly gold gilded, fancy guard and pommel. The quillions and pommel nut show “Artichoke” type decorations with fluted silver grips. The blade shows stands of flags, eagles and the charge of Christian knights in a Holy land style scene. The blade shows a false Damascus style pattern. The etching runs approximately 18” down the blade with 50% plus of the gold wash remaining. The overall condition is very good plus to nearly fine with minor, normal aging. A rare sword from an area that had family members on both sides during the Civil War. Ex-James “Jimmy” Fowler collection. Est.: $1,000-$2,000+++.

General George Henry Thomas was known as, “The Rock of Chickamauga” and was argu...moreably the most successful fighting general of the Civil War, never losing a battle. His success at the Battle of Nashville was one of the most decisive battles of the conflict, as were his actions at the Battle of Chickamauga, where he saved the Army of the Cumberland. His career throughout the war was exemplary in every way and he is hailed as one of the top three Union commanders alongside Grant and Sherman. The flask measures 10” from the tip to the bottom and originally the base unscrewed to become a cup, however it is now locked in place with a few dents from carry and showing slight wear. Provenance-The Norm Flayderman collection, who acquired the Thomas sword, this flask and trunk containing the General’s effects. Est.: $7,500-$15,000.

Fancy carved and silver mounted walking stick with the name, “General D.W. Burke” with silver wire inlay at center. The silver cap is inscribed “Uncle Dan from JAC”. ...more The blackened hardwood shaft of cane is carved in floral and geometric motifs. The cane is of lightweight with narrow diameter and measures 33 ½” in overall length. D.W. Burke began his career as a private in the U.S. Infantry and advanced through the ranks in his 40 years of service, retiring as a Brigadier General. He was recognized for gallantry at the Battle of Gettysburg and received a brevette promotion for meritorious service and was also awarded the Medal of Honor at the Battle of Shepherdstown, West Virginia. He is buried alongside other American heroes at Arlington National Cemetery. The condition is good with some silver wire missing. Est.: $1,000-$2,000.

The grips fit impeccably but worn almost smooth. Crisp markings, sound action and bright bore with fully readable “Colt Frontier Six Shooter”. Front sight is its full height. Southern full stocked percussion rifle circa 1850-1860’s stamped, “J.S.” in large letters on the barrel attributed to J. Sutherland, Richmond, Virginia. The rifle is ...moreformerly part of the Fred Slayton Confederate Arms collection. The rifle measures approximately 52 ½” in overall length with a 37” medium weight rifled octagon barrel of approximately .50-.52 caliber. The rifle has a simple incised border carving extending around the cheek piece to the center of the wrist and at the fore end. The rifle is in good, as found and uncleaned condition with a dark brown patina on the metal. There is scattered light to moderate pitting and erosion with slightly heavier pitting at the firing area around the nipple. The stock is in very good condition with the majority of its dark stained finish showing wear through to lighter color wood beneath. Deep uncleaned patina on brass mounts. The stock shows wear and carry but is at very good overall. The triggers set and the action works well. The ramrod is an old, carved homemade example from the period of use.

American assembled flintlock musket of the Revolutionary War era combining Continental and British elements in a reddish colored re-stock probably of American origin. ...more The gun has small proofs on the left breech of the barrel possibly “J.A.” with a “J” on the side plate, which appears French. The touch hole has been enlarged to work with a replaced during period of use lock. The stock has molding around the tang and a sharp peak to the comb indicating a commercial maker with American motifs. The rifle is 54 ½” in total length with a 44” barrel. A crude ramrod of the period is included. The stock is very good plus condition and the musket has a good matching patina on the lock and metal parts. The lock is not operating at the time of description. $2,500-$5,000. (Antique).

Inspected by R.A.C. and J.T.T. with approximately 30-60% ...moreof the original blue remains with scattered light to moderate pitting. The hard rubber grips are good with minor edge wear. The action is working but lock up is a bit “wobbly”. Good bore and markings. One of a group identified by the oversize trigger guard that protected the enlarged trigger that was designed to allow more bearing surface and greater fulcrum to detonate military primers. Colt SAA Revolver in .38-40 caliber with a 7 ½” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, and carved medallion grips, S/N 255932. The revolver shows most of the original ...moreand colorful case hardening on the frame and hammer. The barrel and ejector rod housing along with hi points show holster wear on the left from carry on the right side. The straps show 30%-50% blue and losses from handling. The cylinder shows 50%-70% blue with deep index line and losses of finish at front from firing. The grips are not a perfect fit and from another Colt showing “War Eagle”. The grips are very good with minor cracks and yellowing. Front sight reduced slightly. The action locks up tight and bore bright. Case colors are 80%-90% and with great rainbows remaining.
