Railway Express Co., W.A. Field Agent, Chicago, IL on Dec. 23, 1926, 24 guns in shipment (confirmed by Colt factory letter accompanying this lot). Revolver displays approximately 75-85%original blue with even edge and holster wear; grips show some carry and wear at high points and butt; sharp overall and with very complete supportive display items and accessories including an R.E.A.-marked leather flap holster, a porcelain Railway Express Agency sign, 3 patches, an enameled cap badge, sticker and seals. Also present is a Xerox copy of a letter of provenance written by his widow stating this gun and these items were the property of Bill Trimmell, Agent and manger of several area offices of the REA (Spokane, WA; Denver, CO. and Albuquerque, NM.). Custom Remington Model 700 bolt action rifle, approximately .30 caliber, Serial #227454. The rifle is in fine overall condition with a 27 ½” matte stainless steel bul...morel barrel. The barrel is not caliber marked but measures approximately .30 caliber. The receiver retains nearly all of its blue finish with light handling marks and a picatinny style rail has been added for scope mounting. The H-S Precision synthetic stock is in very good condition with a solid rubber butt pad providing a 13 ½” LOP and features an accessories rail under the fore end. The bore is very good, the action is crisp and the markings are sharp. The rifle is topped with a Leupold Vari-X III 6.5 x 20 variable power rifle scope with an adjustable objective with clear, crisp optics. This is an outstanding custom target rifle by Gruning Precision that would be prohibitively expensive to have made today. Est.: $1,400-$2,800. (Modern).

Garrett on February 7, 1881, signed by him on back as Sheriff of Lincoln County certifying his expenses, sealed and clerk signed for receipt and payment of expenses; approximately 12” x 15” overall. Accompanied by a like framed and matted early map of New Mexico, approximately 26.5” x 20” overall. With this lot is a Certificate of Authenticity from Little John’s Antique Arms and informational letter dated Nov. 9, 1999. A great piece of Western American history with the warrant being served by Garrett on Billy the Kid approximately 4 months before the Kid was killed by Garrett after his escape from jail. Important and museum quality American Revolutionary War Era Jaegar rifle belonging to Capt. J. Vrooman of Albany Co., New York. A light scratch inscribed inscription o...moren outside of trigger guard reads “Taken from Walter Butler’s Indian, 30 Day of Oct. 1781” and a old museum installed plaque is affixed to belly of the stock which reads “No. 6 Capt. J. Vrooman’s Rifle Recovered by Friends” which was installed when displayed by New York Historical Society. Originally sold John S. DuMont Collection Lot 152 Jan. 22nd, 2008 by Little Johns Auction Service Inc. This rifle is of carbine length measuring 36” overall with a 21 ¼” barrel of .68 caliber deeply rifled. Brown patina finish with light to moderate erosion and minor pinprick pitting. The stock is good to very good with minor losses and slight imperfections. Tunis Vrooman led a militia group near Albany, New York that was seeking Walter Butler’s Indians after raids on upstate New York settlements. Accompanied by a typewritten not that describes and includes information on this flintlock including that it was purchased on April 28, 1961 from Theodore Dexter who obtained it from the famous Frank E. Bivans collection. A brass tag numbered “355” is attached to the trigger guard and appears to be the number assigned to this piece in the Bivans collection. Est.: $1,400-$2,800.

Accompanied by a typewritten letter describing this Colt and with consignor indication that this gun came to him from his father-in-laws estate (Dr. Robert Dalrymple) and was the Doctor’s Uncle’s firearm, (Charles Hoagland Dalrymple).
