Winchester Model 1873 SRC in .44-40 caliber remaining in fine original condition, S/N 429044B and made in 1892. This carbine shows 95%-98% bright blue on the barrel an...mored tube. Some toning on the bands with slight losses to finish. The frame shows 90%-95% original blue with some loss and toning on the left side plate. The hammer and lever shows toned case colors. The stocks show a slightly better grain to the wood and are varnished in excellent condition. The stocks fit impeccably and are higher than metal indicating original finish. Outstanding Springfield Officer’s Model Trapdoor rifle, .45-70 caliber, 26” barrel, blued and case hardened finish, in excellent to near mint original condition with o...moreriginal deluxe burl wood stock, cartouche “SWP/1885”. This stunning rifle retains 99%+ original bright blue and case hardened finish that is still very vivid and fiery and just some slight beginning hint of age. The rifle is fitted with original deluxe, checkered and varnished wood stocks that are also fine to excellent and show a very fancy grain. The interior shows little to no use and no real evidence of firing; an original ramrod is included and the small parts and springs show bright original blue, the front sight shows its original gold plate, the rear sight shows all of its original blue as does the butt plate. According to sophisticated experts on Springfield Officers’ Models, there were only eight with deluxe burl wood stocks and those were reserved for Generals whose names were known but the recipient of each particular gun is not known. Accompanying this Henry is a three ring binder including the lineage of the gun’s movement through the Wands family, additional copies of information on the history of several Wands family members as well as copies of U.S. National Archives military and pension records. Lafayette Wands enlisted as a Private on Aug. 6, 1862, was mustered into Co. “A” of the 95th on Sept. 4, 1862, and was mustered out on Aug. 17, 1865. The 95th Illinois Infantry served primarily in the Southern theater of the Civil War having been involved with Grant’s operations against the Confederacy including the Vicksburg campaign, battles in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama including participation in the battles of Kennesaw Mountain, Chattahoochee River, Atlanta, Ezra Church, Jonesboro and Lovejoy’s Station. Colt 1862 Police inscribed “Wm. G. Moore, With Compliments of Col Colt”, S/N 7289. This Colt shows blue and case colors and is contained within it’s original to the pe...moreriod case with accessories. In the early 1860s Colt presented a number of inscribed pistols to the most influential generals and politicians in Washington. Wm G. Moore was secretary to Simon Cameron who was the Union’s secretary of war. Moore was a spectator at the 1st Battle of Bull Run where he picked up a rifle and bravely joined the fight. He received a commission in the National Rifles and Volunteers. In 1867 he was made Lt. Col in the U.S. Army and he served as private secretary to President Andrew Johnson and superintendent of Washington D.C. Police. This pistol shows 75%-85% of its original blue and case colors naturally aging and toning. Minor areas of erosion and slight scratches. The markings are sharp and deluxe varnished grips are almost fine. The back strap shows an uncleaned and lovely dark patina with absolutely genuine inscription.

Colt Single Action Army Revolver fully and finely engraved and multicolor gold inlaid by master engraver John Warren signed on ejector rod housing. The barrel measures...more 7 ½” in .44-40 caliber with blue finish and sating gray frame, S/N 302127 and made in 1907. Gold inlaid No. 2 on top of the serial number at the edge of the frame indicating originally 1 of a pair. This pistol shows finely detailed scrolls with foliate borders in very profuse manner with flush inlaid multi-color raised and flush gold inlays. The left side on the recoil shield shows raised gold inlay of Indian head along with buffalo on loading gate and eagle head in silver on top of the back strap. The lefty frame shows acorns and oak leafs in Germanic style along with fancy scrolling and silver accents. The Colt is fitted with deluxe carved ivory grips showing the intricate carving this artisan was world recognized for. The Colt itself was a 1st generation pre-war with a 7 ½” barrel reading “Colt Frontier Six Shooter” in flush gold. 19KP-2 1860 ARMY COLT #9900

Colt 1860 Army Revolver .44 caliber percussion period script inscribed on backstrap “Sargent F.P. Boston Corbett”. Butt is block letter inscribed in another hand “Fat...moreally wounded, J. Wilkes Booth, 4-26-65”. The Army is S/N 9900 and a factory letter confirms shipment to Gov. Island, New York, New York Arsenal, Sept. 6, 1861. Service record confirm Corbett’s service in New York regiments as enlisted man and sergeant in Washington D.C. Boston Corbett served in “L” company 16th N.Y. Cavalry and is listed in Wikipedia among other sources as having shot John Wilkes Booth against orders. Different accounts of the shooting (and not shooting are recorded) also newspapers record he would not sell the pistol he used to shoot booth as “It belongs to the government and I would not sell it at any price”. Corbett was known for odd and erratic behavior and disappeared in 1894 being though to have died in the great Hinkley fire after being declared insane and being sent to an asylum where he had escaped. Autographed CDV of George A. Custer along with Carte of Elizabeth Bacon Custer (Libbie) his wife. The generals card is boldly inscribed in his hand “Truly Yours, G.A. ...more Custer” on Brady National Portrait Galleries marked card. The reverse shows inscription Sarah MacGuffey and Mrs. MacGuffey. The image is almost fine with slight aging. The accompanying image of Libbie is marked “W.H. Bowlsby Monroe, Mich.” And inscribed in script on the reverse “Elizabeth Bacon Custer”. Also hand writing on the back indicates that General Custer taught mother to ride horseback. The images descended in Custer’s neighbor’s family and writing on back attributed to Jessica Wood Cust. Sold Lot 720 (11-16-2005) for total of $23,000 in Cowan’s auction. Colt Single Action Army revolver, factory engraved and silver plated with period documentation as belonging to Arizona Ranger and gunfighter Jeff Kidder. Jeff Kidder...more the Arizona gunfighter of legend was born Nov. 15, 1873 in Clay County, South Dakota and died April 5, 1908 from wounds received in a gunfight. Kidder was hired in June 1903 by Capt. Thomas H. Rynning of the Arizona Rangers. In the same month Kidder and 30 other Rangers faced down 1200 rioting miners at the Morenci Mines. In Feb. of 1904, Kidder and Rynning, along with Sgt. Brooks engage Burt Alvord and "Billy" Stiles in a gunfight in Naco, Az where Alvord was wounded, ending his spree of train robberies. In April of 1904, the Alvord Gang headed by "Billy" Stiles robs Aquirre Merchantile Co. in Naco. On July 5, 1904 Kidder pistol whips three outlaws in "Tony Downs" turf saloon in Bisbee, Az. JXM-17 PHILADELPHIA DERRINGER

The finest and smallest known Philadelphia derringer signed in script on lock “H. Slotterbeck, Los Angeles”. Marked “Commenced 1854” on the left barrel flat, “Complete...mored” on the middle and “Feb 23, 2889” on the right. Gold plaque inscribed “H.G.S.” which is Slotterbeck’s initials. Measures 3 3/8” overall with a slightly less than ¾” of 1” barrel. Approximately .28 caliber 7 groove rifled. Beautifully hand made with burl wood stock with silver and German silver mountings. Fully operational and shootable as a pistol. Accompanied by ultra-small flask and old hand made display case with accessories. This iconic derringer is pictured on page 72 of “The Powder Flask Book” by Ray Riley. This iconic derringer is the smallest known to sophisticated collectors and the only known Los Angeles percussion derringer made for Slotterbeck’s own pleasure and use.
