U.S. Model 1842 Johnson single shot percussion pistol, .54 caliber, Serial #NSNV. The pistol is in good overall condition with an 8 ½” barrel. The barrel has gone to...more a dark brown patina with areas of pinprick pitting. The martially marked side plate is also a brown patina with, “US I.N. JOHNSON” and light pitting at the rear of the plate. The barrel band, back strap and butt cap are all brass with a pleasing taffy patina and the ramrod is retained. The smooth wood stocks are in good condition with mars and dents consistent with carry and use on this Gold Rush era martially marked Johnson. Est.: $500-$1,000. (Antique).

Consignor notes this revolver was part of a Colt collection that was on loan to and displayed for many years at the Snite Museum of Art at the University of Notre Dame; the collection was later put up for sale and consignor states he purchased the gun in Oct., 1991 at the annual Colt Collectors Gun Show. Colt Model 1911A-1 Semi-Auto pistol in .45 ACP, S/N 1673549. This pistol was issued to a Vietnam era non-commission officer who purchased a commercial replacement barr...moreel and bushing from A.O. Swenson while on leave in early 70’s. The non-comm. carried this pistol in the jungle of Vietnam and returned to U.S. after tour of duty. Recently the pistol was reconditioned and remarked by “Head Hunters” pistol smiths with the grips, sights and mag added. Mechanically excellent with 4-5 pound military style pull and Vietnam era holster. Some pitting under finish and a well-used war veteran that works well and would not be sold except no heirs.
