19RH-13 KENTUCKY FANCY

Incised carved Kentucky rifle with fancy pierced and engraved “Whales Tail” patch box signed in script on the barrel “L. H. St. Clair”. The cheek piece is inlaid with ...morea beautiful engraved brass eagle holding shield with the word “Liberty” in ribbon inlaid beneath. Simple scroll carving at the back and front of cheek piece with small inlays that are darkened brass (2 on each side of the wrist of which 1 is missing). Also 3 other small brass inlays in belly of the stock, brass plate beneath fore end and cap at top of comb. Large V notch rear sight with blade front. A graceful and aesthetically pleasing rifle. Measures 52” overall with a 38” barrel in .50 caliber rifled. The stock is good to very good with small replacement at the toe and re-glue of original piece. The rear screw in bottom plate is missing and showing bend where originally dropped causing the aforementioned loss. Otherwise the stock is very good with no other significant issues. The metal surfaces are a deep brown patina and show light moderate erosion and pitting around the drum and breech area from

19RH-19 1850 FULL STOCK

Ornate Full Stocked Percussion Kentucky Rifle with raised carved stock, fancy engraved and pierced patch box, and many silver inlays. Unsigned barrel with lock marked ...more“Warranted”. The rear of the butt shows scroll carving and the wrist is coarsely checkered. There is 3 sections of incised line carving between inlays in the fore end. 20+ engraved silver inlays with large pierces inlay below cheek piece with date 1850. Above the date and in the cheek piece is inlaid with eagle and shield. The side plate is brass of unusual shape securing the lock with 1 screw and 2 small screws securing the plate (Unique and may I.D. to maker). The wood is good to very good showing some honest carry and wear with old repair to point of comb using nail and screw (Well done). The metal surfaces are a dark uncleaned patina and good overall with minor erosion and pitting. The action works when trigger sets but slips if the trigger is not set. Measures 55” overall with a 44” barrel in .32 caliber rifled. V notch rear with blade front sight. A gold rush era Kentucky showing earlier style found in gold

Swivel Breech O/U Kentucky rifle with incised carving showing L.K. in script on the barrel and L. Kaup engraved in script on the side plate with date 1827. Levi Kaup w...moreorked in Union County Penn. From the late flintlock to percussion era. The rifle shows a fancy and large pierced patch box. 11 German silver inlays. The stock shows artificial striping and is in very good condition. The butt stock is carved in simple scrolls. An interesting spring steel cap protector has been added to the bottom barrel and is of the period and possibly by the maker. The metal surfaces are a deep and rich brown patina with light erosion and very minor pitting. The action needs small repairs or adjustment as it is not quite working properly. 19RH-30 PARKER D GRADE

Parker 12GA “GH” grade SxS shotgun with 28” barrels choked full and improved cylinder, S/N 117314 with original hanging tag serial numbered to match. This gun shows a ...morepistol gripped stock with skeleton metal butt plate and checkered wood butt. This Parker retains 90%-95% original blue on the barrel with some loss at the sides from case contact and minor scratches. The frame is nicely engraved with hunting dogs on each side and birds in flight on the bottom of the frame. Approximately 75%-85% colorful case hardening remains with slight losses on the bottom and sides of the frame. The stock is near fine with pleasing grain and show minor use. The bores are clean and bright and locks up tight. 14” pull. A strong 9 on a 1-10 scale and in a Northern California Collection more than 60 years ago. (C&R) Est.: $3500-$7000

19RH-71 NEW ENGLAND KENTUCKY

Lot # 1013 (Sale Order: 281 of 636)      

New England Style full stock Kentucky rifle with lock marked “Payson & Nurse”. Measures 58” overall with a 43” barrel of approximately .56 caliber rifle and slightly heavy weight measuring 7/8” across the muzzle. The butt is also 7/8” wide at widest point. The cheek piece is inlaid with silver plaque nicely floral engraved. Simple brass mounts with single trigger and 2 screws secure lock. The patch box has been dented and repaired and there is evidence of small area of wood replaced near butt plate about the size of a halved quarter. There is silver wire inlay around replaced inlay at the top of the wrist. The bottom stock is carved in block letters “El>L. 1764” and the barrel is stamped 1753. These we speculate are commemorative dates as the rifle is from 3rd quarter to late 18th century in our opinion 1790s. “H. Albright” signed flintlock full stock Kentucky rifle with simple engraved and non-pierced patch box. Aesthetically pleasing with “Roman Nose” or nicely formed and ...more “Dropped” stock. Measures 60” overall with a 45” barrel of .50 caliber smoothbore either bored out during use or worn out. The barrel is full octagon with rifle sights. The lock is an excellent restoration back to flintlock from percussion. The stock is fair to good with significant losses to the top edge at the left side of the stock and otherwise good to very good overall. The lock is working. The Albright family were several generations of Kentucky rifle makers. Would improve with minor restorations significantly. From an old Northern California collection. (Antique) Est.: $3000-$6000

19RH-79 PERC. AMERICAN 1/2 STOCK

American style percussion Schutzen rifle with false muzzle, set triggers, tang and target front sight, Swiss butt plate and target style stock with heavy octagon barre...morel. This rifle is unsigned but has an American look about it. Measures 49 ½” overall with a 30 ½” barrel of approximately .40 caliber rifled. Pewter fore end cap and escutcheons. Measures approximately 1 ¼” across the muzzle and weighs about 15lbs. The lock and triggers work very well. The rifle retains nearly al the original brown on the barrel and 50% plus case colors on the lock. The wood is very good with crisp checkering and shows only minor use and normal aging. Found in Northern California by an early collector. Interesting to note there was a “Schutzen” club in San Francisco in Mid-late 19th century. (Antique) Est.: $1250-$2500

Sharps Meachum Conversion with “Old Reliable” marked heavy barrel in .40 2 5/8 (.40-90 bottleneck), S/N C49264 on tang and on barrel along with double set triggers. Th...moree barrel measure 30” and measures 1” across the flats. The rifle weighs 12 ½ pounds total. This rifle and the next lot were purchased more than 60 years ago in Happy Camp, CA from a pioneer family whose ancestor used the two rifles on the way west and to hunt buffalo and bear. The Sharps shows a patina finish with blue and case colors mixed in the brown. Minor erosion and surface pitting. Good markings. A buckhorn sight has been added at the rear of the original base and leaf to original removed. The action needs minor repair. The bore is bright with some minor erosion at the throat of breech. The wood is good with some wear to checkering, dings, mars, and scratches. (Antique) Est.: $2000-$4000

19RH-112 HEAVY BBL 1/2 STOCK

Massive and heavy barreled percussion plains rifle stamped “A. Buselmeir” in very small letters on the left side of the breech. This maker arrived in Quincy, Illinois ...moreabout 1860 and relocated to San Francisco about 1865. This rifle shows a back action percussion lock with a heavy half round/half octagon barrel in .64 caliber rifled that measures nearly 1 ¼” across the muzzle and weighs 14 ¾ pounds. The barrel shows a gigantic buckhorn rear sight for large game. Iron trigger guard with brass patch box and butt plate. The rear sight has been moved backward towards the breech and the barrel shows plug. Period wood rod. The action needs minor repair and breech plug clean out screw is missing. Otherwise good to very good overall. This and Sharps listed prior lot were purchased in Happy Camp, CA from a pioneer family whose ancestor used the two rifles to hunt buffalo and bear. Measures 51” overall with a 33” barrel. (Antique) Est.: $1500-$3000

19RH-81 BROWN BESS MUSKET

Lot # 1024 (Sale Order: 290 of 636)      

Revolutionary War Era Officer’s style Fusil marked “G R” with crown at the center of the lock and “Tower” at rear. The stock is carved (Upside down) at left rear “T. L...moreincoln”. Our consignor obtained this Fusil in the bay area in late 1960s when T. Lincoln’s effects were donated to the University but the guns were refused and sold by his heir. By tradition Lincoln was a high ranking officer in the British military which we could not document. This arm shows a 37” barrel of .69 smoothbore and is 52” overall. The swivels have been removed and the hammer is missing as is the brass fore end cap. The markings are light but visible. The plaque at the top of the wrist is engraved “E” over “37”. The stock shows swell at rear ramrod thimble and lazy “S” style side plate (Revolutionary War era). As found and uncleaned “In the black”. Should be further researched. With bayonet and scabbard along with brass oval buckle and partial strap. (Antique) Est.: $2000-$4000

No markings o...moren the barrel and the lock stamped SCH___(Illegible) over MEMP____(Illegible possibly Memphis. Silver oval inlay above cheek piece with engraved eagle and 8 other engraved silver inlays above the ramrod channel and 1 at the top of the wrist. Fancy plate inlaid into the belly of the stock with 2 diamond and heart cut outs or piercings. The artificially striped stock shows most of its originally varnish with minor losses at the top edge and even wear from carry and use. The stock is very good overall. The lock and barrel show an uncleaned patina with scattered light to slightly weaving rust and erosion. The lock works well and the rifle has seen considerable firing and use but has been cared for,. Found in the gold rush country of Northern California. A very graceful and long rifle with a great patch box. (Antique) Est.: $1750-$3500

Shasta California in gold rush country by old Northern California collector, S/N 26990 in .36 caliber with all standard feature...mores remaining in good condition with gray patina and scattered light erosion and pitting. Good markings with 10%-20% cylinder scene remaining. Front sight period changed to blade and post. All matching visible numbers. The grips are very good with 75% plus original varnish with small losses at the toes and heels. The action is tight. Unfortunately our consignor’s father did not get the name of the family in Coloma 50 years ago when purchased from pioneer descendants but remembered they bought the Colt when emigrating on the pioneer trail from Ohio to California. Our consignor bought this derringer in San Francisco in the seventies from an elderly lady whose mother used it for her self-defense on the streets of San Francisco in 19th century. Lafayette was a trade center for trappers, Indians and settlers headed west. The stock is plain with good natural striping and has brass mounts with set triggers. Large V shaped rear sight with blade front. Good to very good as found condition with lock working well. Dark patina to metal.
