Oberndorf Mauser bolt action sporting rifle, 7 x 57 caliber, Serial #80922. The rifle is in very good overall condition with a 24”round barrel with a hooded blade fro...morent and military tangent style rear sights with light surface rust and erosion around the rear sight. The barrel retains the majority of its blue finish with a sling swivel added. The Oberndorf marked receiver retains a significant amount of original blue finish with all matching visible serial numbers and a lever release floor plate. The checkered Walnut stock has beautiful figure and finish with a beaded cheek piece and Prince of Wales grip, marked, “GERMANY” on the right side of the butt stock. The butt stock ends with a Mauser marked plastic butt plate marked, “N.A.P.” in silver ink by a prior owner. The rifle includes sling swivels and a period leather rifle sling. The bore is good, the action is crisp and the markings are sharp on this pre-war commercial Mauser sporter. Est.: $800-$1,600. (C+R).

Custom Model 98 Mauser bolt action sporting rifle, 7 x 57 caliber, Serial #983. The rifle is in very good overall condition with a 24” round barrel with a ramped blad...moree front and two-leaf folding rear sights. The barrel retains the majority of its blue finish with a sling swivel added. The barrel address reads, “FRITZ ALBRECHT, ALBRECHTS-SUHL.” The metal surfaces retain the majority of their blue finish with light surface rust on the magazine plate and trigger guard. The rifle has had custom claw mounts added during the period of use. The custom checkered wood stock has a Schnabel fore end, pancake cheek piece and Prince of Wales grip. The butt stock ends with a solid red rubber recoil pad providing a 14 ¾” LOP to the front trigger. The rifle includes sling swivels and a period leather rifle sling. The bore is good, the action is crisp and the markings are sharp on this custom Mauser with a desirable barrel address from Suhl, Germany. Est.: $500-$1,000. (C+R).

Finely relief carved Mexican powder horn with raised initials “S.A.”. The body of the horn shows a stand of arms and flags with crest at the center with Aztec style su...moren above. The crest is divided into 4 equal parts. The left shows scales of justice. The right shows flag on front resting on mountain top, bottom left shows horse with left hoof raised, and right shows bull. The horn is 15” across the curve and of generous proportions. Nice patina and dates early to Mid-19th century. Some breaks and small losses to the bottom and plug and some “Worm Holes” in the horn. From an old Northern California collector who purchased near San Antonio about 50 years ago. Note: The crest should be researched as General Lopez de Santa Ana was affectations and known to fancy crests, regalia and finery. Est.: $750-$1500

Interesting full stock transition Kentucky to Plains rifle with southern styling and silver inlay scratch engraved in block letters “MANNEN” by tradition a Texas pion...moreeers rifle collected by early Northern California collector. Measures 56” overall with a 41” barrel of approximately .38 caliber rifled (Note: barrel was originally 2”-6” longer and reduced long ago during use and nose cap repositioned. Pierced patch box with 5 pointed star. Six sheet silver inlays with two missing. Old frontier conversion to percussion. Characteristic steel half-moon escutcheon around single lock screw. Fair to good condition showing gray/brown patina on metal with minor rust and erosion. The stock shows honest wear, damage to nose near muzzle, and missing inlays along with other minor imperfections. Uncleaned and “As Found” in Northern California by old collector. A gun that traveled west and could have begun life in the south or Texas. (Antique) Est.: $900-$1800+++

19RH-75 FLINTLOCK

Lot # 1193 (Sale Order: 446 of 636)      

Full stock Kentucky Flintlock rifle of large proportions with lock marked “H. Elwell Warranted” and no signature on the barrel. Measures approximately 61” overall with...more a 45” heavy barrel of .44 caliber rifled measuring approximately 1” across the center of the muzzle and the gun weighs approximately 13 pounds. Double set triggers and fancy brass side plate secured by 2 screws. Large V notch rear sight with blade front sight. Completely original and untouched with dark patina on metal surfaces. The stock is artificially striped and in good condition with incised line along the ram rod area terminating in “squiggly” line. The lock works when the trigger is set but otherwise does not hold in the notch. The butt is somewhat thick and large and has a similarity to Tennessee and Kentucky made arms of 1820-30s. The metal has been cleaned lightly and engraving is worn. Most of the silver wire inlay to butt is missing and the stock refinished. Top jaw and screw replaced. Otherwise original flintlock.
