Georg Gohring Garmisch Martini Schuetzen 8.15x46R 30" Target Rifle
Lot # 26 (Sale Order: 26 of 391)
Our Assessment:The Schuetzen style target rifles were produced from the late 19th century through the early 20th century primarily in Imperial Germany. The gun’s name comes from the German word Schütze (lit. shooter) and were made for competitive target shooting which was popular at the time. The guns were produced mainly by small gunsmiths scattered throughout the German Empire who beautifully engraved their firearms. These guns were made for competitive shooting and have target sights, double set-triggers, interesting grip patterns on their wrists and unique cheek-pieces. The rifles were chambered for a variety of calibers, many of which are obsolete today making positive identification especially difficult. The production of these ornate rifles began to dissipate after WWI. This particular rifle was made by the Garmisch-based craftsman Georg Gohring. In the absence of a caliber designation, we believe that this rifle is chambered for 8.15x46R and we were able to chamber and extract brass, though you will want to confirm this before attempting to shoot. The receiver features intricate relief engraving with a mixture of floral motif scroll, fruits, and game scenes. The left side of the action is engraved with a stag and the right side displays a game bird. The bottom of the receiver features a game dog below another bird and rounding out the animal theme on the metal, there is a bust of a pronghorn displayed on the lever. Not content with displaying his immense skill on the metal alone, Mr. Gohring continued the engraving theme onto the wood stocks which have deep relief scroll and another game scene. The craftsmanship is insane and it is hard to imagine how long this rifle took to build. The nominal 30" octagonal barrel is proudly marked with Mr. Gohrning's name and hometown in silver inlay. The target sights and the light set trigger combine for what was the pinnacle of accuracy at the time it was built. The gun remains mechanically sound despite its age. Perhaps even more importantly, the rifle is beautiful with impressive scroll engravings and reliefs.

Remington No. 4-S Military Model .22 Single Shot Rolling Block Rifle
Lot # 28 (Sale Order: 28 of 391)
Our Assessment: Remington's Rolling Block large frame military arms were in service from 1867 to 1918, spanning the American Civil War and World War One. The robust single shot rifles are known for inherent accuracy and strength beyond the call of duty. The rifles were so successful that smaller framed variants were produced for sporting purposes. This a Military Model which is built on the No. 4 frame. It was originally called the Boy Scout but the company thought it belittled the gun so they changed the name to Military Model. This opened the door for sales to Military Academies who would use it for training and target shooting. This one has survived well, it has some wear but it is pretty typical of .22s like this. We don't see these very often and this will be a nice addition to your collection. Please see our photos and good luck!

Kenny Majors engraved Remington No. 4 Rolling Block Single Shot Rifle
Lot # 29 (Sale Order: 29 of 391)
Our Assessment: The Rolling Block was one of Remington's most successful designs seeing use in numerous militaries the world over. The large frame military arms were in service from 1867 to 1918, spanning the American Civil War and World War One. The robust single-shot rifles are known for inherent accuracy and strength beyond the call of duty. In fact, it was such a hit that production continued even when more modern options were available. It was chambered for numerous calibers and went through numerous design changes in its lifetime. The rifles were so successful that smaller framed variants were produced for sporting purposes. This a small No. 4 Rolling Block chambered in .22 Rimfire. These were offered in various calibers and this one has a 22 1/2" octagonal barrel. This one is not just any No. 4 Rolling Block though, it is one of two guns that Kenny Majors submitted to the Firearms engravers Guild of America in 2007. In January of 2007 Mr. Major submitted his guns to be judged by Master engravers in attendance to see if he could achieve the prestigious title. The rifle is engraved with game scenes that Mr. Majors thought depicted the use of this rifle when new. The left side is engraved with a squirrel in a tree and the right side is marked with a rabbit in a lettuce patch. The game scenes are surrounded by American scroll and the receiver has a deep border engraving. Not content with embellishing just the receiver, Mr. Majors got to work on the buttplate with a scene of a hungry fox on a hill above a farmhouse and barn. All the animals are gold inlaid, and there are also gold bands at the front and rear of the barrel. The receiver and buttplate are also adorned with oak leaf clusters with silver inlaid acorns. All the parts were hand polished before the rifle was engraved, and then again before the finish was applied. The rifle was mechanically restored to factory spec by J. Peter Mazur, an American Custom Gunsmith Guide member and restoration expert. Wyoming Armory did the beautiful case color and the bore was relined by another expert custom gunmaker, Mr. Lon Paul. The bluing and final assembly was completed by Jeff Tandy Gun Finishing. Mr. Majors has approximately 100 hours of labor in this rifle himself, and there is significantly more in all the work that was performed by the other craftsman. Both this rifle and Mr. Majors' other submission were judged to be executed at Master level. After seeing this it is no wonder why he earned the prestigious title. Now is your chance to own not only a Kenny Majors engraved piece, but one of the first two he ever did under the distinction Master engraver. This a beautiful rifle that makes one marvel at all the work that went into it. From Mr. Majors collection to yours, this a wonderful opportunity at a one-of-one bespoke rifle.

Documented Sharps Model 1874 Mid-Range No. 2 Rifle 1877 .45-70 Rifle
Lot # 30 (Sale Order: 30 of 391)
Our Assessment:Sharps rifles are a series of large-bore, single-shot, falling-block, breech-loading rifles, beginning with a design by Christian Sharps in 1848 and ceasing production in 1881. The rifle was available in a variety of calibers, and it was one of the few designs to be successfully adapted to metallic cartridge use. The Sharps rifles became icons of the American Old West with their appearances in many Western-genre films and books. This particular rifle is a Sharps Model 1874 Mid-range No. 2 Rifle in .45-110 caliber. This rifle comes with paperwork including a factory letter. According to that letter, this rifle was sold to Leslie Combs Bruce in 1877. Colt USA Bicentennial Set Dragoon SAA Python & Case, 1976 ATF C&R
Lot # 31 (Sale Order: 31 of 391)
Our Assessment:This may be the most important set for Colt collectors produced. The set encompasses the three quintessential firearms from three generations of Colt revolvers. The Dragoon was designed as a solution to numerous problems encountered with the Walker Colt. Although it was introduced after the Mexican-American War, it became popular among civilians during the 1850s and 1860s, and was also used during the American Civil War. It was the first of the heavy hitting revolvers that became practical for military use. The Colt Single Action Army represents not only a generation of Colt Production, but an era of American History. The Colt helped tame the West and the 7 1/2" .45 LC SAA is a gun that elicits feelings of the Old West upon sight. The Python was the next generation. This gun shows the finest of Colt's Modern Double Action Revolver design and manufacturing. The Colt Python is desirable. It was first introduced in 1955, the same year as Smith & Wesson's M29 .44 Magnum. The Colt Python targeted the premium revolver market segment. Some firearm collectors and writers such as Jeff Cooper, Ian V. Hogg, Chuck Hawks, Leroy Thompson, Renee Smeets and Martin Dougherty have described the Python as the finest production revolver ever made.

engraved Colt 1st Gen .44-40 Frontier Six Shooter Single Action Army Revolver
Lot # 32 (Sale Order: 32 of 391)
Our Assessment: Colt's Single Action Army is, perhaps more than any other, an iconic American pistol. It was the U.S. issue sidearm for the last two decades of the 19th century, used by pioneers, outlaws and lawmen across the expanding nation, and captivated audiences on the silver screen and television (and still does, today). Produced for nearly a century and a half, they are still being made, today! Apart from markings and chambering, the 'Frontier Six Shooter' is the same as any other Single Action Army, but they are specifically chambered for the .44-40 WCF cartridge, making an ideal companion revolver for a Winchester lever action rifle chambered for the same cartridge. This example is a 1st Generation Frontier Six Shooter made in 1912. It has been engraved and silver plated with handsome grips installed. The result is a visually striking revolver that will turn heads. Any 1st Generation SAA would make a great addition to a Colt collection, and this embellished early 20th Century example should be no exception. Please see our photos and good luck!

Finish Originality: Refinished at time of engraving.
Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright with sharp rifling. There is some minor erosion at the muzzle-end. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 8 out of 10.Many military and C&R-eligible weapons have bores that will show erosion. This not only due to age but to the fact that corrosive primers were commonly used in ammunition worldwide.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 95% of its current metal finish. The finish is generally strong with scattered discoloration that should polish out. There are some minor finish losses at sharper edges and some scattered minor marks. The action shows light operational wear. The screw heads range from sharp to lightly tool marked with strong slots. early 3rd Generation Nickel .357 Colt Single Action Army Revolver & Later Box
Lot # 33 (Sale Order: 33 of 391)
Our Assessment: In 1974, Colt quietly discontinued production the single Action Army; this would be the second time they discontinued production of this glorious revolver. Luckily, the loyal fans of the SAA would not need to wait long as colt would bring back the SAA in 1976 as the "3rd Generation". Changes were made but the basic SAA was the same, i.e. three standard barrel lengths of 4 3/4", 5 1/2" and 7 1/2", finishes of full nickel or blue, with color case hardened frame, and grips of hard rubber. Some changes were incorporated in an effort by Colt to keep prices down. One new change was a pressed-in cylinder pin bushing instead of the removable ones used in 1st and 2nd Generation cylinders. Toward the end of 2nd Generation production Colt had begun using some investment cast parts, but the frames continued to be forged. The introductory caliber for 3rd Generation SAAs was .45 Colt, but .357 Magnum came along by the end of 1976.everyone should have a Colt Single Action Army, and this would be a beauty to add to any collection. MANUFACTURED in the late 1970's, this revolver is in excellent condition, appearing to have seen little, if any use. With a 7 1/2" barrel and chambered for .357 Magnum, this a classic Single Action Army chambered for a more modern magnum cartridge. This makes it suitable for addition to a collection, but is also something that could be carried as a hunting sidearm or used in Cowboy Action Shooting competitions.
