Wilson Combat Classic 1911 .45 ACP Single Action Semi Automatic Pistol

Lot # 353 (Sale Order: 353 of 391)

Fine Plus Wilson Combat Classic 1911 .45 ACP Single Action Semi Automatic Pistol

Our Assessment: The 1911 and 1911-A1 pistols served the military of the United States from 1911 to 1985, through two World Wars and the Korean and Vietnam wars. They gained a reputation as a reliable handgun with plenty of stopping power, and are held in high regard by those who have used them. The design was the end-result of a series of developments by famous gun designer John Browning, starting with the Model 1900. The advances made by Browning were revolutionary at the time, and were so successful that they are considered commonplace today. Browning not only developed first a pivoting and then a tilting barrel to allow for a locked system, he developed the concept of "the slide", which is now synonymous with semi-automatic handguns.

As with any hobby, with the 1911 you can go as far as your pocketbook will take you. Just about every brand has a 1911 on offer and they range from entry-level to high-end, this example is one of the latter. This 1911 is aptly named the Classic, a 1911 set up just like this was the recipe for success when run-and-gun competitive shooting got its start, and hell industry legend Bill Wilson was there! With decades to perfect his craft and choosing to focus more on building guns rather than competing with them, Bill Wilson has become one of the premier pistol makers in the industry. Wilson Combat is among a small group of the best manufacturers of custom and semi-custom 1911s in the world including Nighthawk Custom, ed Brown, and Les Baer. This pistol is an excellent example of why they have earned this reputation. The fit and finish are next level and Wilson Combat has combined the most desired upgrades including front and back strap checkering, extended indexing beavertail grip safety, extended ambidextrous thumb safety, target sights, and skeletonized hammer and trigger with their legendary craftsmanship quality. Many of the hard edges are beveled, the top of the slide is serrated, and the rear of the slide is checkered because details matter. All of the features combine for a pistol that is not only damn good looking but should shoot damn well too! This pistol looks nearly brand new and is in Fine Plus condition. If you've been looking to get a premium-quality 1911, you can't do much better than this.

Ruger Model No.1 .223 Rem. Falling Block Heavy Barrel Rifle

Lot # 357 (Sale Order: 357 of 391)

Ruger Model No.1 .223 Rem. Falling Block Single Shot Heavy Barrel Rifle & Scope

Our Assessment: The Ruger No. 1 was introduced in 1967 and seems an odd design choice for a modern rifle. Repeating rifles of many different designs had become the norm by the late '60s and the single shot rifle pattern—certainly the falling-block single-shot—was on the outs with most hunters and target shooters. The brilliant success of the Ruger No. 1 comes from its embodiment of Ruger's design philosophy: simple, durable, reliable. The work designers and manufacturers such as Harry Sefried, Lenard Brownell, and Larry Larson crafted resulted in a timeless firearm that allows the common shooter a slower, more deliberate hunt with an elegant weapon. Craig Boddington, noted game hunter and Ruger No.1 enthusiast said of the rifle, "There's one… thing… about the single-shot rifle concept that, although purely psychological, actually has tremendous impact: You know that, in all likelihood, you're only going to get one shot. That makes you extra careful," This example hails from 1986 and is in Fine-plus condition. It is chambered for .223 Remington, an exceedingly popular—so much so that it has superseded most other .22 varmint chamberings in the US—and powerful cartridge suited for varmint hunting. Good luck and happy bidding!

Browning Miroku Model 1886 .45-70 Gov't Lever Action Rifle 1986

Lot # 360 (Sale Order: 360 of 391)

Very Nice Browning Miroku Model 1886 .45-70 Gov't Lever Action Rifle 1986

Our Assessment: This a Browning model 1886, a reproduction of the original Winchester which was, ironically, designed by John Browning. The 1886 followed up the 1876, providing a much stronger action which was able to withstand larger and more powerful cartridges such as the .45-70, the issue rifle cartridge of the U.S. Army at the time. The design would later be shrunk for the model 1892. This modern reproduction has the same action and was produced as a limited edition for the centennial of the 1886 in 1986 with only 7,000 Grade I rifles made and an additional 3,000 High Grade rifles. This one has certainly been shot but has also been well cared for, in Fine condition. With its 26? octagonal barrel and .45-70 chambering, this would make a nice hunting rifle that could take just about any game in North America, though it's a bit heavy for taking it on a long stalk and in such high condition, it will likely see interest from both Browning and Winchester collectors. If you're looking for a .45-70 lever gun, you can't do much better than this. Please see our photos and good luck!

309 of 500 Winchester Limited Series Model 1892 .38-40 WCF Rifle & Box

Lot # 365 (Sale Order: 365 of 391)

309 of 500 Winchester Limited Series Model 1892 .38-40 WCF 20" Lever Action Rifle & Box, 2003

Our Assessment: The Winchester Model 1892 rifle and carbine replaced the toggle link action of Winchester's Model 1873 with a breechblock locked with two rectangular locking bolts that made it much stronger and suitable for the higher pressures of smokeless powder. It was designed by John Browning and was sort of a scaled-down Model 1886 rifle, the first he designed for Winchester. The Model 1892 rifle was popular with ranchers and later was the rifle of choice for Western movies and TV shows, John Wayne used both M1892 rifles and carbines in many of his Western movies. The M1892 rifles again became popular in the 1980s with the advent of Cowboy Action shooting, as they were smooth and dependable. This a Model 1892 Limited Series 1 of 500, made in 2003 and chambered in .38-40 Winchester. This one has hardly any signs of use and is in excellent condition. Please see our photos and good luck with your bidding!

1951 Husqvarna Model 1920 .220 Swift 24" Bolt Action Rifle

Our Assessment:Husqvarna Vapenfabriks A.B. (Aktiebolag) was a Swedish arms manufacturer that had over a 300 year long history. The company was originally founded by order of the Swedish Crown as the Jönköping Rifle Factory in 1620. In 1689 an arsenal was established in the town of Huskvarna (spelled Husqvarna at the time) in Southern Sweden. The town was selected due to its strategic location adjacent to water walls which were used to power the hydroelectric machinery used in the manufacturing process of arms at the time. In the mid-18th century the Swedish Crown transferred ownership of the enterprise to a private citizen, Fredrik Ehrenpreuss, and the Ehrenpreuss family ran the arsenal until the early 19th century. The company would change ownership several times over ensuing decades, by the early 20th century the firm diversified into a number of fields including the production of motorcycles, sewing machines, typewriters and hunting weapons. The company would continue to make guns until 1967 when it discontinued all arms production. Other divisions of Husqvarna are still in operation today. This tough Swedish Mauser is a Commercial Husqvarna that was made back in 1951. The gun is chambered in .220 Swift and should make for a great varmint rifle. This Husqvarna is in Very Good condition. Nice 1965 Sako L579 Forester .243 Winchester 24 Bolt Action Rifle

Lot # 371 (Sale Order: 371 of 391)

Nice 1965 Sako L579 Forester .243 Winchester 24 Bolt Action Rifle

Our Assessment: SAKO is a Finnish brand that began operations in the early 1920s primarily for the Finnish defense forces. Production of civilian arms began in 1942 with the keenly named L42. Civilian production was expanded with the rifle on offer here, the L579 Forester, a compact bolt-action rifle. This L579 is in Fine condition, hardly showing its age with light wear. Add a scope and rings, and this will make a terrific shooter, with a versatile .243 Win chambering good for everything from varmints up deer.

Springfield Armory 1903 Sporting Rifle .308 Win. Bolt Action Rifle

Lot # 373 (Sale Order: 373 of 391)

Springfield Armory 1903 Sporting Rifle .308 Win. Bolt Action Rifle

Our Assessment: When the US Army was looking for a rifle design to replace the 1898 Krag rifle, they looked directly at the Spanish Model 1893 Mauser. This was due to the fact that the performance of the Model 1893 Mauser was far superior than that of the 1898 Krag during the Spanish-American War. The Model 1903 is basically a redesigned Mauser clone. A U.S. Patent Court eventually found that the U.S. Army had violated Mauser's patents and required the U.S. Army to pay the German Mauser manufacturers patent royalties. Payments were stopped once WWI started. The 1903 has a strong reliable action that served the Army for over thirty years in two world wars. The 1903A3 is an improved version of the 1903 rifle that was introduced in 1942. The most significant change was the switch to a receiver bridge-mounted rear aperture sight. This Springfield Armory Model 1903 was made in 1930, it has been rebuilt and refinished, it includes a sight protector. This bolt action rifle is in Very Nice condition, it looks impressive for a 90 year old military rifle. This 1903 has good Springfield markings on the receiver. This 1903 has a Fine bore, strong mechanics, nice Blued finish and a well preserved wood stock. This well maintained rifle will be perfect for target practice at the range. Please see our photos, good luck and happy bidding!

Year of Manufacture: 1930

Caliber: Rechambered to .308 Winchester

Action Type: Bolt Action Rifle, Fixed Internal Magazine

Stock Configuration & Condition: The hardwood stock has a semi pistol grip, nose cap with bayonet lug, stacking loop, barrel band, 2 sling loops and a metal buttplate with hinged door for storage. The wood shows a few scattered scrapes and scratches. The LOP measures 13" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stocks rate in about Fine overall condition, as refurbished.

Type of Finish: Blue

Finish Originality: Refinished

Bore Condition: The bore has an M.E. of 1. The bore is mostly bright. The muzzle and grooves are gray showing some light freckling. In this writer's opinion and for the age, the bore rates a 9 out of 10. Many military and C&R eligible weapons have bores that will show erosion. This not only due to age but to the fact that corrosive primers were commonly used in ammunition worldwide. For example, the U.S. used corrosive ammunition throughout WWII. The U.S. military did not begin to phase out corrosive-primed ammunition until the 1950's.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. The metal shows some scrapes and small scratches. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good Plus condition as refinished.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a more thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
