1968 Ford Mustang Eleanor GT Fastback Replica

Lot # 484

This car started its life as a V8 Ford Mustang Coupe and in a head nod to the Gone in 60 Seconds remake with Nick Cage and Angeline Jolie this car was reworked to represe...morent the Eleanor of legend. The engine was swapped with a 351Cleveland bored out to 50 encased with the 426 Cobra Super Jet engine dressings like the “GT500” of lore. The entire motor was machined, the block was honed, the cam was turned. The engine runs beautifully, mated to a 5 Speed manual transmission with a responsive clutch! Many modern conveniences were added to this restomod update. Electronic fuel ignition, working Air Conditioning, updated belts, alternator, radiator, and other mechanically sound improvements, working lights and safety features, signals, full tune-up, newer belts, newer tires, power steering, updated suspension parts, disc brakes, the gas tank was moved to the hip, per the movie, the exhausts ported through the side skirts, and giving proper backpressure. This Eleanor was never a garage queen and has always been meant to be thoroughly enjoyed and DRIVEN. She’s draped in a pepper gray exterior with black racing stripes and has a new wiring harness. Everything works and is ready to be maintained by new owner. The interior is mostly original with updated racing seats with seat belts. The stereo needs to be hooked up, panels screwed back in, and the headliner needs to be redone. Very minor inconveniences. The trunk needs to have the pipe either welded to be discrete or the new owner can use a fuel tube. The trunk needs to be finished and either carpeted or the vinyl plaid as the first generations came. Some clean up in the engine bay to pretty her up a bit is in order. Some paint and body work to be “Show Quality” to the more discriminatory out there. Currently rests in Somerset, Kentucky, home of the Somernites Cruise. There is also a neutral safety switch for added security. The car is “movie correct” with room for improvements such as the Go Baby Go button and some Nitrous! AGAIN THIS IS A RESTOMOD and not a $120K dollar Eleanor CLONE, but this is a car that you could literally drive across the country, any country, along the coast, through mountain passes, you name it LIKE YOU EXPECT TO DRIVE ELEANOR! It’ll start and stop reliably. Eleanor was meant to be DRIVEN and enjoyed and she’s waiting for the next owner who wants to take her to the next level. This car is a C code, I don’t believe in dirtying up the pedigree no matter how cool you can make something. If it’s rare it’s rare, and I chose the C code to keep it that way. Inspections welcome. No warranties implied. As is, where is. Delivery available via freight. Located in Kentucky. Loacted at: Kentucky , Special Terms: Additional May Auction Terms of Cyber Sale: All lots are sold “As Is “, “ Where is”. Please note where the lot is located that you are bidding on. 1971 Mercedes Benz 280 SE

Lot # 483

This 1971 Mercedes 280 SE was purchased from the former Owner in Tacoma WA. He had intended to restore it but a move to Arizona persuaded him to sell. I am a mechanical e...morengineer, a gear head and restoration hobbyist. I own several of these sedans and a coupe and love to bring the back to life the way they left the factory. The high grill and vertical quad headlights are a classic look that you do not see anymore. I fell in love with it. After getting the car home to my shop, the fuel tank was replaced, a new fuel pump installed, the fuel lines and injectors flushed. Before starting the engine, a compression check revealed 125 psig per cylinder. Impressive! The car started right up on non-ethanol fuel. Next the brakes and suspension was inspected. New front brakes, rotors, pads and a new master cylinder were installed. Rear brakes were fine and just needed to be bled. The rear spring set was replaced as an incorrect spring had been installed which gave the car too much rear positive camber. Front idler arms were replaced and the car aligned correctly. Next the electrical system was gone through, electric door switches replaced and motor mechanisms adjusted so all the electric windows functioned correctly. The original radio was sent back to New York to Becker Audio who rebuilt the radio and a new speaker was installed. Head light switches, wipers and turns signals were checked to be sure they were all functional. New horns were installed. New interior carpeting was installed and new MB Tex seats installed if the old seat was damaged. The wood trim along the dash to front window was sent to Madera Concepts in Santa Barbara for restoration. Finally, the car was re-painted to the original German Grau-Blau (Gray-Blue) and the exterior chrome polished with a kit from Mercedes to bring back its luster. I have not restored the clock which easy for a new owner to do. The goal of this restoration was to bring the car back to a good driver, a car the new owner could enjoy driving, with out getting too upside down on costs. It could be taken further if the new owner wishes or kept as it and enjoyed. ,Located in Blaine, WA , Washington,TermsAdditional May Auction Terms of Cyber Sale: All lots are sold “As Is “, “ Where is”. Simpson Design Swift

Lot # 493

The Swift project started about 4 years ago. I have been a big fan of the Michelotti designed Lotus XI that was ultimately built by Ghia Aigile of Switzerland, so much so...more I decided to scratch build a 1/24 scale model of the car for my model collection. In making the model I renewed my general fascination for the design, so much so I posted some pics of the model on Facebook in some of the car groups I belong to.A 3D programmer friend of mine, Dan Palatnik, who lives in Brazil, saw the model pics and sent me an email, offering to do a virtual model of the car for me, should I get serous about building one. On a lark I sent some pictures to my best overseas client, who, without hesitation, said, “Yes, I would like one - could you build it for me, please? A few emails back and forth confirmed that he was quite serious, and the project began.I made a second model and sent it to Dan, who immediately set about creating the preliminary drawings, which we then modified to give us a uniquely Simpson design. I then contracted with Dan to make a 3d station buck model. Enter another gotod friend of mine, Raffi Minassian, another profession automotive designer and also an Industrial arts professor in San Fransisco, who took Dan’s 3D renders and had them wood laser cut for us. This let us build a 1/5 scale model to make sure the buck would work.Raffi and I spent a fun day assembling the 1/5 scale model. Raffi, JR and I later assembled a full sized water jet cut plywood buck also created from Dan’s 3D program. Never having done a full sized body this way, it was an interesting learning curve. In the end, I decided that skinning the wooden buck in steel was the answer.Once I had that done, I contacted the guys over Sunbacker Fiberglass in Monroe WA. We’ve used them for years and they produced a set of working tooling for us to lay up a composite body and interior tub.In the meantime I scratch built a chassis in mild steel, designed to use the subframes and driveline from a second generation Mazda Miata, except shortened by 2 inches, giving us an 88“ wheel base. On completion, we took it over to Sunbacker on the trailer, fitted it to the first body Sunbacker had made - amazing, he two actually fit together - and we proceeded to bring the whole lot back to the shop for additional development.I kept looking at the windshield opening. In some way it was familiar. I called up my glass supplier and asked him if he could get me engineering drawings and specs on a 58-62 Corvette windscreen. He laughed and said, “I can more easily get you a windshield tomorrow.” So I ordered a glass, which arrived the next day as advertised, and much to my amazement was within a quarter inch of fitting, proving that every now and then an old dog gets lucky. We decided that the windshield would be attached in a trough below the cowl, and affixed with Butyl Rubber in the same as most modern windshields. We had a custom rubber extrusion made to trim out the top edge and an alloy channel made to go over the rubber extrusion to trim it all out. On with more parts development - before long I had created a dashboard and underwood side panels in steel to be reproduced in fiberglass. The guys over in Monroe were as always ready to help, and we also made a trough for the windscreen to sit down into the cowl, giving us a way to attach it to the carNext we needed to make doors, hood and trunk lid inner to be made along with molds for inner parts. A few weeks later all this and molds had been created. I decided to utilize as many parts from the Mazda Miata as possible so hood hinges and door hinges were modified to work with the car.Fuel tank and delivery became another challenge, so we had an alloy fuel tank made. I took the fuel sender and pump assembly from a Miata tank and modified them to work in the new aluminum tank. Not wanting to recreate some of the explosive disasters of car maker history, we moved the tank from just above the rear subframe into the trunk just behind the rear seat bulkhead. This would be fitted out with one of the Cobra style competition fuel fillers on the rear cowl just in front of the trunk lid.We stripped the wiring out of the Miata donor car and heavily modified it. Our client would want the electronic fuel injection and instrumentation as well as switch assemblies.I wanted to keep the wire wheels as a period nod to the Lotus street cars of the day even though we were not making a replica, and after purchasing numerous Dunlop wire wheel hubs, I was finally able to arrive at one we could lightly machine to work on the car, giving it that vintage British look. All assembled, the car looked great overall but there was something missing - it needed distinctive badging. Chuck Simpson develop badging for the car, which we had manufactured. The front and side emblems are very old school in that they are chromed steel with cloisonne (colored glass melted into the reliefs)The interior was trimmed out in leatherette and carpets, the tunnel

1941 Lincoln Continental V-12 Coupe

Lot # 498

Was owned by a retired Boing engineer that was with their design program and an avid car nut. He and his wife bought the car around the mid to late 90s from a family frie...morend whos parents had bought it in the 40s. They decided, along with another car nut and retired Boing guy who had lots of piston engine experience, to disassemble it and restore to new condition. Their friend had actually donated time to an Unlimited Hydroplane team in the fifties and sixties, re-engineering V-12 Rolls-Royce and Allison aircraft engines (similar but much larger to the Lincoln) to run in race conditions demanding running at more than twice their designed RPM. It was a twelve-year resto project done obviously with a lot of love, keeping very strict to adherence to factory specs save for the absolutely stunning white leather interior which I don't think was offered from the factory in the day. Plainly a brilliant restoration that has garnered a few awards in every show it's been entered. A very fine piece of equipment and history, done to a “T” Supportive doc included.
