1973 Ford Mustang Convertible

Lot # 239 (Sale Order: 51 of 105)

This is a non-numbers matching 351 V-8 Mustang with an automatic transmission. The previous owner purchased the car in 1996 and restored it off and on for five years. The engine and transmission have been rebuilt along with new brakes, top, hydraulics, wheels, interior, and duel exhaust. After restoration the car is basically brand new. It has 20195 original miles on it and only driven 430 mile since it was first purchased to car shows, exhibits and parades. There is a detailed book of pictures on the process. This is a very well maintained restored Mustang.

As offered, this 512 BBi benefits from almost 100,000 dollars invested over the past 30-plus years into various improvements, maintenance work, and replacements. 1926 Chrysler Roadster

Lot # 250 (Sale Order: 61 of 105)

In 1926, Walter P. Chrysler decided to improve the automobile production cars and to complete with Cadillac, Lincoln, Packard, Pierce Arrow, Cord and Duesenberg in the luxury car market of the time. Of several body styles made available in 1926, one was a Roadster 4-passenger (counting the rumble seat) convertible coupe. The engine, called a “Red-Head Six” was improved from the previous year and provided 10 more horsepower than the standard Chrysler engine offered in 1926.This Roadster was purchased by current owner in 1991 as a completely deteriorated car, requiring rebuilding essentially from the wooden body frame to the convertible top and from the front bumper to the rear. Thus, the frame-off restoration process was begun by the owner with many (51) different parts (including 150 separate pieces), having to be machined new as replacements for worn out parts no longer available. From 1991 until 2013 the owner invested over 3,400 hours and considerable financial resources to rebuild this beautiful, rare and historically accurate automobile which comes with a clear Washington title in the owner’s name. This Roadster is powered by the original Red-Head flathead-L straight six (rebuilt) and the power is transferred to the road via the original 3-speed transmission (rebuilt). The car has been driven only 12 miles since restoration but drives and rides as would a brand new 1926 Chrysler Roadster. The sheet metal has been restored and is painted an original Midnight Blue with black fenders. The rumble seat is completely functional. Period-accurate bolts with thicker than normal heads were manufactured new for use in the restoration. All bright work has been brought back to its original luster. The flooring and running boards have been replaced with meticulous care for accuracy. For the 1926 year, Chrysler offered an available up-grade split-rim steel wheel. While not original to this specific car, they are extremely rare but a set was found and restored. However, the original wooden spoke wheels will accompany the car as will a collection of spare parts. Door gaps are uniform and accurate Antique Gold pin striping on the body has been redone. The original leather seats had rotted away but the seat frames were in good shape. All new black leather now covers the seats and side panels. They show as new, no cracking or blemishes for either the interior or seat or the rumble seat. The convertible top is also new and since the car is always stored inside year-round, it hasn’t been exposed to any foul weather. Driver controls, the steering wheel with controls and the foot pedals all function as new, as do the dash gauges. The Roadster model included a “golf club” door. Accompanying the car is an early set of wooden clubs and golf bag and a set of original mechanical tools. The original Roadster had leather covering boots on the face of the master cylinder and two on the driveline. All three have been replaced with new leather boots. The underside of the car is immaculate. Several photos of the underside of the car and others accompany this write up. The car has been shown seven times at northwest regional events since completion in 2013. In two notable shows, “Lost in the 50’s” and Portland’s “Concourse D’Elegance”, the Roadster was awarded “First Place in Class”. In total it has received three “Best in Show” and four “First Place in Class” awards. As one judge stated, “the car has been restored as close to original perfection as I have ever seen.” The owner, Tony Dinatale, is a former R & D Technician at Lockheed and retired from the U.S. Bureau of Mines. Prior to this car, he had also restored a 1931 Chrysler CM Coupe which was found buried in the dirt up to it’s axle. After restoration it took “First” in the Chrysler Nationals in Victoria, BC , 1986. The car was sold to purchase the 1926 Chrysler.

1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Sport Coupe “Fuelie”

Lot # 259 (Sale Order: 69 of 105)

1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Sport Coupe “Fuelie” Unrestored fuel injection factory survivor. The present owner has owned this unrestored, factory-original survivor fuel-injected sport coupe Bel Air (one of 1530 passenger factory-built fuelies) since December 1999. It is in excellent original mostly unmolested condition. This is a 283 c.i., 250 H.P. turboglide numbers-matching car. It was assembled In Kansas City, Missouri in May 1957. It has been driven 62,000+ miles up to the present time. The engine has never been rebuilt (hence the original patina in the engine compartment) and runs great. It has a black exterior with a red/black interior. The paint is mostly factory-original and the interior is still in excellent, beautiful original condition. This is a rust-free automobile and as far as I know the car has never been hit. It is a very straight car and as we all know a black exterior is not very forgiving as it will highlight flaws such as imperfect body work, waves, wrinkles, etc.. It still has the original rubber trunk mat with the embossed encircled “57". The previous owner, because it had gravel chips in the rocker panel area (the 2nd owner’s house [in Nebraska] was next to a gravel road), had it repainted below the side trim. However, the majority of the paint is shiny original because the car has always been garaged. There are a few minor wear spots (mainly primer showing through the original paint) in several places as a result of constant waxing. Also, there are some gravel chips on the front part of the hood and there are minor scratches here and there. Overall, the exterior paint is in beautiful original condition. Under the hood there are several factory assembly line yellow chalk Xs (see pic) on the hood latch cover. I have been told by several Chevrolet experts that these Xs were most likely an alert to the assembly line workers that a fuel injection system was to be installed in this car. The rear spiral shock absorbers seem to be original to the car. The engine suffix pad has the stamping F418GF and this translates to Flint, April 18, turboglide fuel injection. All of the fuel injection components are original to the car. As far as the owner knows the Rochester 4520 fuel injection unit has never been rebuilt. It has always run well with minor tuning done every now and then. The 2nd owner, who bought it in late Fall 1957 (the first owner was a young man and for whatever reason his father made him return it to the dealership), said that he was informed that this car was a factory demonstrator to promote the sales of fuel injection passenger cars and because of this they made sure that it had the best components installed to keep it running flawlessly. After the factory reps were done the car was sent to a dealership near Omaha, Nebraska where it was sold. The 2nd owner was asked if he had the original dealer paperwork for the car but it ended up getting lost or misplaced. He did a notarized “Verification of Authenticity” for the present owner regarding his history with the car. He had also written a note to the previous owner detailing pretty much the same info. These documents go with the car. This car still has all of the ORIGINAL peripheral FI components:- Vacuum wiper motor with the Electro-vac switch.- Metal clip (on the firewall) to hold the electric choke “pig tail” fuel injection-only wiring harness/connector for the air meter.- Air intake hose bracket that is attached to the driver-side radiator support. Most of these original brackets ended up missing or tossed aside in about 99.9% of the original passenger car fuelies so this is an extremely rare, very hard-to-find item and very, very expensive if ever available. This item is definitely NOT a repro.- Electro-vac (with the original Trico string tag) affixed by clutch head screws to the radiator support.- Passenger-side exhaust manifold with no choke tube hole drilled- fuelies only- Original metal band to attach the air intake hose to the air cleaner.- 3/8-inch fuel line.- Original air cleaner with repro 4-inch flex air hose.- Original fuel filter- Original 906 distributor.- It has a later model fuel pump but a correct long-screw fuel pump goes with the car. Also, the 2nd owner took out the turboglide many years ago and replaced it with an overdrive 3-speed manual trans. (the overdrive cable is disconnected and I don’t know if it ever was connected). However, he did keep the turboglide and somehow it managed to go with the car from owner to owner. I just recently had the turboglide rebuilt with NOS parts. There are hardly any trans. guys that know anything about rebuilding these turboglides but I managed to find a fellow (he passed away shortly after he finished the rebuild) that was rebuilding them down in Oregon. A fellow that lives in Vancouver, BC, Canada and who owns a restored factory-built ’57 BA sport coupe fuelie is doing a ’57 Chevy fuel injection factory-built survivor passenger cars directory. 1957 Chevrolet 210 Sport Sedan "Fuelie"

Lot # 260 (Sale Order: 70 of 105)

1957 CHEVROLET 210 SPORT SEDAN 1-of-10 FUEL INJECTION FACTORY SURVIVORThe present owner has owned this frame-on restored, factory-original survivor fuel injected 210 sport sedan (four-door hardtop) since July 2006. Of the 1530 Chevrolet passenger fuel-injected built by the factory in 1957 only 10 were 210 four-door hardtop models. It is in excellent driver condition - a frame-on restoration was recently completed. This is a 283 c.i., 250 H.P. car with a powerglide. It was assembled in Janesville, Wisconsin on April 1957. The car was ordered new at the Chevrolet dealership in Cold Spring, MN. The present owner has spoken by phone several times with the original owner and was told that the car was special-ordered at his family’s dealership. He indicated that he eventually got rid of the “troublesome” fuel injection system and replaced it with a 2-barrel carburetor. He also said that the car originally came with a turboglide transmission and that also proved to be unreliable so he replaced it with the powerglide (bought from the dealership) that it presently has. The present owner was going to replace the powerglide with a turboglide but most of these turboglides (1957-61) have been scrapped and are hard to find. The few that were found were mostly incomplete or junk so the exchange was never made. There have been 5 owners of this car. The present owner has communicated with all of the previous owners up to the present time. All of the previous owners have been residents of Cold Spring, MN and have known each other practically their whole lives. The titled owners were/are the first, fourth and fifth (present owner). The second and third owners never registered the car in their names. The odometer shows slightly over 100,000 miles on it. The original engine was apparently long gone before the present owner got the car (the replacement 283 block was a 1958). Because of the passage of time trying to find out as to what happened to the original engine proved to be a mystery so that’s where it stands. The present owner installed a 1957 Chev. 283 block with the correct “997” heads (these are extremely hard to find and very expensive) and the correct deep groove pulleys. It has a new repaint (single-stage) black exterior with a correct new C.A.R.S. reproduction beige/gray interior. During the resto there was some minor rocker rust repair but otherwise the car is basically rust free (unusual for a Minnesota car of that vintage). It is a very straight car and as we all know a black exterior is not very forgiving as it will highlight flaws such as imperfect body work, waves, wrinkles, etc. The engine suffix pad has the stamping F317FJ and this translates to Flint, March 17, powerglide fuel injection. The original owner (who by the way is almost 90 years old and still very lucid) was asked by the present owner, right after getting the car, if he had the original dealer paperwork for the car but it ended up getting lost or misplaced. However, he did send 8 registration slips and an “American Family Insurance” premium notice for 1970-71. He did a notarized “Verification of Authenticity” for the present owner regarding his history with the car. In this document he also lists the names of the 2 unregistered owners. These documents go with the car. This car has the complete peripheral FI components: - Rebuilt vacuum wiper motor with the Electro-vac switch (repro). - Repro metal clip (on the firewall) to hold the electric choke “pig tail” fuel injection only wiring harness/connector for the air meter (NOTE: this is a repro wiring harness/connector - the original was taken out [frayed wires] and is included with the purchase of the car). - Air intake hose bracket (repro) that is attached to the driver-side radiator support - Rebuilt Electro-vac (with Trico string tag) affixed by correct clutch head screws to the radiator support.- Original w/car passenger-side exhaust manifold with no choke tube hole drilled - fuelies only. - Repro metal band to attach the air intake hose to the air cleaner.- 3/8-inch fuel line (original to the car). - Original air cleaner with repro 4-inch flex air hose. - Original rebuilt fuel filter. - Original rebuilt 906 distributor.- Rebuilt long-screw fuel pump. - Repro (Trim Parts) fender FI flag emblems with correct diameter (1/8”) mounting studs just like the originals. The FI scripts that are mounted right below the flags are NOS. NOTE: factory fuelie flag & script fender mounting hole diameters are slightly larger than 1/8” (the factory did not drill but rather punched these holes). The car’s original flag emblem colors are all faded or rubbed off - these and the original scripts have been saved and go with the car. 1965 Volvo P1800

Lot # 265 (Sale Order: 74 of 105)

In 1991 Lance found a 1965 Volvo P1800 for sale in Port Orchard, WA. And his life long love affair with this car went until early 2017. We called the Volvo Al, on the license plate was 483ALS. It’s still his name. In December 0f 1991. Al got his engine rebuilt; the invoices are in his file. Al also got painted by Cain Custom, Mark was an artist in car painting, restoration and total builds. Mark’s mother Mary Cain was an equally talented in upholstery; she did all the upholstery in Al. The Cain’s were part of our family, and having them in Al, was very special. In 1996 Lance and Al entered The Ravenna Volvo Meet, Al won the Modified Class. Lance was so proud! In August 1999, Al did laps at Portland Raceways and was Best of Show Modified at IPD’s Portland show. 2003 Olympia WA. Al won 1st place in Modified 1800. 2004 Black Hills Beer and Wine Distributors and Volvo club of America, Al was #1 in Modified 1800 Coupe. 2005 Regional Meet, Al 1st place Concours Winner and People’s choice Concours Winner. Lance took up another love , Outrigger Paddling. Al still got to go for many drive’s as long as it wasn’t raining. In Al’s trunk is a pretty great stereo system, Pink Floyd, The Dead, Moody Blues could be heard way before Al’s pipes.
