Single trigger with patent breech. Rifle is "K" series indicating was assembled from kit. CONDITION Good with shootable bore with slight roughness that should clean up to excellent. Stocks are well finished and are good overall. The brass furniture is fine with no distress. The action operates properly. The trigger has been modified from a double set to a single trigger. BLACK POWDER.

Walnut stock with brass furniture. Patent breech for easy disassembly and cleaning. Double set triggers. CONDITION Good as used. Barrel has 40% blue finish remaining, Bore is very lightly frosted but should clean up to very good. The stocks are very good and without distress. Brass furniture is good and action operates properly. Rear sight is missing as is clean out screw on drum. BLACK POWDER

CONDITION fair with all metal surfaces being covered in light brown corrosion from exposure. Bore is excellent and action operates properly. The stock has strong cartouche and has two obvious bullet strikes from the left side with lead still being internally in the stock. A unique example and we would love to know its history. ANTIQUE

CONDITION, Good overall with excellent bright shiny bore and good properly operating mechanics. Generous amounts of blue finish with good case colors on breech. Stock is equally fine with strong cartouche and a hairline crack on left side forward of breech. Leather sling is very good and leather is supple. ANTIQUE

SERIAL NUMBER 280140 BARREL 32-5/8" CALIBER 45-70 GO'T MANUFACTURED 1885. Comprised of an actual experimental 1884 experimental barreled receiver with rare experimental rod bayonet housing and latch. High arch case colored breech dated 1873. 1884 Buffington sight with "R" designation on staff. Smooth 1873 trigger in 2 piece trigger guard assembly. One piece walnut stock with shadow of early EAA cartouche. Solid butt plate without trap for tools. Very unusual lock plate with only "1884" stamped in center. Two barrel retaining bands with sling swivel and stacking swivel. CONDITION, Fair as found with very good bore. Barrel finish is covered with black paint, Stock is slightly undersized from prior cleaning, Rod bayonet is broken with rear half missing. Sear is chipped and hammer fails to stay in cocked or safety position. Front sight hood is not present. Serial number is very difficult to read as receiver has been refinished at a prior period. SERIAL NUMBER ? BARREL 32-5/8" CALIBER 45-70 GOV'T MAUFACTURED ?. Rifle is in near excavated condition with an even pitted surface on all metal components. Markings are not discernible. Stock is extremely dry and lightly weathered. The general appearance leads one to believe the gun was exposed to the elements for a very long time but was in dryer climate given the condition of the bleached wood. Really a neat example. Two piece walnut stocks with Brass furniture and forearm mounted iron spring takedown latch retainer. Percussion with Lawrence pellet primer mechanism. Marked on chamber "SHARPS RIFLE MANUF, CO. HARTFORD CONN." Tang marked "SHARPS PAT'D 1848" 6918. CONDITON NRA good with properly working action and good bore with darkness in grooves. Barrel bad screw is missing. Barrel, receiver and lever are a mellow brown patina and brass furniture is a pleasant un-cleaned mustard patina. The two piece socks are full sized, weathered with minor chipping at tang, rear of lock and butt plate at heel. Forearm is slightly chipped at rear , bottom and a small shrinkage crack at tip. A very uncommon Sharps carbine and rarely encountered in any condition. ANTIQUE
