NEPALESE SHARPS SLANT BREECH .54 RIFLE

Lot # 298 (Sale Order: 301 of 823)      

SERIAL NUMBER -NA- BARREL 40-1/2" CALIBER .54 SHARPS COMBUSTIBLE. 19th century Nepalese copy of a Sharps rifle. It is a copy of the Model 1852 slant breech receiver. These Sharps firearms were obtained by IMA from the cache of arms obtained from the Nepalese Royal Armory. Barrel is about 40 1/2", and is about .54 caliber. Rifled bore is rough. Rear sight is an odd Nepalese "long range" sight. Action works. Stocks are very good with handling marks. Butt stock has sharp edges and never had a patch box. All iron hardware except for brass butt plate and nose cap. An unusual Sharps copy. 57" overall, Antique, Very Good overall with little finish remaining, Properly operating action. Wood is worn with minor chipping of butt. Forearm has a gouge with crack on let side from transit to the US. ANTIQUE

Barrel with three-groove rifling. Produced with Stabler cutoff device. Walnut stock and forearm, with saddle ring. A shadow of inspector's cartouche to the rear of the saddle bar. CONDITION NRA Good The bore is in good condition, but could use a cleaning. The barrel has a dark plum patina. The frame has a mottled plum and silver patina. Iron frame with leather covered round barrel, walnut stock with brass butt plate and rear mounted sling swivel. Sliding breech mechanism with blade front sight and click adjustable rear sight. CONDITION. NRA Good with operating action. Dark bore. Stock is fair condition with repaired break at right side of wrist. Leather cover on barrel is 2/3 rds missing and balance is deteriorated. Wood stocks are full sized with some material losses at toe and upper edge of forearm. Action fails to hold in cocked position and needs repair. Wiping / cleaning rod is bent at end. Missing butt strap screw. Action operates but fails to hold on 1/2 cock. Housed in a weathered tooled holster that remains supple with good stitching. Has a really good authentic western look. Marked on the top of the barrel with the Whitney 2 line address and serial numbered on the bottom of the barrel and on the loading lever. Two piece smooth walnut grips and 6 shot cylinder. CONDITION. NRA Good with the exterior having turned a dove grey. The bore is good with slight roughness in the grooves. The grips are very fine and fit excellently. The action operates properly ANTIQUE

SERIAL NUMBER 2101 BARREL 7-1/2" CALIBER .36 PERCUSSION BLACKPOWDE. Produced in Italy with brass frame and factory engraved. Sold by FIE in Florida, Blue finished octagon barrel , single action six shot cylinder. One piece walnut grips. CONDITION. Good as found and probably unfired. Action operates properly. Loading lever is missing retaining screw. Grips are excellent with slight finish crazing on butt. BLACK POWDER

Early best quality copy of Colt Model 1861 Navy with round barrel and ratcheting loading lever Non-rebated cylinder with Ormsby cylinder scene, one piece walnut grips with brass backstrap and trigger guard on a 4 screw frame cut to accept shoulder stock. CONDITION, Very fine and probably never fired, The revolver shows handling and storage marks but bore is as new and the chambers still retain all of their blue finish internally The action is extremely smooth and would be a marvelous shooter. SERIAL NUMBER 01549 BARREL 8" CALIBER .44 PERCUSSION MANUFACTURE SANTA BARBARA SPAIN. Fine quality factory engraved copy of the Remington Model 1858 Army revolver. Cal .44 Percussion with wide scroll with chisels borders on frame. Cylinder is engraved with wide scrolls and a do punch back ground with chiseled border at front. Barrel is feather engraved on side flats and diminutive scrolls on top flat. Back strap has intertwined geometric designs full length of strap. CONDITION. Unfired and near new with a few minor handling marks. The cylinder paw spring fail to rotate the cylinder consistently and needs a replacement prior to actual use. Very attractive with well executed engraving. BLACK POWDER
