SERIAL OS3888. BARREL 33.5". CALIBER 6.5x52mm. The Vetterli rifles were a series of Swiss army service rifles in use from 1869 to 1889. This rifle is dated 1889 making it the last model. This model used the four round box magazine. This update was performed by the Italian military. Features 2-bands, socket bayonet lug, metal ramrod, one piece walnut stock and distinctive military rear long range sight. Stock is unit stamped and shows many storage and use dings. SERIAL 20455. BARREL 6.5". CALIBER .45 ACP. This project started with a pre-war N-frame, 5-screw. A Model 1955 barrel has been fitted. Smooth target grips have also been added. Frame has Canadian proofs and had a lanyard ring. Looks like an old 1917 frame was used for project,. Retains 90% blue finish. Fine bore and action. Barrel shows minor muzzle wear. Older frame shows about 90 blue finish. Has adjustable Smith rear sight. Unit marked on back. Excellent as built. C&R

COLT DETROIT POLICE POCKET POSITIVE REVOLVER

SERIAL 54901. BARREL 3.5". CALIBER .32 POLICE. MADE IN 1911. These were popular revolvers with police departments at the turn of the last century for over coat pockets as they did not wear holsters and most were local beat cops that knew everyone in the neighborhood during a time when police were revered by both young and old. This gun is engraved DPD 1122 on left side of frame. It features a factory nickel finish, fire blue hammer and trigger. Colt gutta percha grips with small chips at toe. Gun has seen use and retains about 50% original nickel with balance turned a dark patina. Fine action and bore. C&R

FREIBERGER SCHUETZEN TARGET RIFLE

A Schuetzen is a type of rifle used in European long-range competition. Its German root is from the word Schütze which can be translated as “shooter.” The earliest usage was to denote units of marksmen or sharpshooters back in the days of muzzle loading firearms. The top of barrel is matted and stamped with maker and city (AUGSBURG). It sports a 29.5" full octagon barrel that has attached loader for under barrel loading of pellet. It is standard in all respects featuring a round barrel, single barrel band, saddle ring & bar, Lawrence ladder rear sight, with walnut stock. Barrel is stamped New Model 1863. Right side of action & frame are stamped with Sharps patents. While this example has no original finish and is now a clean patina, it has definitely seen use but was cared for. Stock is excellent with war dings but no pieces missing, no cracks and is proud to metal. Bore is sharp & clean and the action is crisp as new and features the tape feeder. A

US MODEL 1816 CONVERTED CONTRACT MUSKET

Produced by M.T. Wickham of Philadelphia circa 1822-1837 (this one is dated 1834) with about 16,000 total mfg. It was later converted to percussion. .Aside from the Wickham stamp and date on action, features are basically the same as the Model 1816 Springfield with a 42" round barrel, .69 smooth bore, three barrel bands, metal ramrod, one piece full length walnut stock, single rear sling swivel, iron mountings. All metal parts were finished bright except lock was case color. This rifle has survived in excellent condition overall although the main spring is weak and rear sight is missing. Stocks are excellent. A

RARE BRITISH TOWER MARKED INDIAN TRADE MUSKET

This is one of the best Indian Trade Muskets one could hope to find. It is an early Tower marked flintlock rifle with a 52" smooth bore barrel in .80 bore. The wrist and the entire length of barrel is secured in leather and decorative tacks that have been there so long, it is almost part of the metal and wood. All brass furniture is toned. The lock is well marked. The stock is in excellent condition as is the entire rifle. Rifle has a period iron ramrod as well. One of the most handsome English trade rifles you will come across. A

1861 US SPRINGFIELD TYPE RIFLE

While this rifle closely resembles an 1861 rifle with exception to the rear sight, all the legends are stamped in Persian or Farsi. These stamps are on tang, rear sight, lock. Rifle is of higher quality than you might imagine or have seen on rifles made in this area. There is no original finish remaining and rifle is now a dark patina. The full length stock is very good. A great research project for someone as there has to be a history. A

GEWEHR 98 MAUSER MILITARY RIFLE (1907)

Lot # 98 (Sale Order: 97 of 823)      

SERIAL 7819. BARREL 29.5". CALIBER 8MM. MADE IN 1907. This was the standard German military service rifle from 1898 until 1935 making it the rifle that saw service in the Great War from 1914-1919. One of the most distinctive features on these rifles are the so called "Roller Coaster" type rear sight. The chamber is stamped with maker, factory and date. The frame & barrel have matching numbers as does floor plate and bands. Bolt has another number and the butt plate is missing. Also missing is the rear stock swivel. Stocks show numerous dings. Metal is smooth patina. Bore is plugged with lead and will need to be drilled out to see what is left. C&R

The frame & barrel have matching numbers as does floor plate and bands. Bolt has another number and the butt plate is missing. Also missing is the rear stock swivel. Stocks show numerous dings. Metal is smooth patina. Bore is plugged with lead and will need to be drilled out to see what is left. C&R

CONVERTED MODEL 1816 US FLINTLOCK MUSKET

SERIAL NSN. BARREL 42". BORE .69. This example was made at the Springfield Armory in 1832 and is so stamped on the lock. The pan has been filled and rifle converted to the percussion ignition system. The vast majority of these conversions were still being used in the Civil War and many of those stored in Southern facilities were readily adopted by the Confederacy. Features three bands, sling swivels, period ramrod and one piece walnut stock. The barrel had no rear sight nor was it rifled. Metal is now a smooth patina. Stock is in excellent condition with usual bruises but handsome. Really clean example. A
