Pistol is inspected with Eagle S/2 inspection above magazine release and is fitted with correct Diamond pattern checkered walnut stocks. Long wide checkered hammer with short grip safety and long smooth trigger. Checkered safety and slide release and smooth flat magazine release with lanyard loop. Barrel is " P H " proofed on chamber top and slide retains all appropriate Colt legends. Pistol retains its pinned base two tone magazine with out markings on base. CONDITION. EXCEPTIONAL REMINGTON UMC MODEL 1911 PISTOL

SERIAL NUMBER 5433 BARREL 5" CALIBER .45 ACP MANUFACTURED 1918. Manufactured in Bridgeport CT, by Remington utilizing their manufacturing facility originally built for the production of Russian 1891 Mosin rifles. Difficulty in obtaining quality blue prints and gauges led Remington to use 10 Colt Model 1911 pistols as gauges and for measurements. A total of 21,676 example were produced by Remington prior to the cancellation of the contract and the pistol produced were later disposed of due to the issue of lack of interchangeability of parts with Colt and Springfield produced pistols. Finished in a burnished blue with Remington UMC mono gram in center of slide with patent dates and Remington address on left side of slide. Left side of frame is marked with United States Property markings and E.E.C. for the inspector Edmund E Chapman. and Eagle E28 inspection above magazine release. Trigger guard is also inspected "E".Right side of frame is marked "NO5433" and marking remains in the white as was struck after pistol being finished. Barrel is "P" proofed on top of chamber and slide is inspected "E" above firing pin stop. Smooth flat mainspring housing is also inspected with "E" at base. Long trigger with short grip safety and checkered safety and slide release. Magazine is appropriate pinned two tone variation without markings. The Remington UMC with its small production and later disposal from Gov't stores lends itself to being one of the least common and most desired example of the venerable 1911 pistol. CONDITION, Exceptionally fine with over 90% blue finish remaining with thinning and losses at edges and grip straps. The diamond pattern checkered walnut grips are very good, full sized and have consistent wear and minor bruises and scratches. The bore is very fine with slight darkness in corners of grooves. The action operates properly and crisply. By far one of the finest and most honest examples to be offered in recent history. C&R

Beginning in 1915 and continuing into 1917 Model 1911 .45 Gov't pistols were made available to National Rifle Assn members through out the United States Gov't. The majority of these were of Springfield manufacture with estimates of 50-200 examples being manufactured by Colt. These rare examples are of Government contract example and are standard brushed blue finish with serial numbers ranging from 122279 through 164124 intermittently. Marked "N.R.A." beneath the serial number and being US Gov't inspect G.H.S. (Gilbert H. Stewart" on left side with traditional Colt markings on slide and United States Property on left of frame. Diamond pattern checkered walnut stocks with Long checkered hammer and short grip safety, Long smooth trigger and checkered safety and slide stop. Magazine is period pinned base two tone pattern. Barrel is P over H inspected on top of chamber. CONDITION, Exceptionally fine with over 90% blue finish remaining with thinning and losses at edges and browning on grip straps. First year production commercial Ace features factory blue finish and all correct pre war parts to include short chec...morekered trigger, checkered wide spur hammer, checkered arched main spring hammer, slide stop & safety. Pre war checkered walnut grips are more contemporary. Rear sight is a Micro fitted into the original slot with base pin missing. Pinned front sight is higher replacement (both of these sights could be replaced with correct style) Two tone tempered magazine is correct and properly stamped. Condition. Gun exhibits high edge wear and some thinning at muzzle. Front strap has few handling marks but retains 95% blue. Balance of gun retains about 90% original blue. Nice enough to be collectable but you could still take this one to the range without hurting value. C&R

SERIAL C5205. BARREL 5". CALIBER .45 ACP. SHIPPED NOV. 4, 1913 TO KRAKAUER, ZORK & MOYE EL PASO TEXAS. Letter states shipped blue. The conversion kit features serial U23...more03 which was made in 1946. Both have been master engraved by the same person in typical American scroll and punch dot pattern of the war era in the Gough style. Engraving is flawless and nearly full coverage on gun & conversion. Blue finish is a high finish royal blue. Grips are pearl with silver medallions. Each gun comes with one magazine. The 1913 commercial has all correct small parts to include a type 1 rear sight, long smooth trigger, flat main spring housing with lanyard loop, checkered spur hammer, slide stop and safety. The conversion has proper front & rear sights. Set is housed in hard case and there is a factory letter included on the commercial Colt. All legends are correct for a 1913 gun with the 1911 last patent date and the pony is at rear of slide. Condition. Near new as finished with just minor handling and retaining 99% plus royal blue finish. Legends sharp. Engraving is crisp and clean. Bores are near mint. A very impressive Texas set. C&R
