C.S. SHATTUCK .32 RF UNIQUE SQUEEZER PALM PISTOL

SERIAL NUMBER 179 BARREL 1/5/8" CALIBER .32 RIM FIRE MANUFACTURED 1901-1915. Invented by firearms engineer Oscar Mossberg of later O,F, Mossberg firearms fame for the C.S.Shattuck Arms company of Hatfield Mass. Manufactured in the more common .22 RF and the quite uncommon .32 Rimfire cartridge. Having a 1-5/8" 4 shot barrel cluster and a rotating firing pin, the pistol was fired by squeezing the plunger type firing mechanism. Pistol has a patented extractor system this is a simple removable / detachable strip of hardened steel 2" long by 3/16" wide. This extractor is stored in an internal slot on the right side of the breech face. Marked "UNIQUE" over 'C.S.SHATUCK ARMS CO, HATFIELD MASS" on left side. Shattuck is factory misspelled as Shatuck, this was an error from the die maker at the time of manufacture. nickel finish with blue finished barrel latch and serial numbered on barrel cluster and breech face. CONDITION. Very fine with over 90% nickel finish remaining on barrels and 95% nickel remaining on action. Action operates properly and all markings are crisp and legible. Bores are dark from period corrosive ammunition. The large .32 rim fire variation of the Shattuck "UNIQUE" pistol is quite uncommon and rarely ever seen as opposed to its more diminutive .22 caliber counter part. SERIAL NUMBER 1 BARREL1 1/4" CALIBER 25 PERCUSSION MANUFACTURED CIRCA 1840. Manufactured by Famed gun maker E.M. Reilly of London. An Irish Catholic gun maker who had a very long and prestigious gun making career specializing in very high grade fowling and and double guns. Very small and ornate single shot "Muff" pistol with folding trigger and screw barrel design. White metal receiver profusely engraved in tight scroll and vine with fire blue finished octagon barrel marked "316. HOLBORN LONDON" left side of frame is marked REILLY" in a bordered banner surrounded by scroll. Ivory one piece bag grip with hammer and muzzle engraved to match receiver. Numbered "1" on bottom barrel flat with matching "1" on belly of receiver. Cased with all accessories including barrel wrench, loading / cleaning rod mechanical brass flask and fir blue finish model with sprue cutter. Case is inset for additional pistol of matching size that is not present. Case is lined in brown velvet and is constructed of highly figured walnut. CONDITION, Very fine with most finishes remaining fully intact, Action operates properly. Bag Grip has a small period shrinkage crack, Case is very fine. ANTIQUE

SERIAL NUMBER N/A BARREL 3 3/8" CALIBER .28 PERCUSSION MANUFACTURED CIRCA 1850 This unusual combination has 3-5/8" octagon German silver barrel, fitted with percussion nipple at breech, hit by large steel hammer. Trigger folds into brass housing at bottom, which also contains 2 folding knife blades; the largest a 3-1/2" spear blade. Second blade is a 2" pen type blade. Ricasso of both are stamped “Unwin & Rodgers NON+XXL”. Body of knife is filled in with German silver. Cap and ball reservoir in butt has hinged lid. Scales of dark gray and white variegated horn are affixed with German silver pins. Butt section of left scale has German silver ball mold which slides into reservoir. Right scale has set of steel tweezers. CONDITION: Very good with blade having light oxidation and period blemishes, Barrel is very good with strong proofs and firing mechanism operates properly .Horn is very fine with some minor bruises and a small chip on bottom of left scale. . Bullet mold and tweezers are excellent. A wonderful addition to any collection of firearms curiosa. ANTIQUE

SERIAL NUMBER 266154. BARREL 5.5". CALIBER 38-40. MADE IN 1905. Standard features include case and blue finish, six shot, single action Bisley with genuine period mother of pearl grips. The rare pearl grips have a few minor chips but nothing major, no cracks or repairs with great color. All barrel and frame legends are sharp. Action just got a tune up by Dave Lanara and indexes as well as lock up is like a vault. Condition. Colors have basically faded out to soft gray patina Straps are blue and brown smooth patina. Barrel and cylinder retain at least 75% blue that is simply dulling with under layer patina. Bore is sharp. Very handsome gun. C&R

RARE JTC INSPECTED COLT SAA U.S. CAVALRY MODEL

SERIAL NUMBER 31129. BARREL 7.5". CALIBER .45 COLT. MADE IN 1876 This is a rare John T. Cleveland inspected Cavalry single action. Cleveland was one of the main inspectors but is the scarcest. Made in the same year as the June 25, 1876 Custer Massacre. Gun has matching numbers on frame, trigger guard, back strap and barrel. Cylinder is stamped JTC with proof P but no number. Frame and barrel are also stamped JTC. Both grip panels have a correct style cartouche stamp. Frame is screw in black powder type. Finish is standard blue and case. Grips are one piece walnut. Condition. Gun was restored at Colt years ago and has the work numbers stamped inside. The gun is accompanied by a fascimile copy of the original Colt factory letter indicating the pistol was delivered to the US Government Inspector October 28, 1876 as part of a shipment of 100 guns. Grips are shy to metal and correct cartouche stamps are restored. All legends are crisp as new. Metal retains at least 98% correct style blue and case colors. Action is tight as new. Bore is near mint. Correct donut style head. Grips are a bit undersized. No US stamp visible on frame probably removed during restoration. All screws are true with nearly all their blue. A rare Custer era cavalry Colt redone by Colt. ANTIQUE

This is an extremely rare example with special order factory barrel length and the tell tale left side barrel stamp only used on these factory short barrel examples. All other features are standard including blue finish, five shot, single action, spur trigger with case color hammer and two piece rosewood bird head grips. Condition. Honest untouched gun retains about 60% plus original factory blue mixing patina and dulling. Barrel legends are sharp. Action needs some attention to advance cylinder. Bore is sharp and clean. grips are excellent. This is the first such example this writer has seen. We cannot even find any recent sold example to compare pricing. ANTIQUE

Chambered for 44 Russian center fire with integral front sight and fitted with butt swivel. A small "P" inspection is found at toe of butt. Assembly number 781 is found on inside of grip under grips, barrel , cylinder and latch. Serial number on butt is obscured due to modification for detachable shoulder stock. Case colored hammer trigger and Russian pattern trigger guard. CONDITION, Very fine with over 95% bright nickel remaining with some small scratches on barrel, muzzle and butt. Six shot percussion cylinder. Most of the guns were sold immediate post war and ended up going west with the post war westward expansion. This revolver has been fitted with a pair of period Buffalo Horn grips and gives great credence to its post war western use. CONDITION, Good with strong bore and functioning action. Finish is mottled blue and patina with most finish on barrel having turned plum. A unique piece of the early American west. ANTIQUE

SERIAL NUMBER 5245. BARREL 7.5". CALIBER 36. MADE 1864-66. The Colt factory burnt to the ground in 1864. The Metropolitan Gun co. seized the opportunity to made a nearly exact replica of the Colt 1851 Navy, Colts biggest selling holster revolver at that time, as to garner the sales of this model while Colt was not producing them. Features include the octagon barrel, six shot cylinder with the roll die Naval battle scene, one piece walnut grips and brass trigger guard. The factory name is stamped on top of the barrel. All numbers are matching including the wedge. Condition. While there is no real finish remaining, gun appear as crisp as the day it was made. Sharp edges, bold legends, nearly 100 % cylinder scene, true screw heads, near mint grips and a strong clean bore. A rarely encountered Colt 1851 Navy clone. ANTIQUE

SERIAL NUMBER 4048. BARREL 2.5". CALIBER .41 RF. MADE 1875-1891. This is the early second variant, factory nickel with case color hammer, bird head walnut grips and spur trigger. Condition. Appears almost unfired. Retains virtually all the original nickel finish. Grips are excellent with fire blue still on screw head. The only visible wear or flaw seems to be the bottom screw head which is slightly marred. ANTIQUE

Boutet is the finest arms artisan of France having provided arms for emperors and kings alike. This pistol is a Gentleman's belt pistol of superb quality yet without the garish decor of the day. CONDITION, Good with the action operating properly. Bore is good with darkness in grooves. The stock is solid with some period chipping around tang, trigger guard and minor stress crack at rear lock screw and left side of forend tip. Exterior has toned to a mottled grey. ANTIQUE

Produced in France and marketed by Manufrance, These octagon barreled tip action Single shot pistols were used in target and pistol dueling / fencing competition. Known as fighting pistols in France Checkered walnut stocks with fluted barrels with drift adjustable sights. Case colored frame with blue finished barrels and furniture. Guns are numbered 1 & 2 and have the Manufrance trademark / proof mark on underside of barrels. These pistols are nearly identical to the pair in the Royal armories collection at Leeds, Dueling / fencing with pistols was an Olympic sport until 1908 and was quite popular in France as a sport. Pistols come cased with removable shields to protect the shooters face & hand. A truly unique set of pistol that can also be fired with lead projectiles as well for traditional sport shooting. CONDITION. Very fine with most all blue finish remaining. Case colors are very strong and walnut grips and forearms are equally fine. Case is very good as well but is missing carry handle. ANTIQUE

SERIAL NUMBER N/A BARREL 26-1/2" CALIBER .58 RIFLED MANUFACTURED CIRCA 1820. Designed by American Elisha Collier and produced in London. 5 shot manually rotated cylinder with full ribbed barrel and percussion ignition. Cased in fine partitioned walnut case with velvet lining. Rifle is nicely engraved with a stand of arms on top of receiver , vine and scroll with a chiseled bored on lock and hammer .Engraved "E.H.COLLIER 96 pt LONDON" on barrel rib with the same engraved on lock. A very advance mechanism for its day with a forward moving gas seal cylinder mechanism. 5 shot fluted cylinder had to be rotated by hand. An extremely rare firearm and will be featured in the soon to be released treatise by Frank Graves on the Collier Firearms. CONDITION. Very good with mechanism functioning properly and all markings and legends legible. The exterior has turned to a mottled brown patina. The stock has a period repair at toe. Bore is good and strong with darkness in grooves. The case is fine with light scuffs and impressions. The linen interior is aged but intact. ANTIQUE

Solid silver 2 piece grips are chisel engraved with flying double headed eagle of Eastern European origin with balance of grip being of scrolls and floral relief. A overlaid gold double headed eagle is mounted on both sides. The brass frame is profusely engraved in scroll and vine with a geometric border at axis of barrel. Barrel is scroll and vine engraved with a small wedding band at confluence of round to octagon section and a geometric border at muzzle. A small gold swivel and stud have been added at butt and is believed for the use as a watch fob or necklace. A wonderful little piece of mechanical art. CONDITION, Very fine with properly operating action, Bore is weak from use. Finish is very fine and pistol presents itself wonderfully. ANTIQUE

One piece varnished walnut grips with 4 screw frame cut for shoulder stock. Brass trigger guard with steel backstrap/ Matching numbers including wedge. Arguably on eof the most recognized revolvers of the Civil War and personal favorite of this cataloger. This example is a recent discovery from western Oregon and never before offered. CONDITION, Good as attic found with an even chocolate patina. All original screws and and has not been disassembled in many years. Good strong bore and action operates properly. Grips are worn from carry with slight material losses at toe and heel from use no damage. Brass trigger guard is a reddish patina with slight brightness at front strap from recent handling. W&C SCOTT LONDON 8-BORE HAMMER SHOTGUN

SERIAL NSN. BARRELS 33 1/4". GAUGE 8-BORE. LOP 14 1/4". This is an outstanding example of a large 8-bore market shotgun from the famous London firearm of W&C Scott. An iconic reminder of market hunting in the later half of the 19th century where hunting was a way of surviving, not of sport. The gun features double exposed hammers, double triggers, browned Damascus barrels, checkered walnut half stock with straight grip, horn tip oak rod, case color frame & hammers. The butt stock is massive and is decorated with 11 sliver inlaid creatures to include fish, fowl, dog, hunter in tree, horse with a missing 12th fish figure at base. Also has silver patch box. Trigger guard is blue. W&C Scott stamped on both side plates and barrel rib. Condition is outstanding. Beautiful Damascus pattern on barrels with majority of original browned finish. Stock is excellent with sharp checkering, no cracks and only minor impressions. Strong 85% case colors on action & hammers. Nice clean bores and fine tight working order. Obviously, this gun saw very little use as most of these were a way to make a living and were well used, not this one. A fine, all original London 8-bore market shotgun that weights over 14 pounds. A
