BERETTA MODEL 92-S SEMI AUTO PISTOL

Lot # 85 (Sale Order: 101 of 859)

SERIAL U415052. BARREL 4.5". CALIBER 9MM. This is the gun that ousted the Colt 1911-A1 from the American military service. Replacing the classic 1911 with an Italian made gun still smells to most gunnies but it had to be a good gun to beat the old war horse Colt. This gun is referred to as the M9 in it's military state. In order to meet requirements of some law enforcement agencies, Beretta modified the Beretta 92 by adding a slide-mounted combined safety and decocking lever, replacing the frame mounted manual thumb safety. This resulted in the 92S, which was adopted by several Italian law enforcement and military units. The magazine release button is at the bottom of the grip as is customary in Europe. This model was produced from 1978 to 1982. This gun shows overall high edge holster wear with handling marks. Slide is stamped R Guns Carpentersville Il . Bore is excellent. *

The 49th battalion was part of the 101 S.T. regiment, Edmont Fusilliels dated April 19, 1915. There is a copy of commendation from King George as well as approximately 100 pages of copies of pertinent information as it relates to Captain Pinder's service and subsequent injury during the great war. Overall fine original condition throughout but the real value in this firearm is its storied history. Having been in the front line trenches with the documentation of an Officer that was shot "Going over the top" in 1916. It is housed in its original leather flap holster that is stamped on back M. Harvey & Company and Walsall G&M 1914 that remains in excellent condition. All of the pertinent paperwork which includes copies of pictures, maps, drawings, news accounts etc will be included with this revolver. Enough history and information to write a book. C&R*
