SERIAL 36655. BARREL 4.5". CALIBER .38ACP. MADE 1916. Period nickel plated with sharp legends, not buffed out. Gutta percha grips are excellent. Magazine is stamped CAL 38 COLT, standard spur hammer, Colt legend on right side of slide, 1902 patent legend on left side. VP proof on trigger guard. Condition. Retains 95% of period nickel that is not factory but nice enough to be. Slide has scattered age freckling , mostly on left side . Bore is strong but frosted. Nice looking nickel Pocket Hammer. C&R DB

Fine with at least 92% plus nickel that shows a bubble and freckles but super clean. Right grip panel has a repair but not bad. Bore is sharp but frosted. Slide legends are crisp. Nice looking gun. Sharp as new patent legends on left side of frame with Colt pony and VP on trigger guard. Right side Colt slide legends equally as sharp. Condition. 98% blue finish with just a hint of high edge wear and hint of patina on right side of slide at muzzle. Grips are near mint. Bore is strong but frosted. Nice enough for a box. C&R DB

SERIAL 538. BARREL 6". CALIBER .38ACP. Factory letter states shipped on August 2, 1900 to Simmons Hardware in St. Louis, Mo with blue finish, grips not listed, sent in shipment of 10 guns. Sight safety has been converted to standard leaf. Gun has rear slide serration, smooth walnut grips, with nickel magazine stamped "PATD SEPT 1884". Left side of slide has the 1897 Browning patent stamps while right side has standard Automatic Colt legend. Trigger guard has VP proof. As an aside, the pistol comes with a notarized letter from the family of the original owner stating he carried this gun for personal defense while working the oil fields around Casper Wyoming. Very interesting Wyoming history. Condition. No original finish, now just a smooth dull gray. Legends are sharp with exception of Pony which is lightly stamped. Bore is sharp but has light ring about half inch from muzzle. C&R DB

Grips are standard checkered walnut with diamond. round knob spur hammer, plain base magazine. Left side of slide has 1905 patent date. Right side Automatic Colt legend. VP stamped on trigger guard. Comes with an original Tryon 1905 catalog (cover off). Condition. Overall mix of flashes of blue with patina and overall age freckling. Legends are legible. Grips show matching wear but are still nicely checkered, just wearing down on points. Rifling is strong but frosted with minor pitting. Nice honest gun that has not been messed with. C&R DB

CUSTOM COLT NEW SERVICE TARGET BLANK REVOLVER

SERIAL 58489. BARREL 7.5". CALIBER .22 WRF BLANKS. MADE IN 1913 This gun started life as a flat top target. An unmarked and not proofed barrel was added, sans front sight, and engraved "NEW SERVICE BLANKS" on left side. On top of the frame is engraved "BLANK ONLY" The cylinder has six steel removable cartridges that are stamped 22 WRF. The gun is professionally blued, still has the wind drift target rear sight and a replacement pair of correct style grips. This gun came out of Oklahoma and was supposedly used in one of the Wild West Shows in that era, the likes of Pawnee Bills show. Condition, 99% blue, razor sharp legends, grips are near mint but not original to gun and don't fit perfectly. An interesting and high condition gun. C&R DB

SERIAL NUMBER: 4051. BARREL: 6". CALIBER: .38 ACP. MANUFACTURED: 1902. One of only about 4,200 made, with this one being in the last 250 produced. Factory letter states this pistol was shipped to J.F. Schmelzer of Kansas City Missouri in April of 1902. Slide markings are mostly gone from the refinishing process, but can be faintly seen. Very thin blade front sight was lightly filed down as well during the refinishing process. Sight safety altered model, with a u-notch rear sight. Reblued finish. Checkered hard rubber grips look to be period. Includes an original blued steel magazine, marked "CAL. 38/COLT" on the base. CONDITION: Metal retains 90% of its reapplied finish, with light wear. Grips have wear, discoloration and scratches. Bore is frosted with good overall rifling. Mechanically fine. Magazine has an even brown patina throughout. JWA C&R

Model and caliber markings on the right side of the slide. "VP" proof on the left side of the trigger guard. Half moon front blade sight and u-notch rear. Original blued finish has been buffed and clean to an even brown patina. Later production checkered orange plastic grips. Includes unmarked blued steel magazine. CONDITION: Metal has been cleaned and buffed to an even brown patina throughout. Grips have light wear and scratches. Bore is frosted, with very good overall rifling. Mechanically good.
