Bolt body is damascened and handle and shroud are scroll engraved. Bolt knob is checkered in multi-panels. Flag safety is also engraved, and is silver inlaid "READY" and "SAFE". (1964) Standard configuration carbine has 20" barrel, Monte Carlo stock with swept cheekpiece, full length stock with metal cap, double set triggers, and white line accents to grip cap and buttplate. Because of extensive engraving no "Mannlicher Schoenauer" markings are present, only serial number, proofs, caliber, "Antinit", "Steyr - Daimler - Puch A. G., Steyr" on left side of action, as well as Steyr logo and Stoeger Arms and "MADE IN AUSTRIA" at bottom of floorplate. Barrel is engraved for nearly its entire length with well cut shaded scroll. Action is deep relief engraved in oak leaf and acorn pattern surrounding relief gold inlaid head of a chamois in alpine setting on top of receiver ring. Swept bolt handle is full relief engraved with oak leaves and acorns. Floorplate has full relief gold inlaid big horn ram central to relief engraved background of trees and mountains. Trigger guard bow has oval vignette of relief gold roebuck in engraved forest setting. More acorns and oak leaves are on tang. Stock of dense and lightly figured flesh toned European walnut has relief carved panels of oak leaves and acorns taking up most of the space not occupied by standard point pattern checkering or cheekpiece. Right side of butt has central oval vignette of semi-relief carved stag jumping over falling log in mountainous setting. This scene is also flanked by more oak leaves and acorns giving near full coverage. Sling loops are gold plated and top of grip cap is set with silver oval engraved with monogram "L D M" (?). Weight: 7 lbs 4 oz. CONDITION: Excellent, very close to new with little evidence of having been fired since proof, with only a few minor marks in all original finishes, and some staining on triggers. (C) HIGH CONDITION WINCHESTER 1892 14" .44-40 TRAPPER - ATF CLEARED.

Lot # 1568 (Sale Order: 568 of 637)

The serial number was applied on this gun on August 8th, 1919 with no other factory information which is common for this period. It is a factory all original so-called Trapper Model with a 14" and short forend. The receiver shows that there had been a ring on this carbine for a short while before being removed and the stud is still present. All other features are standard such as walnut stocks and blue finish with ladder rear sight and post front. CONDITION: This carbine was found in a barn with original Winchester soft case wrapped around it, deteriorated but still there. It must have remained in that barn, untouched, for decades and saw no care. As a result, you have a Trapper that shows very little actual use but the frame finish has simply flaked to about 30% but that which remains is brilliant while balance is a smooth patina. There is a few age freckles and some light thinning on the tube and some spots on left side of barrel that have bubbled mixing with a solid 85-90% original bright Winchester factory blue. The bolt has nearly 99% original blue while the buttplate remains a solid 90% as well. The stocks are near mint with barely a few handling marks. The bore is near new mirror bright and the action is like new. A near new Trapper whose only real wear is not wear at all but simply storage flaws. A wonderful little .44 Trapper. DBAccessories: CaseBarrel Length: 14"Caliber/Bore: .44 WCFFFL Status: Curio & RelicManufacturer: WinchesterModel: 1892 TrapperPaperwork: Cody letter, NFA exempt paperworkSerial Number: 875201

(C) STEVENS 44-1/2 ACTION MODEL 51 WITH SCROLL ENGRAVED ACTION AND INTRICATE BORDERS.

Lot # 1575 (Sale Order: 575 of 637)

Original case color, No. 6 Schuetzen special lever, normally found on the Model 54, has nicely checkered wood inserts. The lever also has a wood addition, nicely checkered, for the thumb when shooting offhand. The action is fitted with double set triggers which work. Buttstock of fancy American walnut. On the left side, at the rear of the checkering pattern in the Fleur-de-Lis style, the wood is scalloped for your thumb to fit more comfortably on the stock, a feature that appears to be factory as the factory checkering goes over it, but has not been observed before. Obviously, this rifle was tailor made for an advanced shooter. Nickel plated No. 3 heavy Swiss buttplate, most unusual as a No. 4 Schuetzen buttplate would be standard on this model. Both buttstock and buttplate are numbered to the action. Full octagon barrel, No. 3 weight, and oddly unmarked except for the serial number matched to the action. Front sight is a Stevens wind gauge that has been gunsmith modified with the top of the sight cut away. Rear sight is a Ballard-Vernier mid-range style made by Ballard. Barrel has two holes several inches apart that are filled, probably originally for an old sight, now long gone. Forearm is checkered with one screw and numbered to rifle with a tip rest made out of a black material, checkered on the bottom, that may or may not be a later replacement for a cork tip rest. CONDITION: Quite a bit of case color remains. Buttstock has a significant grain separation which has been filled and the finish is thin but shows very little handling or abuse. Buttplate has majority of nickel present, except for where prongs would rest. Barrel blue shows very little wear except for high edges. Forearm shows very few handling marks and checkering appears to have been cleaned. Good action with excellent bore. A great old shooters gun, and we wish it could tell us of its previous history.
