(N) VERY INTERESTING WORLD WAR II GERMAN MP 43 MACHINE GUN WITH DUAL SIDE SLING RINGS (CURIO AND REL

Lot # 1032 (Sale Order: 32 of 637)

Very interesting MP43 assembled by C.G. Haenel in 1944, with eagle over “37” proof and “cos” (Mertz werk) on underside of receiver. Bolt has factory cut-out near extractor and was manufactured by Mauser with factory applied “M” marking with C.G. Haenel final proof, however serial number is non-matching. Operating rod serial number position has been lightly buffed with electro pencil scrawl. Receiver and buttstock serial numbers match with very clear “fxo” marking in the wood. One original Nazi marked magazine is included. What is unusual about this gun is that in addition to the standard sling swivel at the right side of the gas block this gun has another fixed sling swivel professionally attached to the left side of the gas block as well. This was accomplished by drilling a hole through the gas block, passing the sling loop stud through, and then peening over the head to make it fast. Nice job. The 'why' is a mystery. This model was highly effective and the first modern assault rifle produced in significant quantities. It incorporates many desirable features such as being select-fire, firing from a closed bolt, taking an intermediate length cartridge (shorter than the standard 8mm) which was less bulky to carry, and yet could range out further and with greater effect than a pistol cartridge. The shorter cartridge allowed for a high 30 round magazine capacity. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is very good original finish with loss of finish to grey and brown patina on metal parts exclusive of barrel and gas block. There is a weld filled hole at the bottom on the receiver forward of the magazine weld and the barrel, gas block, and front sight finish are much better indicating there are replacements incidental to reactivation. Wood butt is 5-5/8” high profile style and has numerous dings and handling marks. Mechanics are fine. Bore is extremely fine shiny and bright. Bolt is extremely fine. This is a select-fire machine gun. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO & RELIC ELIGIBLE. (N) EXCEPTIONALLY RARE U.S. MILITARY SUCCESSOR TO M1A1 THOMPSON MARLIN MANUFACTURED M2 MACHINE GUN (

Lot # 1037 (Sale Order: 37 of 637)

Marlin manufactured and Numrich Arms Company registered, this M2 submachine gun was the model which came in between the M1A1 Thompson and the M3 Grease gun. The massive receiver is marked with serial number, model “SUBMACHINE GUN CAL .45 M2”, and “MARLIN FIREARMS COMPANY” followed by company address. One can see that this model was an attempt to simplify the manufacturing processes of a milled steel submachine gun, and utilized features found on other U.S. manufactured guns of the period. It has a bolt very much like the M1A1 Thompson with a fixed firing pin, an upper handguard and front sight much like those of the M1 carbine, and a magazine well that is somewhat reminiscent of the Harrington and Richardson Model 50, but is one casting integral to the receiver/handgrip assembly, with a one piece wooden grip that bolts into the frame from the bottom. The safety is a simple flip switch on left side of the trigger housing and the selector is also a simple flip switch. Sling swivels on the left side are simple fixed metal stampings. Includes two standard 30 round Thompson magazines. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine to near excellent original lustrous blue finish with a duller finish on the receiver/handgrip assembly. Wood is extremely fine to near excellent with a small chip out of the left forward edge of the handguard and a corresponding tiny crack on the right forward edge of the handguard forward of the retention band. Wood has been sanded and professionally refinished. There is a diagonal bruise on left side above handgrip and otherwise the wood has light handling marks. There is a little loss of finish to the forward band exposing a gray patina as well as just a hint of loss on the sight ears. Mechanics are crisp. Bore is extremely fine shiny and bright. Bolt is extremely fine. This is a select-fire machine gun. It is worth noting that although this cataloger has no verification, this gun was probably part of Auto Ordnances inventory when they were taken over by Numrich Arms Company, and hence this is how this gun came to be registered as it is. This is an example of an important step of the evolution of the American military submachine gun with an interesting combination of familiar features. Consignor states it is a fun gun to shoot as well. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. (N) THE ONLY REMAINING PANCOR MK3 “JACKHAMMER” SELECT FIRE REVOLVING SHOTGUN MACHINE GUN IN EXISTENC

Lot # 1041 (Sale Order: 41 of 637)

This is an unbelievably rare piece of firearms history, with only three functional weapons ever being produced, and two of those were intentionally destroyed incidental to endurance testing by HP White Labs, leaving only this one. The MK3 fully automatic shotgun was developed by John Andersen based on his experiences during the Korean War, where he found that the pump action shotguns used by the military were difficult to load and took far too much time. His solution was the MK3, more popularly known as the Jackhammer. The Jackhammer cannibalized elements of various firearms and put them together to form a bullpup revolving select fire shotgun. The magazine is a cylinder with very distinct cuts reminiscent of the Webley-Fosbery and utilized a pin on the operating rod to rotate it. The barrel utilizes a tapered breech which sinks into the magazine, forming a gas seal similar to the Nagant revolver, that is broken by the firing sequence, where gas releases the barrel and blows it forward, allowing the operating rod pin the perform a half cycle to the next chamber, and then the recoil spring drives back, letting the operating rod pin complete the cycle to the next chamber and letting the barrel reseat in the cylinder, ready to fire again. The iron sights are a simple V-notch and post and mounted within the carrying handle. There is a five-vent muzzle brake attached over the end of the barrel that holds the recoil spring in place. Rear of drum housing with a small metal plaque reading “MANUFACTURED BY / (LOGO) / PAN ASSOCIATES / DENVER COLORADO 80200 / NO. JHMK3AI / 2.75 12 GAUGE ONLY”. This particular gun is most appropriately called a tool room prototype, and weighs more than 17 pounds, significantly heavier than guns provided to HP White. Additionally, this gun has operational idiosyncrasies that would never make it to a production gun; for example, replacement of the magazine requires partial disassembly, and many of the parts are made out of cast metal, explaining the heavy weight. This particular specimen is instantly recognizable as the owner who purchased it from Andersen replaced the forearm with a ribbed grip from an MP5SD and then rented the gun out to animation studios, movie studios, and others to utilize as a sci-fi looking weapon. Accompanying this gun are five additional recoil springs. CONDITION: Overall extremely fine, retaining the majority of its finish, with some marks from handling and operation. Selector switch has a distinct line between the three positions, and sections of the buttstock and the grips have rubbed to gray patina. Heavy machining marks are visible in some places, such as trigger and muzzle brake. There is a good-sized area on the muzzle brake that retains its black finish, but is now largely a silver patina. Magazine has a few areas of brassing and nicks from where the operation rod pin has hit it. There is one small area of added white paint in one of the channels. Mechanics are very good, somewhat soft. Bore is very good to excellent. Bolt face is very good. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to own this shotgun, which is a machine gun and registered as such in the NFA registry, and if you are a collector of NFA items, interesting prototype weapons, or just famous guns, you cannot afford to miss this. Originally designed to be mounted in early aircraft, it was not long until aircraft had become tough enough so that these were no longer effective in the role for which they were intended. They still made an impressive display of force could certainly take out personnel. This specimen is set-up for ground use with front mounted bipod. Two original 25 round magazines and an Italian instruction manual are included with this lot. This is an early production specimen with lever release magazine catches. This gun exhibits Old World high quality fit and finish of blued steel metal parts together with plum colored steel and brass which makes this a highly attractive early machine gun. Both right and left gun actions have proper spring tension and fire from open bolt. Separate firing actuators for each side however when safety is in safe position neither side will fire. Magazines are held in place by a rotating collar on each gun action. CONDITION: Overall finish and appearance is outstanding, over 96% lustrous blued finish with some slight chatter scruff/nicks remaining left side of right gun barrel. Mechanics are fine. Bores are extremely fine, shiny and bright with some frosting in left barrel. 9mm Glisenti ammunition can be loaded from 9mm Parabellum cases. It is noteworthy that although designed for 9mm Glisenti ammunition this gun will chamber and shoot 9mm Parabellum ammunition and people have shot standard 9mm in this model before without any mishap, no doubt due to the robust design of this gun. This cataloger can attest that this model machine gun is an extremely fun to shoot as well as being extremely rare in the NFA registry. Please note that there is a reproduction bomber pedestal mount for this gun which is being offered as a separate lot in this same auction. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO & RELIC ELIGIBLE. JWK 2019-10-203. Lot # 1048 (Sale Order: 48 of 637)

Gun has typical right and left receiver markings with fixed peep sight, smooth unfinned barrel, and non-detachable buttstock. (N) ABSOLUTELY STUNNING CONDITION ORIGINAL AMNESTY REGISTERED RUSSIAN PPSH-41 MACHINE GUN WITH COPY

Lot # 1049 (Sale Order: 49 of 637)

Fantastic Soviet Russian PPSh-41 machine gun manufactured in 1944 by the Vyatskie Polyany factory as indicated by the star within the shield marking forward of the ejector port. This is one of the major manufacturers of this machine gun during World War II. Visible serial numbers appear matching on upper receiver, lower assembly tang, trigger guard, and upon close examination, one can almost discern them on the left side of the stock. Bolt also seems to match but a couple numbers are hard to make out. Observe the pictures and judge for yourself. Barrel does not display a serial number but does have a very lightly electro penciled number on right side, “B3 588”. One 71 round drum magazine and original sling is included. Although over five million of these guns were manufactured in Soviet Russia, they are a rather scarce item as a fully transferable Curio and Relic eligible machine gun in the National Firearms Act registry. Original amnesty registration form is included with this lot. Incoming paper ATF Form 4 from consignor indicates “Russian” in manufacturers block. Electronic registry indicates, ”ASKLAND, RUSSELL LEE DBA SXT” in this field, which likely is the entity which reactivated this gun. This should in no way detract from the collector value of this gun as the legal status remains Curio and Relic and the condition is absolutely stellar. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent original finish over original manufacturer’s machine marks, tooling marks and pitting acquired at factory prior to bluing. One must remember the conditions under which these weapons were made, and that they were made as quickly as possible for immediate fielding and use. Functionality was the primary concern followed with desire that the guns be protected from corrosion in the field. Tool marks, welding imperfections, and rust acquired as the factory from conditions there did not matter in the least. The wear pattern and thinning of the finish to grey patina at certain points indicate the pinprick pitting and strike marks were acquired vintage of when the firearm was made and not contemporary. Wood stock has been lightly sanded and refinished. Drum number 8808 with faint electro pencil BH2384 has about 90% coverage remaining over light pitting. Mechanics of gun and drum are fine albeit untested by firing. Bore is near excellent, shiny and bright. Bolt is extremely fine. This is a select fire machine gun. A great gun for the discerning machine gun collector as it was used by enemy forces across several major conflicts. Ammunition remains plentiful and available in this country. A great specimen in top condition for the advanced and discerning World War II collector! THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER.
