(C) RARE BLUE COLT Model 1911AI US ARMY SEMI AUTOMATIC PISTOL INSPECTED BY CHARLES REED.

Lot # 1501 (Sale Order: 501 of 637)

Pre-war 1941 Colt inspected by Charles Reed who worked from 1938-40 only. The finish is brushed blue by Colt, one of the last blue examples and assembled in early 1941 as Reed inspected this gun in 1940. The right side of frame has "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" and "M1911A1 US ARMY". The left side of frame has the CSR stamp for Charles Reed along with proof P which is also stamped on top of frame. Parts include checkered wide spur hammer, checkered short trigger, fully checkered walnut grips, checkered arched mainspring housing with loop, type II rear sight with beveled edge U notch. Slide stop and safety are checkered. CONDITION: Blue finish still remains at 99% with just light handling marks and drag line. Fine bore and crisp action. Any Reed inspected Colt is highly desirable as they all predate Pearl Harbor and this example is a prime condition example. A blue pre-War Reed inspected Colt is one of the hardest to locate of all World War II era Model 1911's and it would be hard to find a nicer near mint example. (C) EXTREMELY RARE FACTORY COLLECTION SAVAGE 1907 U.S. ARMY TRIALS ISSUED .45 CALIBER PISTOL WITH DO

Lot # 1504 (Sale Order: 504 of 637)

This is a very rare, documented Savage model 1907 .45 Amy test pistol. According to the Edward Meadows book "U.S. MILITARY AUTOMATIC PISTOLS", this particular gun by serial number, was issued to Troop I, 3rd Cavalry Regiment stationed at Fort Wingate, New Mexico. This information can be found on page 261. While the serial number block allocated by Savage suggest as many as 288 of these pistols made, Savage has stated that only 200 were actually produced. These guns, out of a total of 8 different firearms submitted during the "1911 Trials" were the only viable competitor to the Colt 1911 with the Colt design eventually winning out. Located on the front lip of the frame is the factory applied marking of "R2" which denotes that it was retained by the Savage factory after being returned from the US Army for their archives. Simply marked on the top of the slide "CAL. 45". "SAFE" & "FIRE" markings on the left side of the frame. This gun was purchased in 1977 at auction when the Savage Arms Company sold off its collection. Purchased directly by a well known dealer who was located only a 15 minute drive in a neighboring town to Utica, NY where the factory was located. Accompanying this gun is a handwritten list of the guns, by serial number, that were purchased directly from that auction. There is another receipt, dated 2007, showing the sale of this gun from that dealer to the consignor. There is also other accompanying paperwork. All numbers, including the magazine are matching with the exception of the left grip which is numbered "38" and the right grip which is unnumbered. CONDITION: Retains 90% of a thin factory refinish. Markings are clear. Wood grips are good with good checkering. Bore is fine with strong rifling. Good mechanical function, although the slide release spring is missing as is common on these. GRBarrel Length: 5 - 1/4"Caliber/Bore: .45 ACPFFL Status: Curio & RelicManufacturer: SavageModel: 1907Paperwork: Photos and information, CDSerial Number: 11

(C) RARE WEBLEY & SCOTT MARK I No. 2 1915 SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL SHOULDER STOCK MODEL.

Lot # 1506 (Sale Order: 506 of 637)

Machined on left grip panel to accept a removable stock and fitted with the newly invented rotary rear sight and chambered for the .455 cartridge. This variation was approved on April 26, 1915 after receiving an order for 300 such examples with 150 stocks placed on April 24, 1915. Many of these military model pistols were ordered for the Royal Horse Artillery for use in the recently engaged Great War which England had entered in 1914. This example has Webley Scott stamp with 1915 date on left side of frame. The bolt has numerous British proof stamps, as is both sides of frame. The finish is a brushed dull blue and grips are made of black composition and there is a lanyard ring in butt. There is quite a bit of history written on this rare gun in the book entitled "Webley & Scott Automatic Pistols" by Gordon Bruce. CONDITION: Gun retains some blue that is mixing with soft patina. All legends are sharp. The grips are excellent. Gun has a mirror bore. Total production of this model was very low and given that it came out in time to see use during the entire First World War, surviving examples are virtually non-existent. (M) RARE CASED MBA ASSOCIATES GYROJET MK I PISTOL.

Lot # 1512 (Sale Order: 512 of 637)

Robert Mainhardt and Art Biehl joined forces to form MBAssociates, or MBA, in order to develop Biehl's armor-piercing rocket rounds. Originally developed in a .51 caliber, the cartridges were self-contained self-propelled rockets with calibers ranging from .49 and 6mm to 20mm. Of an entire family of firearms, including machine guns and special purpose weapons, only the pistol and carbine were actually completed. The carbines and an assault rifle variant with a removable grip-inserted magazine were tested by the US Army, where they proved to have problems with reliability. About 1,000 of the "Rocketeer" model pistols were produced; a few saw service in the Vietnam War, and were featured in the James Bond book and movie You Only Live Twice, the Matt Helm film Murderers' Row, as well as one of The Man from U.N.C.L.E. novels. After the military passed on the pistols, the majority were sold to the civilian market in the mid 1960's. These were Mark I Gyrojets, which launched a .51 caliber rocket, and ammunition was costly to produce and buy. In 1968, the advent of the National Firearms Act and the designation of the pistols as Destructive Desvices necessecitated the revelopment of the pistol into the Mark II, which fired a .49 caliber rocket. This is a scarce nickel version with faux black pearlite grips that comes in a walnut display case with plaque on inside lid. There is a walnut dinner display of 10 rounds of ammunition with bronze coin honoring Robert Hutchings Goddard 1882-1945. Goddard was an American engineer, professor, physicist, and inventor who is credited with creating and building the world's first liquid-fueled rocket, which he launced in March of 1926. CONDITION: Aside from a few handling marks and some light frosting of nickel finish, retains a solid 98%. Along with the ten rounds displayed within the case, there is a partial box of 16 additional rounds. One of the best examples of this rare space age weapon extant. (C) SAIPAN PROVENANCE US COLT MODEL 1911-A1 SEMI AUTOMATIC PISTOL.

Lot # 1522 (Sale Order: 522 of 637)

This gun is an all original US Colt World War II era gun with a serial number dating it to 1941. It is standard in all respects with a GHD (Guy Dewey) stamp and crossed cannons on left side with all proper World War II era Colt parts and parkerized finish with no visible slide temper line. There are no extra stamps such as import/export, etc., but does come with a letter from the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) stating the pistol, serial number 1722140, was sold from their inventory to private collector Aldo Burdi of West Virginia. According to documents, this gun has been in the custody of the CNMI government since the end of the Battle of Saipan in July of 1944. These guns were maintained in the armory located on the island of Saipan. They were turned in by locals and U.S. Forces after the cessation of hostilities in July of 1944. Some were used by the local police after the war but were soon replaced by more modern firearms and were put into storage on the island. A copy of this gun’s serial number and shipping records from Saipan to West Virginia are included. This gun would have been in the hands of U.S. Forces, local guerillas or the Japanese until surrendered at the battles end where it resided until recently sold.
