(N) VETERAN HARRINGTON AND RICHARDSON REISING MODEL 50 MACHINE GUN (PRE-86 DEALER SAMPLE).

Lot # 1079 (Sale Order: 79 of 637)

Veteran example of a smooth finish Reising Model 50 machine gun with compensator. Stock has vintage side sling swivels and original green web military sling of Korean War era vintage. One 20 round magazine is included with this lot. The Reising Model 50 is a quality-built machine gun which was fielded in limited numbers mostly to the Marine corps during WW2. It may well be that some were held on to for Korea as well. Side mounting of the sling was a particular preference of the British, but this is simply offered as an observation. The Reising has an intrinsic accuracy advantage of firing from a closed bolt on the first shot. The Reising Model 50 is a popular entry level machine gun today. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is very good to fine original finish turning a nice even grey brown patina with some thinning to gray finish. There is a 3 " long crack in the wood at the forward sling swivel which does not affect serviceability. Mechanics are fine. Bore is extremely fine, shiny and bright. Bolt face is extremely fine. Wood has numerous dings, bruises and handling marks. Vacant holes at underside of stock where original sling swivels were removed. Wear pattern yet clean critical internals indicate this was a Soldier’s combat used weapon. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS TRANSFERABLE ONLY TO ACTIVE FFL/SOT DEALERS ON AN ATF FORM 3 BUT MAY BE RETAINED BY SOLE PROPRIETOR FFL/SOT HOLDERS WHEN THEY RELINQUISH THEIR LICENSES UPON BATF APPROVAL. In the original box Military Armament Corporation Powder Springs “SSSW” Single-Shot Survival Weapon (Pen Gun) as was supplied to U.S. Government for covert operations use as well as to the civilian market. A mere 3 ¼” long in carry-mode and only 5/8” in diameter it was originally supplied to covert ops personnel with a rubber sleeve so it could be concealed in a body cavity until needed for use. (D) SCARCE RUSSIAN WORLD WAR II DEGTYARYOV 1941 PTR-D ANTI-TANK RIFLE (DESTRUCTIVE DEVICE).

Lot # 1085 (Sale Order: 85 of 637)

Scarce desirable Russian World War II PTR-D single shot anti-tank rifle. As were so many of the anti-tank weapons in use at the beginning of World War II, this one was effective against the tanks and armored cars of the late 1920’s and 1930’s, but were soon found to be ineffective against the more modern armor being fielded in ever greater numbers. It is a straightforward enlarged bolt action rifle with only two locking lugs at either side of the large bolt which has a large hook to enable manual cocking if desired. This rifle cocks upon bolt closure otherwise. Serial number and date (1943) at top rear of receiver with non-matching number on barrel. No bipod present. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is fair to good original finish turned brown and otherwise thinning to expose gray patina. Wood furnishings condition is consistent and worn yet completely serviceable. Cheek piece canvas cover starting to fray and split but also remains serviceable. Mechanics are fine. Bore is dark and uncleaned (imagine the cleaning rod you would need), but with the ammunition being so scarce this item is primarily a collectors item and a very relevant one for someone who desires a collection of Destructive Devices from the major major powers of World War II. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS A “DESTRUCTIVE DEVICE”. Lot # 1086 (Sale Order: 86 of 637)

The Stokes mortar was developed by Frederick Wilfred Scott Stokes early in 1915 as a result of the British encountering the German minenwerfer on the Western front. As so often happens, once one side has something, the other side wants to have their own version. This is a World War II 1941 manufactured mortar marked “ML 3 IN – MORTAR MK II” over “1941”. It includes the original bipod and baseplate. No optics present. This particular specimen was amnesty registered with an IRS number. By World War II there was very little difference between the basic 81 MM mortar designs of several countries. All were based on the earlier French Brandt Model 27/31 mortar design. The bipod of this mortar is very robust with a heavy brass collar because the British recognized the significant energy contained in the propellent to launch their mortar “bombs” up to 2500 yards. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine to near excellent original green paint with numerous small dings and scratches to the paint on the tube with the 8” closest to the muzzle appropriately devoid of paint to facilitate the bipod collar. About 50% loss to the paint at receiver cup revealing clean bare metal where it meets the baseplate. Bipod is very good with green paint chipping away with to reveal a gray patina. Baseplate retains carrying chain and original paint chipping away to reveal spots of brown patina. Mechanics of bipod are functional. Bore is extremely fine and clean with some original paint and otherwise gray patina. Just a great World War II British mortar to take to a reenactment for display, or to the range for a little recreation. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS A DESTRUCTIVE DEVICE. JWK 2019-10-201. Accessories: Bipod and baseplateBarrel Length: 39 - 1/8"Caliber/Bore: 3"FFL Status: Destructive DeviceManufacturer: EnglandModel: 1940 StokesSerial Number: IRS-5927

Lot # 1093 (Sale Order: 93 of 637)

Manufactured by Birmingham Small Arms Company, the Lewis machine gun was the most preferred “light” machine gun used by either side during World War I. The Germans gladly employed them whenever they could capture enough ammunition to make the use of them worthwhile. They were lighter than the Maxim 08/15, and one did not need to worry about carrying belts of ammunition subject to adverse weather conditions. This gun, like most others encountered has been renumbered from its original 5-digit number to an “A” prefix number which is the registration number with BATF. This number matches on the shroud, receiver, and receiver action cover assemblies. Bolt does not match. Includes clamp-on airplane front sight and clamp-on bipod. No pan magazine present. Typical markings on receiver action cover “Manufactured by” / “The Birmingham Small Arms Co LTD” / “ENGLAND” / “for” / “Armes Automatiques Lewis” / “BELGIUM” just forward of rear sight marked “Lewis Auto Gun” / “Mod.1914-Pat.” This gun also displays British proof marks on several parts with broad arrow. This gun is a reactivated amnesty registered gun with appropriate markings and remains Curio and Relic eligible. CONDITION: Overall finish and appearance is very good original finish with quite a bit of thinning to gray patina or otherwise brown patina. Wood retains oiler in stock and stock has a 2” long crack near the top of the receiver running parallel to the bore line on the left side and a stock repair about a 2” by 2” at the heel near the buttplate, and has numerous little dings bruises, and light handling marks. Mechanics are fine. Bore is fine with good clean lands and grooves with scattered light pitting with a ring of corrosion near the gas port. Bolt face is fine. Grip panels are very good with some dings, bruises and handling marks. One needs only a readily available pan magazine and some .303 ammunition to have a great time at the range with this gun! THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 or 4 AS CURIO AND RELIC ELIGIBLE. (N) POPULAR FUN TO SHOOT BRITISH LEWIS MODEL OF 1914 MACHINE GUN (CURIO & RELIC).

Lot # 1097 (Sale Order: 97 of 637)

Manufactured by Birmingham Small Arms Company, the Lewis machine gun was the most preferred by either side during World War I. The Germans gladly employed them whenever they could capture enough ammunition to make the use of them worthwhile. They were lighter than the Maxim, and one did not need to worry about carrying belts of ammunition. One 47 round pan magazine is included with this gun. This gun, like most others encountered has been renumbered from its original 5-digit number to an “A” prefix number which is the registration number with BATF. Earlier serial numbers are lined through, none of which match each other. Marked on rear of receiver “Manufactured by” / “The Birmingham Small Arms Co LTD” / “ENGLAND” / “for” / “Armes Automatiques Lewis” / “BELGIUM” just forward of rear sight marked “Lewis Auto Gun” / “Mod.1914-Pat.” This gun also displays British proof marks on several parts with broad arrow. Bolt serial number E4903 does not match serial number. CONDITION: Overall finish and appearance is fine original finish with wear to gray patina at high edges a small dime sized area of pitting at right side rear of radiator shroud and some areas taking on a brown patina. Mechanics are fine. Bore is good with scattered light pitting with a ring of corrosion near the gas port. Bolt face is fine. Grip panels are very good with some dings, bruises and handling marks. Buttstock is very good and serviceable with a solitary crack running parallel to the bore line from the rear sling hardware to the buttplate. This is a very nice Lewis gun and has one of the smoothest actions of the many this cataloger has seen. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 or 4 AS CURIO AND RELIC ELIGIBLE. (N) CLASSIC 1945 DATED GERMAN WORLD WAR II MG-34 MACHINE GUN (PRE-86 DEALER SAMPLE).

Lot # 1098 (Sale Order: 98 of 637)

Very attractive and mostly matching German World War II MG34. Although NFA registry indicates “Mauser” as manufacturer, this guns receiver, shroud and buffer cup are all matching and were manufactured by Waffenwerke Brunn (dot) in 1945. WaA proofs confirm this, and correction to registry may be requested incidental to paper form 3 transfer should the buyer desire this. No post-war Israeli markings. Top cover never serialized and manufactured by Grossfuss (bpr). Buttstock cup and buttstock serial 727. Accessories include, in addition to what is on/in the gun, original pebble leather gunners kit with spare (non-matching) bolt, wrench, AA spider sight, hot barrel mitt, and green rubber muzzle covers. Also included are three original ammo cans with ten metal belt segments and approximately 300 rounds of berdan primed non-corrosive Portuguese ammunition, and one original 50 round tan assault drum. None of the bolts or barrels match the gun’s serial number. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine original finish with some loss of finish turning to a gray patina at the high edges. Much less finish on the feed tray, which enhances the indication that this is a good running gun. Generally, if the shrouds match the receivers, and the wear patterns indicate it, the MG-34’s run well. Mechanics are fine. Bore is very good with evidence of firing long ago. Bolts all are fine. This is a select-fire machine gun. A great example of the iconic classic machined steel German belt fed machine gun from World War II in great condition to take to the range.
