Lot # 1101 (Sale Order: 101 of 637)

This very attractive Vickers gun is listed in the electronic NFA registry with “COLT” in the manufacture’s block, “Vickers 1918” as the model and “11” as the caliber. No OAL listed. Companion shooting supplies carried out the conversion of this Colt Vickers aircraft gun to be able to be shot on a standard tripod like a ground gun by substituting the following standard parts: Armored muzzle booster, .303 barrel, feed-block, lock, top cover, and standard ground backplate and handle. Original water jacket and fusee cover retained as well as fusee spring assembly. No steam tube present inside jacket, so this is an air-cooled only gun. One brass head Vickers tripod without data plate or mounting pins, and section of Russian Maxim belt is included. Also included are two Russian ammo cans with a 200 round metal 7.62 x 54R Maxim belt in each. This gun is currently set-up to shoot .303 British with a “MA” (Australian) lock, but could be readily converted to shoot .30-06, 8 mm Mauser, or even .308 if one had the correct parts. Parts remain available to convert the Vickers to shoot the popular 7.62 Russian cartridge as well. This gun has been professionally assembled and refinished and presents extremely well. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent as refinished in a smooth gray finish with brass parts a pleasing dull color. Mechanics are fine. This cataloger doubts it has been fired since remanufacture. Backplate handles are just beautiful! Bore is near excellent, shiny and bright. Bolt face is near excellent. Tripod has repainted legs. Traverse elevation mechanism works fine. Tripod pins are included although not present in photograph. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. (N) EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION AMERICAN ARMS M2 AMERICAN 180 MACHINE GUN (FULLY TRANSFERABLE).

Lot # 1103 (Sale Order: 103 of 637)

Absolutely outstanding American Arms M2 American 180 with typical markings on underside of receiver. Primarily made of aluminum with horizontal foregrip, ribbed barrel, and includes original instruction manual, one pan magazine with winder/driver and documented and signed digital readout of cyclic rate dated 11/9/2010 using Federal Lightning ammunition with this exact gun identified by serial number (talk about having foresight!). This is one of two American 180 machine guns the same consignor owns, and obviously this is the one he kept in near mint condition while he fired the other for recreation. The American 180 is considered by many to be one of the best of the .22 machine guns. This cataloger can attest that these are loads of fun to shoot, and very popular guns. Magazine system utilizes a hand-wound spring device to rotate the drum on a steel plate which brings the rounds within the mag in-line to feed into the gun. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent original deep lustrous blued finish on barrel with black anodization on aluminum parts. If it were not for the documentation one might think this gun was unfired. Wood is near excellent. Mechanics are crisp. Bore is near excellent, shiny and bright. Original steel magazine near excellent. This is a select-fire machine gun. It would be pretty difficult to improve on the condition of this specimen for fit, finish and overall attractiveness. For those of you with this model gun, try “Federal Lightnings” in your gun. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. (N) DESIRABLE ORIGINAL MARLIN MANUFACTURED UNITED DEFENSE UD-42 MACHINE GUN (PRE-86 DEALER SAMPLE).

Lot # 1106 (Sale Order: 106 of 637)

The Popular UD-42 machine gun is a very effective and easy to hold on target machine gun. Manufactured by Marlin for the United Defense Supply corporation, and originally intended to replace the Thompson. However, since it was still a machined steel machine gun and labor intensive to produce, it was instead utilized as an arm to be dropped behind enemy lines for resistance and Partizan use. As a machine gun chambered in 9mm it could utilize captured enemy ammunition. The British called it the “Avenger”, as an appropriate nickname for forces “avenging” the occupation of their country. Straightforward manufacturer’s markings on the left side of the receiver, this gun includes two original 25 round magazines which are brazed together at the front to provide easy access to 50 rounds in one assembly. ATF Registration form shows simply, "Marlin” in the manufacturer’s block, but tiny Inter American Import Export Company markings are visible under the serial number and on receiver. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is fine original finish turning brown with scattered light pinprick pitting. 5 ½” long section of buttstock exhibits vintage wood replacement. Otherwise light dings and handling marks. Mechanics are fine. Bore is very good turning dark. Bolt face is fine. This is a select fire machine gun. A nice specimen and a fun fast firing machine gun to shoot. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS TRANSFERABLE ONLY TO ACTIVE FFL/SOT DEALERS ON AN ATF FORM 3 BUT MAY BE RETAINED BY SOLE PROPRIETOR FFL/SOT HOLDERS WHEN THEY RELINQUISH THEIR LICENSES UPON BATF APPROVAL. (D) EXTREMELY RARE SWISS MODEL 1941 ANTI-TANK GUN IN 24MM (DESTRUCTIVE DEVICE)

Lot # 1110 (Sale Order: 110 of 637)

The Swiss Model 1941 anti-tank gun is particularly interesting in that it has a locked breech, short recoil, kinked toggle, striker action fire action which is identical to that of a Luger turned 90 degrees with the addition of a huge cocking lever. Action is marked “WAFFENFABRIK BERN” with Swiss cross on right side of receiver. Visible numbers are matching, muzzle, barrel, receiver, and shoulder rest. This anti-tank gun includes in addition to its original tripod, an original detachable shoulder rest, two original web and leather magazine carrying satchels with eight original magazines, as well as original muzzle cover. Sheet metal toggle action cover not present, but this does not affect functionality. Ian McCollum provided a very comprehensive video presentation on this model when we offered one at auction in Fall 2018 https://www.forgottenweapons.com/swiss-tankbuchse-41-semiauto-antitank-rifle/. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is fine to extremely fine smooth dull blue finish with black enamel paint, and otherwise black anodized parts. Barrel is pretty much devoid of finish except for right near the locking collar. Muzzle retains about 85% of its original finish otherwise a gray patina. Charging handle has loss some of its anodization revealing aluminum colored alloy underneath. Bore is extremely fine shiny and bright. Bolt is extremely fine to near excellent. Tripod has over 90% original green paint coverage with some chips revealing small spots of brown. Overall a very fine specimen of a very well made and desirable WW2 era anti-tank gun. Very few of these guns are in the United States at all, and having fired one this last December, this cataloger can state that the balance of this gun makes firing it a dream! A great find coming from the consignor who registered this piece during the amnesty of 1968, and a must for the advanced Luger collector as the "Largest Luger". (N) FANTASTIC COLT 1921 THOMPSON SPECIALLY FITTED WITH CUSTOM MADE FRONT SIGHT AND SILENCER (CURIO &

Lot # 1111 (Sale Order: 111 of 637)

Colt 1921 Thompson with Cutts compensator retaining original 1921 internal parts and correct cartouched buttstock. Includes reproduction hard case with matching numbered (3750) body and cover early “New York, N.Y., USA” 50 round drum with nickel rotor. Also includes three 1920 patent date and one Bridgeport 20 round magazines, and one steel 16 ½” cleaning rod. Cutts compensator currently off gun is early unmarked type appropriate for this gun. What is really neat about this piece is that the consignor designed and machined a front sight which faithfully matched the height and position of the original blade on the compensator, and looks identical to the 1921A front sight, except that the newly machined piece extends threads which are designed to take Knight’s Armament MK23USP suppressor as manufactured for the H&K 23 pistol. In short, without any permanent alteration to the gun, one can change from original compensator to silencer simply by removing the retention pin and screwing the newly made front sight with threads, then silencer on. When one wants to put the compensator back on, just unscrew the silencer and then the newly made front sight and put the compensator back on. Magnificent idea, and it works! Consignor states he has shot many rounds out of this gun using the HK silencer. He purchased and included a new-in-box MK23/USP CAL. 45 silencer with this lot, as he retained the silencer he had been using. Gun has typical markings on receiver with visible serial numbers matching. “JHB” inspection mark visible on right side of receiver. The Colt Thompson is the most iconic of all American machine guns. The first in the line of Thompson machine guns produced it is a recognized symbol of the 1920's prohibition era as well as World War II. The Thompson spans a range across several collecting genres, with plenty of variations and accessories to appeal to a wide range of collector/investors. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine to near excellent with deep lustrous blue original finish with some areas thing to a gray patina particularly at the high edges. Receiver exhibits some heat discoloration where barrel screws into receiver indicating barrel was replaced at some point. Index mark is perfectly aligned and there is no proofmark of any kind on the barrel. Buttplate finish thinning to a gray patina. Wood is extremely fine with a rich brown color and light handling marks. Drum has an extremely fine dull matte refinish. Magazine near excellent lustrous original finish. Very attractive! Mechanics are crisp. Bore is extremely fine shiny and bright. Bolt face extremely fine. This is a select fire machine gun. This is a welcome new contemporary variation for the Thompson. No doubt others have thought they would like the option for a silencer on their Thompson without altering the collectible nature of the gun. Well, here one is. A handsome example with very valuable accessories. These items will incur two separate transfer taxes if transferred on ATF Form 4’s. THESE ARE NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEMS AND REQUIRE BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THE MACHINE GUN IS CURIO AND RELIC ELIGIBLE WITH CUTTS COMPENSATOR ATTACHED. SUPPRESSOR WILL TRANSFER SEPARATELY. BOTH ITEMS ARE FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON ATF FORMS 3 OR 4. (N) EXTREMELY ATTRACTIVE GERMAN MP-44 MACHINE GUN WITH STG 44 MARKED MAGAZINE (CURIO & RELIC).

Lot # 1112 (Sale Order: 112 of 637)

Very attractive "bnz" (Steyr) MP44 manufactured in 1944 with clear "WaA 623" proofs on receiver forward of the magazine housing. Visible numbers appear all matching including bolt upon field stripping. Charging handle/operating piston appears to be an unnumbered waffenmeister replacement. Beautiful wooden buttstock with clear "ayf" (ERMA) manufacturers code on left side on sling recess. "824 c" on hardware of buttstock assembly also appears to be a vintage waffenmeister renumber. Accessories include an original albeit unmarked leather sling with correct stitching and seven original Nazi marked magazines in a pair of unmarked tan magazine pouches. Six of the magazines are "MP44" marked but the 7th is a real prize, marked "St.G,44". The MP44 was developed to be an "all-purpose" weapon chambered for an intermediate cartridge falling between the full-power 8mm rifle cartridge, and the 9mm pistol cartridge. Capable of both semi-automatic and fully-automatic fire with the pressing of a switch at the side of the receiver this first modern "assault rifle" could fill the role of a deliberate "aimed-fire" weapon, as well as that of a "suppressing fire" weapon which was much needed by the Germans on the Eastern front against the Russians. Much has been written about the development of this model, but the concept was to manufacture this rifle utilizing metal stampings to the maximum extent to save production time. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine, dull, very likely vintage period non-buffed refinish with parts such as the barrel handguard and barrel starting to turn a brown patina and some wear to gray patina at the high edges in places. Wood of butt has a semi-gloss appearance over un-sanded wood with absolutely stellar "ayf" manufacturer's mark and some light handling marks. Grips are extremely fine to near excellent. Mechanics are crisp. Bore is very clean, shiny and bright. Bolt face is extremely fine. A very attractive specimen with the appearance of a "dipped" refinish. There is evidence of a punch pin removal on both sides of the magazine housing above the magazine catch. This is a very attractive MP-44 with a highly desirable magazine. Ammunition became available in recent years and anyone who shoots one of these guns will attest to their excellent firing characteristics. There is a reason these are such popular collector's items. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO AND RELIC ELIGIBLE. (N) THE LOWEST PUBLICLY OFFERED SERIAL NUMBER U.S. T161 (M60) BELT FED MACHINE GUN (FULLY TRANSFERAB

Lot # 1116 (Sale Order: 116 of 637)

When developing the M60 machine gun, the T161 was the first to resemble what would ultimately become the M60. In the post-War scramble to develop a machine gun that could replace the M1919 and 1918, the United States was looking for a machine gun with could rival the MG42 and FG42 fielded by German troops during the war. They started by reverse engineering the MG42 and FG42 before adding on desired characteristics, such as a barrel change system and a rechambering in 7.62x51mm NATO amongst others, with the ultimate result being the T161, which was eventually adopted as the M60 in 1957. This T161 was one of the experimental rifles used during testing, exemplified by the "EXP21" serial number, which is listed as the lowest number in the ATF Curio and Relic NFA registry, and the "MACHINE GUN / 7.62MM: T161 / U.S. PROPERTY" stamp on top of trunnion. Bottom of the receiver "US GOVERNMENT PROP". It features the M60 style flash hider, blade front sight on post, slot-ventilated heat shield, ribbed plastic forearm, carry handle, flip up ladder rear sight, belt fed system, and plastic furniture. Proper U.S. part numbers stamped on various parts, only externally visible serial number is EXP21, which is visible on left side of trunnion and left side of receiver. CONDITION: Very fine, retaining the vast majority of finish with some scattered marks from handling and operation. There is some silvering at the pivot points of the bipod. Bore is fine, bright and shiny with sharp rifling. Bolt face is fine, with some light traces of firing residue. Mechanics are crisp. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to own the lowest numbered publicly offered T161 in fantastic condition. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. (N) ATTRACTIVE FN HERSTAL FN-FAL MACHINE GUN AS MANUFACTURED FOR THE CONGO (CURIO AND RELIC).

Lot # 1119 (Sale Order: 119 of 637)

Very attractive FN (Fabrique Nationale) F.A.L. machine gun designated as "Light Automatic Rifle" (French: Fusil Automatique Léger), as manufactured for the Congo. These guns found particular favor in this part of the world as the terrain, particularly the brush, or otherwise the longer ranges where there was no brush, proved that the full-power .308 cartridge was more effective than intermediate or pistol cartridges for all-around use. This came up in conversation between this cataloger and a genuine “Mercenary” from that area years ago. The FN-FAL has enjoyed success world-wide and was adopted by NATO forces in the Cold War era with great satisfaction. Fabrique Nationale manufactured guns are rather rare in the National Firearms Act registry as fully transferable guns. ATF Registration forms shows, "FN (HERSTAL)" as the manufacturer with no model designation. This can be requested update upon transfer. Right side of receiver marked with typical FN markings visible with attractive Congo crest on right side of magazine well. Includes one 20 round magazine, and one bayonet. Serial numbers match between upper and lower assemblies. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent dark black re-finish with some small bit of light pitting visible on right side lower receiver and buttplate. Wood has also been refinished and is an attractive rich brown color. Mechanics are fine. Bore is good with frosting throughout. Bolt is near excellent as refinished with the slightest of handling marks. This is a select fire machine gun. Bayonet is extremely fine with matte blue finish and unsharpened blade. The FAL rifle saw widespread military use in over 90 countries for over 3 decades. It is a highly effective full-power .308 battle rifle. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO & RELIC ELIGIBLE.
