(N) EXTREMELY WELL ACCESSORIZED TURKISH CONTRACT 8MM VICKERS WATER COOLED MACHINE GUN (FULLY TRANSFE

Lot # 1127 (Sale Order: 127 of 637)

This is a rare Turkish contract Vickers machine gun professionally remanufactured on a VSM Cincinnati side plate. This gun was originally built for the Turkish government in the 1920’s. Turkey was allied with Germany during World War I and had large stocks of 7.92 (8mm) Mauser ammunition on hand as well as a significant number of Maxim guns. Following World War I, Britain was successful at negotiating better relations with Turkey including military aid which included Turkey receiving Vickers guns. The Turks insisted the guns be provided in 7.92mm as they had millions of rounds in this caliber. Additionally, they required their own model tripod with “soup plate” traversing dial, AA extension, antiaircraft spider sights, and a rear “flag” folding rear sight. These guns also sported the early “flat nose” muzzle booster and smooth water jacket. This gun incorporates all of these features and also includes a mounting bracket and 08/15 drum and also a Turkish 8mm aluminum belt. A reproduction water jacket cover is also included. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine military blue finish with some light handling marks and loss of finish at high edges to a gray patina. Mechanics are crisp. Bore is extremely fine, shiny and bright. Lock is extremely fine. Consignor states this gun functions flawlessly. A very rare specimen to find in its original confirmation with original accessories. A great item for either a Vickers collector or a recreational shooting enthusiast. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. Lot # 1129 (Sale Order: 129 of 637)

Fine example of Colt model 1914 Browning “Digger” machine gun on scarce and desirable original brass head tripod. Lot # 1139 (Sale Order: 139 of 637)

Affectionately referred to as a "Thumper" or "Bloop Tube" because of the distinct sounds of firing, the M79 Grenade Launcher saw widespread use throughout Vietnam as a man-portable force multiplier. (D) RARE AND COLLECTIBLE “U.S. ARMAMENT CORP” REGISTERED 1952 MANUFACTURED RUSSIAN 82MM MORTAR (DEST

Lot # 1140 (Sale Order: 140 of 637)

Korean war vintage Russian 82mm mortar on U.S. ARMAMENT CORP registered receiver cup with 1952 year markings and factory 66 markings on the receiver cup. Tube carries number “61370” and “82544”. Accessories include round baseplate with multiple numbers, Soviet Russian 1945 dated bipod with attractive “hammer and sickle” logo data plate, and Chinese optical sight in box with carrying strap, brush, and screwdrivers. Both the Russian and Chinese 82mm mortars were close copies of the U.S. 81mm Mortar. Perhaps “copy” is not quite fair, as there was very little difference between the basic 81mm mortar designs of several countries. All were based on the earlier French Brandt Model 27/31 mortar design. What is interesting and clever is that by standardizing their heavy Battalion level mortar in 82mm, the Russians could utilize the captured munitions of other countries which used 81mm mortars, but the other countries with 81 mm mortars could not utilize captured Russian ammunition. Tension spring chain between the bipod legs is an interesting “shock absorption” feature of this mortar. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent matte repainted olive drab on tube with light pitting under the paint. Receiver cup near excellent repainted finish consistent with tube. Bipod is very good with green paint chipping away with to reveal a gray patina. Baseplate has near excellent olive drab repainted finish which matched tube and cup. Mechanics of bipod are fine. Optical sight is extremely fine to near excellent with clear optics and leveling bubble intact. Bore is extremely fine with some light pitting. The consignor registered this weapon during the 1968 amnesty. Weapon is supplied in original factory shipping crate. (N) AS CAPTURED AND DEACTIVATED KOKURA MANUFACTURED JAPANESE TYPE 99 MACHINE GUN (CURIO AND RELIC).

Lot # 1144 (Sale Order: 144 of 637)

This is a Kokura manufactured Japanese Type 99 machine manufactured by Kokura in 1942, September, brought home by a World War II Veteran, deactivated, registered, and left essentially untouched. Visible serial numbers are matching on barrel, receiver, gas cylinder, lower assembly, buffer, as well as safety. Gas regulator non-matching as is original magazine. Unable to determine whether bolt matches due to welding. Muzzle has been welded shut with hard steel weld, with corresponding thread damage at muzzle. Bolt welded to receiver on both sides. Wood carrying handle with missing chip at front with smaller chip missing at rear. Carrying handle retention pin, trigger action pin, lower assembly retention nut, barrel retention wedge & nut charging handle and charging handle slot cover not present. No flash hider present. Magazine retention latch broken off at just above base. The Japanese Type 99 machine gun was the 7.7mm successor to the Type 96 (one of which is offered in this same auction). Both models were utilized by the Japanese through to the end of World War II by the Japanese, but the Type 99 is more often encountered today as it was more readily available as a souvenir to American occupation forces. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is poor to fair with brown corrosion throughout exterior exposed metal surfaces. None of the springs are functional, and the trigger is frozen and unmoving. Bolt has been welded in forward position with weld bead and heat discoloration visible through ejection port with significant welding at charging handle slot on left side which has compromised the charging handle rail. Buttstock somewhat loose in its socket and some chipping where it meets buttplate. The good news is that the face and top of bolt looks good when viewed through the trunnion and top of magazine housing. The magazine with this gun appears serviceable without retention pin at top plate. There is place for a World War II artifact that has according to the consigning Son of the Veteran, is as it was captured except for the deactivation process. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 5 AS DEACTIVATED AND AS CURIO AND RELIC ELIGIBLE.
