GOLD AND STONE INLAID ZLATOUST HAWK KNIFE WITH SHEATH AND CASE.

Lot # 1329 (Sale Order: 226 of 302)

Zlatoust is well known for being one of the foremost centers of Russian engraving and metalwork, with production as far back as 1815, when Zlatoust was manufacturing edged weapons, including decorated examples. Right side of blade with a short spray of florals on ricasso. Sheath and bolster with extensive floral decoration on a mixed silver and gilt ground, with left side of sheath depicting a hawk pulling a trout out of the water, with silver and white enamel cleverly used to accent the hawk. Pommel in the form of a hawk head with 2 more indicolite gems for eyes. CONDITION: Excellent, retaining virtually all of the factory finishes, with some very minor marks from sheathing/resheathing.
