Double action mechanism. Backstrap is engraved with scrolls en suite. Two piece walnut grips with diamond shaped escutcheons on each side. CONDITION: Retains a light grey patina showing some wear. Markings very good. Action functions well. Grips very good with some staining. These were referred to as the Cavalry Model or sometimes the Wade Hampton model. It is known by collectors of these extremely well made guns as the First model, First variation. Made in Belgium in the 1960's, this is a copy of the Colt 1860 fluted army revolver. Centaur logo on the left side of the frame. Accompanied by the original matching shoulder stock with serial number on the top of the buttpate and on the lower tang. Stock fits tightly on the gun. CONDITION: Retains 95% original finish overall. Grips have some wear and light scratches from having the stock mounted. Bore is fine with sharp rifling. Fine mechanical function. Stock has some light handling marks. All matching numbers including the wedge, however there is no number on the brass backstrap. Small "COLT'S/ PATENT" on left side of frame. While expertly done and very difficult to discern, the barrel length is not original. CONDITION: Retains an even patina with light rust and some pitting. Markings are clear. Grips have dings and handling marks, showing age. Bore has strong rifling with some light pitting. Good mechanical function. Gun (B) is a standard configuration 3rd Model made in 1855. This is an "Army-Navy" model with "US" under the patent marking on the left side of the frame. Grips are cartouched. Single line New York address. Matching numbers on the frame, brass back strap, trigger guard and barrel. The barrel number appears to be restamped as the font and spacing are different. Loading lever does not match, nor does the cylinder. All parts are sub-inspected. CONDITION: Retains a pleasing patina with areas of pitting and rust, frame has been buffed at one time and markings are weak. Barrel markings are sharp. Grips are worn with cartouches faint. Good mechanical function. Serial number 24375, manufactured in 1861, matching serial numbers on all major components including the wedge. 8" barrel, One piece walnut grips with faint inspectors cartouche on left side. Frame cut for shoulder stock, four-screw. Sub-inspection marks in appropriate places. Accompanying this gun is a proper style shoulder stock which is not matching to the gun (22567), fits the gun well. Stock has been very cleverly aged and marked. Stamped serial numbers on buttplate, lower tang, steel catch are all matching. Handwritten ink serial number under buttplate is matching to metal. CONDITION: Overall bare metal with a light grey patina. Grips are rounding at the butt. Action works well, however will not hold at full cock. No surviving safety pins. Left stock screw is missing from frame of gun. Some replacement screws. Bore in good showing moderate pitting. Stock has dings and handling marks, wood having been refinished. Brass has a cleaned look to it, matching the brass color on gun. (A) LOT OF TWO: BOXLOCK MODEL 1843 US NAVY CIVIL WAR PISTOLS.

Lot # 1038 (Sale Order: 38 of 558)      

Lot consists of (A) Deringer manufacture and so marked on the lock. The gun is dated 1843 with "USR" stamped at the rear of the lock. We do not believe this marking to be original as there is no record of Deringer having supplied the Revenue Cutter Service with these guns. Deringer marked on top of the barrel at the breech. Brass mounted. Standard configuration. CONDITION: Barrel has been refinished with pitting underneath. Lock is cleaned bright with pitting. All markings are clear. Wood has dings and handling marks, visible cartouche on the left side. Front sight post is a restoration, as is the nipple. (B) 1845 dated Ames. Standard markings and configuration. Matching dates on lock and barrel. Cartouche on the left side of stock. CONDITION: Very good, as found. Retains a pleasing patina overall with some light surface rust and minor pitting. In 2012, the engraving firm Adams & Adams created a total of 35 special commemorative Model 1860 percussion revolvers; one for each state that fought in the war and one for the District of Columbia. This is the gun made for New York; the design and engraving was hand done by master engraved John J. Adams, Sr. The pattern is based on an 1860 Army presented to General U.S. Grant. Decorated for the Union on the left side and the Confederacy on the right. Each gun used an original 1860 Army for its basis and was engraved in the style of Gustav Young in the spirit of the "Tears of Gettysburg" revolver. Each revolver is hand fitted with carved ivory stocks with high relief "US" and "CS" on respective panels and is finished in blue and cased colored finish by Doug Turnbull Restorations. Includes a letter from John Adams listing this gun by serial number as being gun 12 of 35 New York list, ivory was supplied by Nutmeg Sports; case was made by Duncan Eberhart, noted master Pennsylvania furniture maker. (A) LOT OF TWO: TWO COLT 1861 NAVY CONVERSIONS TO CENTERFIRE.

Lot consists of (A) Serial number 61045 Colt Model 1851 Navy-Army converted to a Richards Mason Navy-Navy revolver. with "R.W.M. with anchor" inspection on bottom flat of barrel (Richard W Meade). Marked U.S.N. on butt. Matching numbers found on barrel, frame and trigger guard. Conversion number 1045 found on loading gate and cylinder; wedge is without number. Very scarce conversion. CONDITION, Very good being void of most finish on barrel and backstrap with small amounts of finish in protected areas. Frame retains 20% vivid case colors. Bore is very good and action operates properly. Several frame and grips screws are modern replacements and is missing one rear grip screw. (B) Colt Model 1851 Navy-Navy conversion with Model 1861 barrel shortened to 6 - 1/2". Matching numbers on barrel, frame, trigger guard and back strap. Cylinder is mismatched. Richards Mason Navy-Navy revolver. with "R.W.M. with anchor" inspection on bottom of barrel (Richard W Meade). CONDITION: Fair with most finish worn. Grips are worn and have a carved LG on left side. Action operates inconsistently. A brass shim has been installed between frame and recoil shield for unknown reason. 4 - 1/2" round barrel with Colt New York address on top. Sliding ejector assembly, rebated cylinder with Stagecoach cylinder scene. One piece varnished walnut grips. Matching numbers observed on barrel, frame, butt and cylinder as well as loading gate. Nickel finish on barrel and frame with silver gilt on front and back straps. Interesting period of cartridge and firearms development utilizing and converting existing percussion revolver on hand. CONDITION: Good with properly operating action. Nickel finish with freckled but very honest and uncleaned. Grips have been lightly sanded at an earlier time and had the initials "JT" added on top left.
